A Nice Weekend

Sunday, June 19, 2011

Saturday was a very nice day. My daughter had a birthday party at noon, so I didn't stay very long at the gym. I had to run to Target to pick up b-day and Father Day cards. Got home, showered and it was basically time to go. It was a bowling party. Across the street was a Target w/ a Starbuck's, so you know where i went with some of the moms. Got my coffee!! Got back to the party & everyone was having a great time. I was starving, but, there wasn't anything to eat. Thank goodness I had my cut up apple with me. That's what I ate. My son ran over to the bowling alley (we live very close) because he wanted to meet Reggie Miller (he's the uncle to the birthday girl. He played basketball for UCLA and then on the Pacers). My daughter is now best friends with Reggie. They have their own high five shake! Here's my proof:

Rachel & Reggie Miller

I told my daughter that we like his sister, Cherly Miller, better b/c she played for USC and Reggie played for UCLA booh!! Her response to me: "Mom, I like Reggie better. He's a man and men are better athletes then women!" Ok, her brother's and Dad are sure rubbing off on her!! After the party, her friend came back to the house. And of course, they were planning something. Rachel ended up sleeping over at her friends house. She actually stayed the whole night!! Yeah Rachel!!!

Sunday morning, my son and I went hiking with my buddies. Nice 2 hour hike. Picked up my daughter from her friends, ran home, showered and went to meet the family for my brothers birthday and Father's Day. My husband rode his bike to the park (he went the round about way to get in his miles: 3 hours and 15 mins. And yes, her rode straight home, No round about way!). It was a nice afternoon. Came home, ran to the market and then baked for a PTA potluck for tomorrow. Then, I had to make dinner. My husband wanted pancakes. I made 3 different kinds: buttermilk blueberry, buttermilk banana and buttermilk chocolate chip. Which one did I eat? None! I had a baked potato and then, yogurt. I'm so proud of myself. Now, I have to put my little princess to bed and then, go and relax.

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!!

Until next time-

I Did What?

Tuesday, June 14, 2011

When I woke up this morning, I realized I had a lot to do: take my daughter to school, come home and do a load of laundry, go to my WW meeting, Costco after that, come home and workout and then, get to my daughter's school for a volunteer lunch. After I got home, I realized that I should kill 2 birds with one stone: I ran to my WW meeting and then, ran home. Round trip took me 50 mins: it was 4.25 miles. It was such a great idea. I did get a stitch in my side a block and a half from my house, so I walked the rest of the way. After all that, I had more time and wasn't rushed. Oh, since I weigh myself every Tuesday (only weigh in once a month, lifetime), I got on the scale this morning. Last week, I was up .4 and this week, I was down .2. So, I think by next week, I'll be good.

Got to school for lunch and there wasn't much to have. Would you believe there wasn't any salad or vegetables? I had chicken and a tad of coleslaw. And dessert? Skipped it. I did come home and have the other half of my apple. Dinner was fish and baked potato. Dessert will be a peach or mango.

Feeling good. Put on a dress that I haven't worn since September and I have to say, I looked really good. Losing 10 lbs makes such a difference. June is almost half way gone and I'm getting closer to be under 120 lbs. I think I might just make this goal.

Until next time-

My alarm went off at 3:56am this morning. That was after falling asleep after 12:00am. Not a very good combo. Got up, brushed my teeth, dressed and went into the kitchen. My son was up already, so didn't have to wake him. Emptied out the dishwasher and got my bag already. We were going to Camp Pendleton to do the Mud Run! Pagona got to my house around 4:45 and off we went. We picked up another couple in L.A. and then, off to San Diego. We made really good time (only pulled over once for a pit stop!). Thank goodness Seth bought a VIP parking pass. We got to bypass the buses and park right near the entrance. We got our t-shirts and took some pictures:

The four of us in front of the signs. Pagona had to wait for her team mates

Me and my 16 year old son. Check out who's on their tip toes

Got into the main entrance and bought some souveniors. Had to get my mud run shirt. Then, we checked in our bags. Once we give them in, that's it. No getting them back until after the race. Off to the porta potties again!! By then, it was time to start lining up. Lots of talking to make the time go by. We started moving toward the starting line and more talking. When there was 15 mins. left, we started going. Huh? That doesn't make any sense. But, here we are, running. But oh wait, there's the starting line. More waiting. And those men! They were off running to the bushes. Really guys?? Then, it really was time. I told my son to just go and I'll meet at the finishing line. Seth, Ges (they're married) and I stayed together the whole time. Seth didn't want to leave his wife (she was a newbie) and I told Ges that I was doing this with her, so, I wasn't leaving her. We're off and bam, the water hoses. It did feel refreshing though. We were doing good. We kept with Ges's pace. If she wanted to walk, we walked. If she wanted to run, we ran. Then, the sand, the crossing of the waters. Ugh, the shoes! But, we kept on going.

Hills!!!! Yup, about 3 miles of hills. We ran, we walked, we ran some more. Thank goodness for those Marine's with the water. After the hills were over, the fun began. "Just jump in. The mud is shallow!" yells the Marine. Shallow for who?? Up and over the wall! Thanks Seth for the boosts. Around the corner and there it was, the LAKE! Thank goodness this year it was up to my shoulders (not my neck) and my feet stayed on the bottom. Slippery, but on the bottom. Another mud pit and another boost from Seth. Then, the slippery hill. Not bad at all. Hardly any mud (last year, CRAZY MUDDY). After that, we just ran to the end. Ok, the end was the mud pit: under the "barb wire" crawling in mud. For some reason, that is my favorite part. Got out and the 3 of us sprinted to the finish line together. We crossed it at 1:34:18. Next year, Ges and I are going to beat that time!!

Crossed that finish line and went looking for my boy. Finally found him. He finished it in 1:03:00. Not too bad. Next year, he plans on doing it under an hour. You go Isaac! So proud of my boy.

Nice and dirty!

Me and my boy, Isaac

We got our bags, headed to the showers and waited in line. Finally, cleaned up and we were ready to chow down. Found Pagona, got back to the car. But first, Seth and Isaac had to have a pull up contest:

Here's Seth. Where's Isaac?

Got in the car and off to eat brunch. Yummy!! I ate very healthy: egg whites with mushrooms, tomatoes and spinach. I had 4 of Isaac's nachos and that was it. Back into the car and off to L.A. Got home, showered, ate and threw our wash in. Now, it's time for a snack and relaxation.

This time around, I can honestly say that I will do the Mud Run again next time. Trying to convince the rest of my family to join us. Isaac and I will be doing our job.

Until next time-

Ok, I'm Embarrassed!

Wednesday, June 01, 2011

Please, don't look at my last blog entry. How pathetic is that? Life has been crazy and got in the way, but, I've missed blogging and decided, it's June, time to start. So, here I am! So, what's been going on in the past 9 months? Well, thank goodness, I haven't had a baby!!! LOL. My kids have kept me busy, as well as the volunteering I do at my daughter's school. Now, on to the weight, eating issue. It wasn't that great until 4 weeks ago, I said, "ENOUGH ALREADY!" I couldn't take it any more. So, I buckled down and have lost almost 10 lbs in 4 weeks. Now, I am so motivated. With that, it's time to put the June goals down:

emoticon Keep up the cardio, but, get back onto my bike and start riding outside in the nice, fresh air!

emoticon I need to do better on my strength training. I've been too lax, so, I have to make sure I strength train at least twice a week.

emoticon Continue eating the way I am: clean and healthy. I don't need to pig out. I am very satisified with my food. the first bite is just as good as the last, so, stick with the first one!

emoticon I'm not going to put a specific number, but, I would like to be under 120 lbs. by the end of June. We go on vacation in July and I want to be comfortable. I don't have far to go below that number, but, b/c I don't have a massive amount to lose, 2-5 lbs will make me happy.

Ok, here it is. I've typed them out and will hit the post button. Now, I am committed. Who else will put it in writing (ok, typing!)?

Until later-

Happy New Year!

Wednesday, September 08, 2010

Yesterday, I went to WW and decided to get it over and done with and weigh in. I knew I was up. Technically, I didn't have to weigh in b/c I'm lifetime, but, I said, "I'm just gonna do it!" So, I did. I was up 1.4 lbs. That just gave me the incentive to get back on track right then! After the meeting, I ran to Ralph's to pick up some things. Got home and Rachel and I made Challah in honor of Rosh Hashana. I used to bake every week with the boys & I felt bad that Rachel never had that experience. (Long story as to why I baked every week. Used to be orthodox, now I'm not, yadda, yadda, yadda!). She loved rolling out, braiding, brushing with egg! Here's a picture of the final project:

How yummy is she?? Wanted to go to the gym to take a spin class, but, I found out that Rachel had soccer practice at 6:15. There went that. That meant that I actually took a day off of exercising. Kind of weird, but much needed!

Today, I was back to my normal routine. Dropped my son off at school and ran to the gym. Did 60 min on the arctrainer (intervals) and then, 60 mins of strength training: upper body. Couldn't imagine doing legs just yet. Came home and my USC boy came home to go shopping at Target with my credit card!! Don't even ask how much we spent?? Came home, ate something and finally, hopped into the shower. Got ready pretty fast b/c I had a 12:15 meeting (Girl scout planning w/ the other leaders). We planned out the whole year. We are so proud of ourselves. Picked up my high schooler and came home. Hung out and watched one show on my DVR before I had to make dinner (and before Direct tv came to install the new system). Made a nice dinner: chicken cacciatore, noodles and homemade challah. (I added beets to my meal & only had about 1/2 cup of noodles).

Catching up on all my emails. Now, I have to go and figure out this new Direct t.v. system. Gotta make sure I DVR all my shows!! Tomorrow, a busy day, but a good one. Wishing all my Jewish friends a very Happy and Healthy New Year!

Until tomorrow-
