8th & 9th Day of Vacation

Tuesday, August 03, 2010

Ok, so I was a slacker yesterday. Not too much though. My boys were bugging me to play cards last night, so I didn't get to blog. So, I'll combine today. Yesterday, I went to the gym. I wanted to take 2 classes, but, I had to be back b/c we were going out for a later breakfast. Let's just say, I warmed up on the ellliptical for 30 minutes & then, took a spin class. The class was ok. The teacher basically did the same thing the whole time, but I pushed myself hard. After the class, the guy sitting next me, taps me on the arm and says, "You are a hard worker. I've never seen anyone spin so hard like you." Did that make my morning? You betcha!! Came home, took a shower and waited for DH to come home from his ride. Well, let's just say that I could have taken the 2nd class & still be ready to go for brunch. I won't make that mistake again. Brunch was pretty good. I had a mushroom, spinach & grilled onion eggwhite omelet w/ a piece of whole wheat toast. It was quite good. The kids had pancakes which I tried and were pretty good. I gave Rachel my hashbrowns & she gave me her strawberries. Fair trade!!
It was an easy day, so we went back to mini golf to play the 27 hole course. I didn't do very well. But, it's only a game.

After golf, we came home and relaxed for a bit. DH was having a craving for sushi, so, we went. Let's just say it ain't like home. UGH! Rachel's chicken was the best part. Came home, and, you know the rest. Had to play cards with my boys.

This morning, slept in a bit. Read in bed. I love reading!! DH and I went to get coffee and pick up some things at KMart. Came home & everyone was up, so I made them pancakes. Then, we got in the car and went on a hike. It was only a mile to where we were going, but let me tell you about that mile. My DH read that it was a hard hike & couldn't figure out why until we got there. It was all up hill & man, it was up hill. It took about an hour. But, it was worth it. The lake was beautiful.

the poser!

After we got back to the car, we continued driving around Lake Tahoe. That was our trip for the day: driving around the whole lake, 72 miles. It was gorgeous. We stopped off at a bakery/cafe in Tahoe City. A great find. Too bad they weren't closer. Darn good food. Got back to the house and relaxed. DH took the princess ice skating (he found a place for her) while I played cards with the boys. They want to beat our total amount of games that we played last year on vacation. As a matter of fact, they're waiting for me now. So, with that, I'm off.

Until tomorrow-

August Goals

Monday, August 02, 2010

This morning, I was reading MSEVERLAST's blog about August goals. I totally forgot to make those this month. I commented to her that while I was at the gym, I would think of my goals for August. So, during spinning, this is what I came up with (just b/c I'm on vacation, doesn't mean I don't have to do this):

1) Continue my exercise regimen: 6-7 days of week of cardio & 3-4 days of strength training

2) Be below the 20's (yes people, that's below 120 lbs.). You all have to understand that I am only 5 feet tall. Being in my teens is very reasonable. Before I got pregnant with my last one (she'll be 8 in October), I weighed 102 lbs. Ok, I didn't have any muscle, so I won't be weighing that again, but now you can see, I am a little person. I would love to be 110 lbs. But, for now, I'll take 119 by the end of the month.

3) Be more conscious of what goes into my mouth. Stay on target of my points and write down everything.

4) Find some new, healthy recipes that my family would like (and would never know that it is healthy).

That's all I came up with so far. If I think of anything else, I'll let you all know (or, if you think of anything for me, I'll take it!!)

Those are pretty impressive goals especially considering you are on vacation.

I don't think the word goal would come out of my mouth if I were on vacation in Lake Tahoe!

You are a little thing! Your exercise goal is amazing. That's why you're so little... exercising 6-7 x per week. I'm doing good if I make my goal of 4 x. Everyone is different, I guess.

I always thought why in the heck is she trying to lose weight??? Cause let's face it I'd give my eye-teeth to be there...but taking into account your height it makes sense! An ahh for me...wishing you the best to meet your goals!

It appears you have given some thought to what you want for yourself. You have set your focus, and have some steps in mind to get there. The insight you have gained on your journey is inspiring! I, too, am not very tall, a bit older, but you have learned to be realistic and I applaud you for that. At 5'1" I had gotten to 97 lbs, and at 47 was having difficulty finding appropriate clothes. Definitely not healthy. After a bout of eating diordered thinking I have re-set my prioities. They are much more realistic, and more importantly healthy. I have no idea how I got to that point, but it is certainly a great reminder to have it stressed what is really important. Thank you for sharing your goals and shaking up an "old fool"
I wish you the very best in your endeavors. emoticon

7th Day of Vacation

Sunday, August 01, 2010

I actually woke up this morning and stayed in bed reading until 9:00am. Shhh, don't tell anyone!! Got up, had some breakfast and caught up on my email. DH and Tzvi came home from golfing around 11:00. The sandwiches were made (which I did earlier) and we decided on what we were doing today. Some wanted to take it easy. I, on the other hand, wanted to hike. Needed to get my exercise in. Hike won!! We were going to just drive around Lake Tahoe and stop at some point. Instead, we pulled into a place where my hubby heard about. We ended up doing a 7 mile round trip hike. It was great until we had to come back and it was basically all up hill the whole way back. Altitude and uphill aren't that much fun. But, it was worth it. 3 hours outside was great. The view was just incredible.

My family (minus my biggest boy. Miss you Elie!)

Rachel took a picture of Mommy and Daddy

Beautiful view

Lunch time

Our lunch guest. Didn't get of the little chipmunks who were trying to get some food!

Bonding time on the rock

We got back to the car & had to go pick up Rachel and Tzvi. They took a short cut and were waiting for us on the side of the road. Wish I would have taken a picture of that. It looked so funny. Got back into town and went to the market. Had to pick up some things. Came home, emptied the car and went into the jacuzzi. After, we ate dinner (fish, soup and salad; pizza and soup for the kiddies.). Now my boys are waiting for me to finish up already b/c they want to play cards.

So, with that, I'm off until tomorrow-

6th Day of Vacation (a little late)

Sunday, August 01, 2010

So, instead of enjoying the outdoors for my exercise, I went to the gym. I got a 3 day pass. I took a Body Pump class that did not compare to the one back home and then, a spin class. Missed the bikes from the gym and my spin shoes. Oh well. At least I did something. Came home, ate some breakfast and then, went into the jacuzzi. It was so beautiful. Gonna have to take pictures and share them. The kids decided that they wanted another easy day, so, that's what we did. Thank goodness I went to the gym!!

We went to play miniature golf. I was doing so well and then, bam, as my husband said, "She choked!" (Picture his hands around his throat. So not nice).

It was hot, so we decided to take the kids to the Ice Cream Shop. The boys enjoyed themselves. One ordered a banana split and one ordered a 4 scoop sundae. Oh man, how could they eat all of that??

Rachel drinking her water and me drinking my skinny latte

We then went looking for ice skating. Well, there is no ice skating in the summer time, it's mini golf. Rachel wasn't very happy. We walked around and ended up in Nevada. Yup, we were right by the state line. DH took a picture of us in both states at the same time, but it didn't come out. Bummer!! We went into Harrah's and found an arcade. They had a good time, especially DH and Rachel playing Dance Dance Revolution. Take a look:

We came home, had some dinner, and then, I played some cards with the boys. Not sure what's in store for the next day. I will let you all know.

Until then-

5th Day of Vacation

Saturday, July 31, 2010

We started our vacation with 8 and now, we're down to 5. My oldest and the 2 friends went home today. Kind of sad. We'll miss them, but oh well, we'll still have fun. Today was a lazy day. I slept in til 7:00 again (I guess I like that number here) and I decided not to do anything: no running, no biking, no nothing. It was kind of nice. Felt guilty, but I'll make up for it tomorrow. We went into town and did a little shopping. Came back, had some lunch, caught up on emails and then, went back into town with everyone. Went to a used bookstore and then, to the movies. DH took the 2 boys to see Dinner with Schmucks and I took the princess to see Ramona and Beezus. They enjoyed theirs and we enjoyed ours. Walked around the plaza and then, went to look for some dinner. We wanted to go back to the cafe we went to yesterday, but they're only open for breakfast & lunch. Bummer. The boys wanted pizza, so we found a pizza place. Not very good. I had a piece of crust & came home to eat.

Now, it's 9:00 and we're trying to figure out what game to play together. Not sure yet. Tomorrow, hopefully, a nice, long hike. Sorry no pictures today, but, I don't think you needed to see the movie theater!! I'll make sure we have some good ones tomorrow.

Until next time-

P.S. To my 3 boys who left this morning (if you read this), miss you guys!!! (Matthew, I haven't received my facebook notice!!)
