here are some helpful tips others have tride for Choco cravins
use a lot of unsweetened cocoa powder. I use it in my oatmeal and in my plain greek yogurt.

Plain greek yogurt plus a little stevia plus cocoa powder and a dash of vanilla extract tastes like an indulgent chocolate pudding. Yum!

also dark chocolate squares.
Sweet Riot sells 25 calorie, individually wrapped squares. just keep them in a place where you have to work to get to them, and limit to 1-2 of them.

Morning Michiganders and all who lurk.

Change is very important to WLSers. It starts from the first time we look at the numbers and say man this has got to stop and never seems to end. We are always evaluating our process and determining how to stabilize or adjust our life styles.

And today I evaluate my journey. When I had set my mind to doing something about my health I became very proactive. I Was diligent following the rules .Jumping through the hoops to get my WLS requirements achieved. The surgery was preformed and successfully dropped 130+ lbs following the rules of the tool. I maintained it for an entire 2yrs. I didn't reach my goal as I had planned it, however I still felt successful about the results. Until just after the 2ND anniversary of my surgery. Then Bam all of a sudden I started to gain lbs. Back. from 199 to 235 in no time at all. What was happening?????????. Did Stitch run away from home?

I came back to Sparkpeople and OH looking for the support I once found to be so helpful. But, The Michigan board seemed barren. Just a Hand full of post, non from any of the veterans I enjoyed a day to day cyber coffee with everyday. I miss them. I do still see post on the FB from a lot of them every now and again.

Back to change and WLSers. Like I said the scales began to raise. Well a couple of times I tried to restart my program on the right track. And fell right off the wagon and felt defeated. Was I doomed to never be the beauty of 140 lbs I so desperatly wished for. Why didn't I become a twig like so many other who have had the surgery. Did I get short changed with my RNY surgery. Was my pouch not small enough? Why why Why?

I decide to discipline myself. go back to the rules I had set for my self. Practice what I had preached many times before. Take one rule and enforce it then add another and do that until I was following All of them again.

So first things first
I started journaling my meals again. Wow I had learned how to graze my way up to 3000 cal a day and hardly any protein. No water Even though I chose low fat foods I managed to eat more than needed.

Then the water. I was not consuming any except what was in my coffee cup. I re-instituted my old friend "the jug" (filled with 64 ozs of water" in the fridge and nothing to drink until I had completed my water.

Vitmins came next . Had not taken any for months. big basket still in the linen closet right where I left them. Not any more! I restarted the task of preparing my daily pill pack for a week in advance and actually taking them on track.

then the calorie intake. I maintain control of what and how much I control using the Spark food tracker. and staying with in the limits i have set.
1200 cal per day
60-180 carb
30 fat
80-120 protein

and Oh yes exercise.
If turning the channel with a remote was considered some then that is what I did. Now I am back to the gym with my daughter most days of the week, and riding my bike 5-10 miles a couple of time per week.

My humble opinion is that this process of getting healthy not only requires a constant discipline to make sure that we maintain the change that we have under taken and to not slip into our old habits, we must manage our mind and find different innovative ways to keep or thinking on the right track. So we don't endulge our little fat voice inside that would do anything to sabotage our new healthy life style.

10 of the 35 lbs of regain weight have been battled off and with the help of God and my sparks family, I know I will reach my goal.

You will be successful to. I know it is a long journey to health. And when you find the right motivation the determination stil requires jump starts to keep it kicking!

Day 5 of the 5 day

protein coffee, (once of cold water, scoop of choc protein powder, pack of splenda, to make slurry, fill the rest of the cup with decaff, and a pack of non dairy creamer)water. emoticon

Day 5 of the 5 day: so far going good. not lost a lot of weight but I am back to tracking, and counting protein, cals, carbs, n fat grams. I was also able to dertermine that I must have uncounciously reverted to grazing, exspecially at night and not drinking my water.

Now that I have pinpointed the issues I can get back to the basics aware of my downfalls. emoticon

Day4 of the 5 day. I think it went pretty well, decidin what to eat, while at lunch with the girls was challenging, but the old faithful tuna salad got me through. I do feel my pouchi tension. So I guess that is good.
