Double day workouts

Sunday, February 02, 2014

After kind of a blah week for motivation, I am determined to catch up to where I should be in my workout schedule for t25. I kind of took a few days off last week for my BF's birthday and this week with the miserable weather, I wasn't feeling like doing anything let alone workout.

I got back into it though despite myself and I have been nailing all my workouts. I am starting to notice changes already and I am only just finished week two. The other day after my workout I went to my BF and said that I can feel my thigh is really toning right above my knee, especially when I do a knee hold. I held my knee up in a 90 degree angle and said to feel it and he said "I can SEE it". That is awesome. I am not only just feeling the changes in my body even if I can't see them yet, they are definitely visible.

I just powered through Total body circuit and Speed 1.0. I find total body circuit to be really tough. I am not a plank and push up person and there is a lot of planking/push ups in that video. I pushed through and didn't even have to modify and follow Tania. emoticon

Speed 1.0 is quickly becoming my favourite workout of the Alpha phase. I just find it is do much fun. I pre-watched most of the workout videos before I did them and I wasn't sure about it at first but I just love this video. I feel so exhilarated after I finish it.

Tomorrow will be another two workout day for me and then Tuesday will be my official double day. Then I should be all caught up and have two glorious days of rest. I may or may not do the stretch video on Thursday but I haven't decided yet. I haven't tried that video as I have just been taking days off. It might be good for me to do.

My goal is to finish the Alpha phase before I get my tonsils out. I want to be able to do the whole program straight through but as long as I finish Alpha I will be happy. I haven't decided yet if I am going to go into Beta phase when I can workout again or re-do the Alpha Phase. I will see how I feel when the time comes and I am well enough to exercise again.

T25 a week (and a bit) in

Sunday, January 26, 2014

So I finished week one of focus t25 and I have to say that I am really enjoying it. It is much more my speed than insanity. I haven't lost any weight with it yet but I did my measurements on Thursday and I was down a half inch on my thighs! (woo hoo!)

My BFs birthday was on Friday so I didn't start my week two until today. In order to maintain the current schedule, I am doing today and tomorrow as a double day in addition to the double day scheduled for Tuesday (Thursday and Friday are my off days).

So my workouts today were Alpha Cardio and Total Body Circuit. Cardio kicked my butt. I took a good 15 minute+ break in between the two workouts as my lungs were on fire today. I must be getting better at it though because I definitely did better with the Total body circuit video this go around with it. I have to modify a lot of the push ups and planks but I pushed my way through it. I gave myself a "barely made it" checkmark for the cardio (my lungs were not happy with me with that workout) and I felt confident enough that I pushed myself harder in total body circuit for a "Nailed it!" checkmark.

This is a much more manageable program for me. Even on days when I double up the workouts, doing two short 25 minute workouts is a lot easier to get through than one long 50 minute workout. I feel like I can take a break if I want to and no matter what the countdown timer is always 25 minutes or less so I feel like it isn't as long.

T25 day 3

Sunday, January 19, 2014

Today I did day three of the T25 program. My workout today was the Total Body Circuit. I had to check off "Barely Made It" on the workout calendar. I was doing ok and then about halfway through I found myself not being able to do all the planks and push ups. I am sure I will do better with it next time but I just found that even following the modifiers, I was only able to just barely get through some of the moves. I was sweating bullets by the end of it.

I have to say that I really enjoy the feeling I get when I finish a workout and I find that the T25 workouts go by fast. It is almost as though it is over just as fast as I begin and I am still dripping with as much sweat as if I had done an hour long workout.

T25 day 2

Saturday, January 18, 2014

I started T25 yesterday. After attempting to do Insanity two times (once in November and again the start of January) I was looking for something different. I started Insanity because I wasn't enjoying P90x anymore but didn't want to stop working out. Insanity was just too difficult.

So the other day I got a copy of T25. I did Alpha Cardio yesterday. I had to do the modifier moves for a couple of them in this video but that is ok. I like that there is a modifier in T25. There wasn't one in Insanity. I did a couple of Modifiers in Speed 1.0 (namely the step back lunge modifier for the burpees).

I feel like the 25 minute workout is going to be much more manageable for me to fit in.

Yay me!

So my work is starting to pay off I think. I had someone I work with comment on how I am starting to slim out. I told her the scale isn't really moving and she said I must be toning. It is nice to have someone else notice it. I am slowly starting to notice it myself.

Since I started in February, I am now down 10 pounds. I would have liked it to be more but my body tends to hold on to weight and weight loss is an excruciatingly long process sometimes. I know that it is because my body tends to want to be more on the muscular/athletic side so my body is building muscle.
