Cycle commuting

Saturday, May 18, 2013

I am sufficiently proud of myself this week. While I did not do as many Daily hiit videos this week as I planned, I think I was sufficiently active this week now that I have incorporated biking into my work commute. I biked for four days this week which involves about 20-25 minutes between home and job one each way and about 20 minutes between home and job 2 or between job one and job 2.

For example, on Tuesday and Thursday, I biked from home to work 1 (25 minutes), from work one to work 2 (20 minutes), from work 2 back to work 1 (20 minutes) and then from work 1 back home (25 minutes).

Monday and Wednesday (and usually Friday but it was a school PA day so a day off for me), I bike from home to work 1 (25 minutes), work 1 to home (25 minutes), home to work 2 (20 minutes), work 2 to work 1 (20 minutes) and then work 1 to home (25 minutes).

It is a lot of exercise from the biking but since it is commuting, I still feel guilty for not doing my Daily Hiit (which when you count all the cycling minutes, I shouldn't).

The scale is slowly moving again though so I am happy for that. I am down to 186.0 lbs. My inches haven't budged much but you can't have everything. I am looking "tighter" in the abs and legs according to my boyfriend and I can see it a little too. I still have a LONG way to go but it is nice to see some progress. I am aiming to be leaner (not necessarily skinnier-I want to be more athletic in appearance than waify) by December when my BF and I are going to be going to the Dominican for his sister's wedding. I think at the rate I am going I should be ok.

Bike is back

Sunday, May 12, 2013

I have kind of gotten off track with my workouts. Aside from my daily walking between jobs I only did two daily hiit videos in the month of April. Bad Mary!

With the upcoming wedding of my BF's sister in December, I really need to get myself into shape.
I did the Daily Hiit video "The hiit #8-OMG Tight Workout". I really liked this video. I have really been enjoying Sean and Candice's videos together. I think they work really well with each other and the modification options that Candice shows can be helpful. I like being able to adapt my workout to suit me. I did the burpees, pushups, and side plank abs like Candice and I did the pulse and around the world squats like Sean.

I did five rounds of this video and it was good. I am getting better at burpees which is nice because it is a kind of progress.

My bike is now back on the road so instead of walking, I am able to bike everywhere, cutting my travelling time in half and allowing me to do more if I like.

Slow week but some progress made.

Sunday, March 24, 2013

So this past week I haven't really done a lot of workouts. I did one workout last Sunday, Wednesday, and Saturday. I found that getting back to the routine of my work schedule kind of drained me this week. I walk in between my shifts so I was still getting something in even though it wasn't a workout video.

Happy news though, I went down in weight this week after not loosing in the last two and a half weeks. It wasn't a lot but it is down a bit. yay!

My plan for today is to get all my planning down this morning, do my workout and go to the library, then work on the gift for my future niece or nephew.

8 week challenge?

Friday, March 22, 2013

So at my work, there is a poster for this 8 week challenge where I will have to follow a strict diet and exercise plan. I will have to give up caffeine (oh god help me), sugar, and wheat. I am not sure what else I will have to modify as well but it sounds really good.

A few of the other teachers are thinking of doing it and I might register. I asked the boyfriend if he would be willing to and he said "you can do it but I don't think I will" lol. They have to confirm the prices are for the whole group and not per person and then I will sign up. (I am not dropping 100 bucks for just myself). Four other staff members are going to do it too.

I have to sign up by next Thursday. I think it will really kick my weight loss into gear. They have several before and after pictures and I saw one of the befores and thought "that is me and if I could be that after picture I will be perfectly happy".

It's not even the ability to commit to the program that has me hesitant to drop 100 bucks on a program. I typically won't drop that much money on any one thing in general. I am very frugal with my money in that respect. I have other things that the 100 bucks could go towards.

They have posted some good food choices on their pinterest page so I might just follow some of those ideas on my own if I don't do the challenge.

Thanks for visiting :)

I have heard that people have a lot of weight loss success with eliminating flour and sugar and I'm sure giving up caffeine wouldn't hurt, but you have to do what is best for you. Laying down $100 is a high price if you think it is a plan that you can't stick to. Consider the before and after photos.... are they real people of have they been photo-shopped? Whatever you choose do it for the right reasons! Good luck emoticon

Spring is on it's way.

Saturday, March 16, 2013

Today I revisited a daily Hiit video I have already done. I did Hiit Tabata 2 again today. I really like that workout. They haven't posted another Tabata video since that one and I was in the mood to do it again. It is funny how I managed to do both p90x and 30 day shred where I repeated the same videos over again constantly. I don't know how I kept my attention with it. I like having a new video every day. it keeps my exercise ADD at bay better.

They have re-done their website a bit and have a breakdown on the page with each workout. It makes it easier to do a quick glance of past workouts to refresh your memory on whether you liked it. I like that. I do my workouts on the playstation so that feature only works if I am on my laptop.

I find the workouts with the t-bar and the sandbag a lot easier now that I have a sandbag to work with. I feel I can keep my form better with it than the dumbbells.

I did some form of workout 6 days this week. I guess it makes up for the fact I only did four workouts last week. Now that the weather is starting to get nicer and spring will soon be here, I should be able to take the bike out again. I have to bring it in for spring maintenance first and then it will be good to go.
