My 5% Fall Challenge Commitment

This is my first 5% challenge so i am kind of excited and worried too!

1. Of course lose 5% in the 8 weeks of the challenge.

2. Track calories and stay in my range of 1200-1600.

3. Exercise 6 days a week. 2-3 ten minute workouts per day.

4. Stay connected to the team, offering support and posting to blogs.

5. 3-5 freggies a day.

6. 6-8 cups of water per day.

Today I finally removed the cellophane from my 10 min Fit, Firm &Fired Up DVD. Woo Hoo! It wasn't bad at all and I was surprised it was over so quick.

I am on day 20 of keeping a food diary using a small notebook, today I started using both my food diary and the Sparkpeople tracker so I can see the nutrition amounts. I think that will help me alot since I will be able t.o see if I need to eat more or stop eating for the day. I do plan my meals in the morning so I pretty much know what I am going to eat for each meal but things can change and I want to be flexible without feeling like I am messing up.

I also walked down to my nephews house to borrow a lawn mower but his isnt working so tomorrow I am gonna check out the pawn shop. My lawn is small and I've been paying to have it mowed. Another 10 min of exercise! Woo Hoo!

Overall I feel like I am on an upward spiral, yay me!

    Keep on tracking! If you also add your fitness minutes to the fitness tracker there is a cool graph that shows calories burned vs eaten over time. As long as you stay within the green band you should be losing weight or at least have confirmation that you are doing things right! It is my favorite graph in the reports section.

My Binge Attack!!

On saturday I went to a cookout at a friends and decided to just have fun and eat whatever I wanted, so I did. Talk about a big mistake, I never once thought about having a gall bladder attack! About 4yrs ago I lost 40 lbs due to gallbladder attacks, I was afraid to eat anything, but gradually I stopped having them or only once in awhile if I ate fried foods. Well I was up all night in severe pain and then slept yesterday afternoon. I only ate a bagel and a banana all day because I'm still feeling a little sick. I will never binge again!! Not only because of the attack but I just felt icky.

Goal- No greasy, fatty foods!

    Marylee - I'm so sorry. Those attacks sound horrible. That's a lesson well learned for sure. LOL - it's not funny at all but I did get a kick out of your "just feel icky" description. I've been there and it's not fun !

    Marylee - I agree with JeanieMarie1946 - you should see a doctor. I don't have gallbladder issues but have known people who do, and the surgery is usually outpatient surgery now.

Next time maybe eat a healthy meal just before you go to the barbecue. And be sure to drink your water while you are there. It will be easier to just nibble on what is offered at the party, and you will still feel great the next day!

  Hi Marylee56,

Years ago I had gallbladder issues big time. It got to be so bad that even water (the minerals in it) would cause issues. Repeatedly, I went to the hospital to have my gallbladder "cooled down" as they put it. Eventually, I had it out. That was one of my better decisions. Today, they remove gallbladders so efficiently that recovery is very fast. Talk with your doctor ASAP. There is no reason to have to contend with an ailing gallbladder in this day and age. A friend of mine also had hers out years after I did, and she was back at work after about 3 days and a weekend. In the meanwhile, be aware that roughage can also bring on an attack. It's just not worth the pain. See your doctor.

    Well, what a fine lesson you learned "the hard way", huh?
I have eaten well all week, then on Saturday, had an overwhelming urge to eat a Jack in the Box Ultimate Cheeseburger (two patties) and fries. Mind you, it's the only thing I ate all day, so I did not go over my allotted calories, HOWEVER, this morning, I was sorry. I felt "icky" as well, and not only that, but sluggish, and I had to spend some time with the Tidy Bowl Man this morning as a result. I guess we both learned a lesson.
The bright side is, NOW WE KNOW, right?
It ought to be a good deterent if nothing else. What a way to learn, though.

Well I went to a friends house to weigh myself today and I was down 2.5 lbs from the last time. I joined SparkPeople July 15th so it has been 27 days I had lost 8.5 lbs in the first two weeks. So total it is 11 lbs in those 27 days. Woo Hoo!

When I was in my 20's I lost 100 lbs eating the same things and I lost 3 to 5 pounds a week so I kind of expected those same results, but now I'm 53 and in menopause so I guess it's going to be harder this time. Bummer! Ive got to say that I am feeling better physically than I have in years and I'm more determined to lose this weight, so it really is Woo Hoo!

    Woo Woo for sure. You are doing great. I too used to diet by eating the same foods over and over again. The weight came tumbling off and it was wonderful. But... that was eons ago and things are different now. My body no longer will allow me to eat just meat and eggs - it demands a well rounded diet or it's going to revolt. I believe that the spark way is the best for me now and hope it will be for you as well.
