I finished both bootcamp challenges and only lost 3 pounds in January

Monday, February 01, 2010

Okay I am feeling a little frustrated here. I have been doing both boot camps ( New YOU and SP official boot camp ) plus walking at least 1 hour everyday for the past 4 weeks and I have only lost 3 pounds. I know that I way over eat, but I also over exercise and I am shocked that I have only lost 3 pounds in an entire month.

I will continue to exercise though because it makes me feel good. I know that I am doing right by my body. I know that eventually the weight will come off as long as I keep walking and working out.

Good luck to everyone!!!

Great job on the exercise! I'm so happy it is making you feel better.
In regards to weight loss 3lbs is better than a weight gain. I suggest you track your calorie intake if you want to lose weight more quickly. We tend to underestimate how much we eat.
Good luck,
Barbara

If you look on the Spark Blog, there is a whole article dedicated to explaining WHY we sometimes gain weight when we start a new exercise program

Don't dispair! Like UCRGIRL_ says-the weight has to come off sometime!

We all have these times when the scale does not cooperate. It is very frustrating! There are so many other positive things happening inside of you, it is definitely worth every minute you put into it! Just keep at it and the payoffs will eventually follow on the scale! emoticon emoticon

3 pounds is very good! Wit all that working out, I am sure you also gained muscle weight. How are your clothes fitting?? Are you tracking everything you eat? Getting enough sleep? If these are all under control then hang in there and wait for your body to catch up with your expectations. If not, find ways to adjust these extra issues and then watch out world cuz there's a brand new you on the way!! Bottom line --- hang in there!!

I am just getting started on SP today. How did you find the bootcamp information? My goal is drop from 220lbs to 170 lbs in a year. I'm really hoping to change my eating habits and pick up an exercise routine once again. The calorie counter today was frightening.

I agree that's pretty frustrating. May be you have increased your muscle mass with the exercise. Muscle does weigh more that fat. Whatever you do, don't stop exercising. It does make you feel good. Try eating just a little less at each meal and keep up your exercise routine.

I totally understand your frustration. I got on the scale this morning and had gained a pound when I have been eating in range and exercising more. Weeks/months like this really test your motives for doing the right thing. I know it's hard, but keep working out and if possible start tracking your calories. Eventually, the weight will have to come off. I'll plugging along with you. Good luck!

Is the SP "boot camp" that you referred to the 28 day challenge from the book?

I over drank last night

Sunday, January 24, 2010

Today is Sunday. Saturday we went to a friends house and I way over drank...not to worry though it was only Kool-Aid. LOL. I had already drank over 96 ounces of water at home but when I got there, there was Kool-Aid and I drank more then half the gallon all by myself. Then I went on to drink an entire 2 liter of Diet Pepsi. I don't think I have ever drank that much in a single day. Probably not even half that much in a single day. We were all sitting around playing board games, laughing and talking. I wasn't nervous or upset but I just felt extremely thirsty. Today I have already drank 64 ounces of water. I put in my four mile walk and I did really good about my eating. I still keep crying though and will call my doctor again tomorrow. Thanks for listening. Have a great week.

p.s walked another 2 miles that's six miles in one day. Yea me!!!

I can't believe how much you drank and am amazed you were able to play games, and weren't spending the whole time in the bathroom! LOL

I have days where I just can't stop drinking too. I have drank as much as 2 gallons of water alone.... Crazy!

Have you had a blood test? I know excessive thirst can be a sign to get checked out?
Also - I know when I am really doing well with my calories and exercise - I get a little weepy and even anxious - I think it is because I am an emotional eater - and every time I feel a strong feeling (sadness, anxiety, etc) I usually eat and I feel better. It has been a struggle for me to sleep the past month because of the change in what I am putting in my body.
I don't know if that helps - just thought I would share my experience. I would definately get a blood test - maybe you are low in Vitamin D - especially during the winter months?? I was very low and have now started with 600 mg/day - it has helped a bit.
Good luck

I am still doing great in both fitness boot camps. I am still walking four miles each day.I still have no reason for crying all the time. I personally think it is hormonal. I really appreciate any and all prayers. I hope everyone has a GREAT WEEKEND.

My hormones are a mess also. I'm very much peri-menopausal. I can relate to what you are going through. It's no fun. Congratulations for exercising in spite of the problems you are having! emoticon

Hang in there! I use hormones as my excuse for crying, too. emoticonAnd as a woman, it's your PREROGATIVE! emoticon

Congrats on the 4miles a day! That is awesome! I miss walking my mileage. :( It was so freeing and cleansing! I hope to get back to it once the weather warms up and I no longer have to work because I fell into a pile of millions! *snicker*

Once again I cried several times throughout the day. In the morning it was because my body hurt so bad. Docs say I have fibromyalgia. Later I was watching Oprah and the situation in Haiti made me cry. Then my Pastor called to ask how I was doing and again I cried. However, I have not cried since 5 p.m. today. Hopefully, the weeping will soon stop. I will call my doctor if I haven't stopped crying everyday by this Friday. I can NOT believe that I have cried EVERYDAY FOR OVER A MONTH.

I feel so bad for you. Try to get out and take a short walk. It will increase your endorphins. Sit under a full spectrum light. Meditate. Avoid caffeine and sugar. Eat some chicken, turkey, salmon, fish, eggs, dairy, chickpeas, spinach, cabbage, broccoli, asparagus, melons, legumes, Brazil nuts, walnuts, almonds, cashews, chili peppers. I hope you feel better soon. emoticon

I am really glad to hear that you will call the doctor if the crying does not stop! Good for you! It's no way to live. As I told you I went through it for 9 months while I was pregnant. What a nightmare that was. I could not take any medication because of the pregnancy.

I'm sorry you have fibromyalgia. I also have it. But it's in remission as far as I can tell. Living a healthy lifestyle, sleeping enough, losing weight, exercising, I believe, have all contributed to the lessening of symptoms. Then again it may be pure coincidence. I hope that being on SP will help you with that.
