Addicted to "getting better"...

If I have addiction issues - I might as well enjoy turning my "weakness" into a strength by learning to "addict" to things where the side effect is becoming fitter, stronger and healthier...

If I'm going to worry - I might as well worry about eating enough protein to keep me healthy - walking and worrying seems to work quite well for me...

Comfort eating from a pre-planned helpful menu I have created is also working well...

Thinking about all the things I'm grateful for - and all the people I'm grateful to have met or connected with - including all the lovely people on Spark...

Simple stuff that works...

    Yes, I am currently struggling with my addictions.... They definitely are linked in with stress and needing comfort. I am working on turning this ship around and steering back to more healthy, positive and life affirming choices. Thanks for your blog, I was poking around my friend list and came across yours. At least I know I'm not alone with my struggles. emoticon

Little things that make all the difference...

Food journaling after the event is better than not food journaling...
Meal planning before you eat is better than creating from scratch...
Menu planning from meals you enjoy, are nutrient dense and simple is "probably" the simplest and most enjoyable way to become fitter, stronger and healthier...

Not the easiest - or the quickest - but after being 70lb+ overweight for decades - I felt I might as well learn how to do this simply and enjoy myself whilst doing it...

This morning it's wet and wonderful in London because I'm about to learn how to ride a motorbike for the first time ever...

How do you measure your success?

This year I am lighter than I have "ever" been - (since beginning my getting better journey)...
I am fitter than I have ever been - full stop...
I reckon I'm healthier - my back went - and the recovery was in days - rather than weeks and months (was once paralysed and couldn't walk properly for about a year)...
I'm stronger - physically, mentally and emotionally...

I have practiced - protein heavy diets - juicing diets - scheduled timing eating - journaling - not journaling - my fitness pal - rejoined a gym - running - walking - dumbells - pull ups - book reviewing - raw food - vegetarian stuff - cooking - eating fantastic cakes - coffee / no coffee and probably a few other things...

What has worked for me is keeping a journal - and then just changing things when I get a bit bored - principles rather than rules - and learning how to eat emotionally and acknowledge that occasionally I use food to cheer me up - rather than tobacco, alcohol and recreational drugs... And that's OK - as long as I'm aware of this - and count my calories / carbs / times or whatever my current measurement is...

The quickest and most successful weight loss sprint this year was juicing for 10 days - lost 14lbs - and I've kept them off - happy days...

Anyway, wishing everyone a wonderful Xmas and looking forward to next year...

Am still interested in becoming fitter, stronger and healthier so decided to learn about juicing. Bought a juicer, 10 books, emptied some cupboard space and set a goal of 14lbs in 11 days (if possible)...

I'm on day 8 and have dropped 12lb so far - so reckon I will reach my target. I haven't followed any plan except to drink 1 fruit juice and 2 fruit and vegetable juices every day.

I haven't cut out tea or coffee, or going out or cooking for my family or going into fast food outlets to pick up food for others because I wanted to "do it" in real life and not on a retreat in the middle of no-where...

I will be very interested in measuring my weight when I start reintroducing food on Saturday as I am planning to keep the weight off...

I read a lot about colonics and other "strange" things and thought hibernating animals don't need them - so will just measure going (or not going) and not worry about it. So far - no worries...

That's about it for now...

    I am a fan of juicing, not necessarily for weight loss but for the nutritional benefits. Congrats on your success. (The only negative for me is the cleanup:)

    WOW - that's incredible progress... How 'full/satisfied' do you feel with just 'juicing'? I have contemplated buying a juicer simply for the benefits of having fresh fruits and veggies that way. I'd love to have success like yours - but not sure a woman can achieve as much weight loss (seems men drop it faster).

Learning about juicing and protein percentages of vegetables is my latest interesting "project"...

The quest for becoming fitter, stronger and healthier means I have just eaten kale in liquid form - never would have believed this a year ago...

Still writing in a journal and my body shape is still changing...

    Love mixing Kale with a sweeter fruit or cucumber in a smoothie; it takes away some of the bitterness. Kale does grow on you; I buy it every week now.
