Back on track

Wednesday, July 02, 2008

So, after my time of eating unhealthy and barely exercising (which I think was part of PMS but also, I realised, the sign of incoming migraines - I get them from the weather and am starting to learn the warning signs, and I've noticed that I crave fattier foods before hand, for some reason) I've managed to get myself somewhat back on track. I need to keep working on getting more fruits and vegetables and more fibre but it's a lot better than it was. I've also started making sure I do lots of rollerblading and walking, plus strength exercising. It's nice to know I'm back on track and still losing some weight.

I'm back into the healthy BMI range!!!!!!!!! Woohoo!!!! Still at the high end though, so I'm going to keep working at it.

So my electronic skipping rope, one of the main things I use for cardio, broke in half today. I guess I'll have to search for new forms of cardio until I get a chance to buy a regular skipping rope and just time my jumping. It was just so handy :(

:) I broke out my rollerblades and am so glad I did - the weather is perfect for it right now. Jumping jacks would definitely be a good alternative to skipping though, so I should add some of them as well. Thanks for the advice!

I've fallen off the healthy-eating wagon, and I'm not entirely sure why.

I think it may be because I'm PMSing and craving salt and chocolate all of the time, and that makes me want to go to A&W on my lunch breaks at work instead of getting some fruits and vegetables from the grocery store. And now I'm not sure if the extra weight I've been seeing on the scale is from my unhealthy eating or just the usual weight I put on before that time. I'm hoping it's only the latter, because I have still been exercising (though I need to keep pushing myself harder).

Today I'm putting myself back on the wagon. Lots of fruits and vegetables and whole grains for me.

Thanks for the support :) I've been doing a lot better the last couple of days and weighed in today and am still losing weight! Now I don't feel so guilty about those bad days. emoticon

Yay for you. Trust me I know how much it sucks to fall off of the wagon... sometimes I go a little crazy too, but the most important thing is to get back on the right track. It's so important for you to know that bad days or weeks will come and go, but the true test of weight loss is how you overcome the bad days.

You got this... you can do it! emoticon

Good day!

I feel like I had an awesome day today.

I started doing the Bootcamp workout yesterday, and continued today. I felt pretty awesome doing it plus skipping and walking. The bootcamp routines are great for me because they break up my routine a bit and get me doing exercises I probably wouldn't do otherwise. On top of that, I went to the grocery store and didn't buy any junk food at all! I filled my basket with a ton of produce and whole grains to help make sure I meet my goals, plus some chicken breasts to get my protein. Wooooo!

Progress Report #2

It's been a pretty good couple of days. I've been eating well, most of the time, and have started including more fibre in my diet. I've noticed that by drinking more water, sleeping at a fairly regular schedule and eating better foods, I've been feeling a lot better and my skin has been looking healthier. And I weighed in today (for the first time in a while since I didn't have a scale) and I've now lost a total of 6.5 pounds! That's about a third of my total goal so I'm really happy with it.

I've pretty much given up coffee, tea and soft drinks, except for a cup of tea about once a week, and white bread is pretty much eliminated too. Now it's cutting back on the chocolate that I really need to work on.

I'm still trying to include more strength training in my routine; this week and next it's my major goal to make sure I do strength exercising three times each week.

General life is good too; I'm getting more used to grocery shopping and planning ahead with meals to make sure I don't have to grocery shop too often. I also have spent time in the garden, including some herbs which will help with my cooking. Yayyy!
