I'm back

Saturday, January 25, 2014

I haven't blogged since October 2012!! I fell off the wagon emoticon

I'm back. I was doing the medifast and lost 30 lbs but then I tired of going around the summer time and by Christmas I was up 20# and back into a tight size 14 and feeling more comfortable in size 16. Not cool.

So, here I am back on Medifast and into my second week. I lost 2.5 lbs my first week so I am encouraged. I'm not being as strict on the Lean and Greens as I probably should be but I'm keeping the carbs low while still enjoying my life. That's the key isn't it?

We did a little spoiling of the diet on weigh in day. We went out to dinner at the Sushi place with a friend and I had Yaki Udon (rice noodles with Veggies and beef), It's what I always get when I got to this place and I love it. We also had some Tempura veggies, edame and all three of us shared a Tempura cheese cake to keep the calories down and keep spirits and enjoyment up.

Back to the diet today.

Happy Fall

Monday, October 15, 2012

When the food and Wine festival starts at EPOCT it marks the beginning of the fall season for me. The Halloween season, for me is kicked off with AMC's Fear Fest and for the last three years the Season premier of The Walking Dead. I love this time of year! The weather cools off (a little bit in Florida, at least.) and the decorations go up.

The week started this year with the "Crazy about Steven King" movie marathon on AMC. I watched The Dark Half, The Dead Zone, Cujo and Pet Semetary. (a fave). So that was fun.

Unfortunately I missed the season premier of The Walking Dead because our Cable went out literally 15 minutes before the show started. I was so bummed. That also meant probably no, New Jersey Housewives and certainly no Talking Dead at 11pm. It was all I talked about all day. If you saw my facebook and my twitter feed I had the countdown when ever I had a moment to make and update. Very disappointing. Hopefully it is available for replay or on AMC on Demand soon, Alas I still have AMC Fear Fest which is 19 days of scary movies 24/7. Score!

I put up some fall decorations over the last few days. We really don't have much.

Smack my head

Friday, September 21, 2012

I'm glad the work week is over. I don't say this in a "Oh my god, I hate my job" kind of way like I used to. I no longer dread going to work. Trying to learn a whole new approach to patient care, protocols, policy and procedure and being responsible for every patient need is exhausting. But I love it.

Yesterday I was supposed to be at the desk with Linda my preceptor but she had been charge the day before and wanted to get back to the bedside so we ended up trading spots with Stacie and got a team of 6 patients. (nurses with orientees are supposed to have no more than 5) But we ended up discharging one within the first couple of hours. So that left us with 5 and we didn't get the next admission so that was cool.

I have to say that nursing is very interesting. Beyond sometimes feeling like a highly educated waitress there is the figuring out the little puzzles you are left by a physician, deciding if an electrolyte needs replacing, or many other things. For example, I have to read every progress note to figure out what the docs plan is, if a consult is needed (if they don't outright order it, themselves,) and make sure they have ordered or obtain an order for what is in their plan. It's pretty neat. I think.

I was pretty exhausted last night when I got home. I barely made it an hour after getting home before I feel asleep on the couch. I didn't even watch Glee!! IT was a good exhausted though.

When I arrived from work on Wednesday evening I went about cleaning up my kitchen and I went to pick up a small box from some medifast food on the floor. I bent to put in the recycling bag and I misjudged the distance and smacked my head on the of the "odds and ends" drawer. I literally poked a tiny hole in forehead just above the inner corner of my left eyebrow. I was bleeding a little. Eric immediately got some neosprorin and a small round bandaid and got the bleeding stopped and placed the bandaid. He then got a cold pack and sat me down in the lay-z-boy and put the ice on my head and covered me with a blanket and told me to sit and relax. How sweet is that? Luckily, I didn't end up with a goose egg above my eye because I iced it for a couple of hours on and off.

I'm off until tuesday. I'm going to give myself a break today and do light cleaning and go to old Navy where they have my beloved Rockstar Jeans on sale for $19 a pair (down from $34). Too good a sale to pass up!

Thank you for your hard work! So glad that you didn't hurt yourself worse...though that had to be painful. Enjoy your time off!

I'm glad you didn't whack your eye!! Congrats on picking a good one. emoticon I'm proud of you for becoming a nurse. We are going to need so many as we baby boomers really start booming unless we mend our ways and start being healthy. We never did do as we were told however. To quick to question everything. Like, I'm wondering right now if I'll ever be able to buy jeans in Old Navy???

Things are coming together

Friday, September 07, 2012

I signed my job description yesterday between patients in the emergency room yesterday. (then I stupidly threw it into the recycle bin never to be retrieved again) I also received instructions for the week coming up.

I'll be off on Monday. Tuesday through Thursday I'll be in hospital orientation (mostly Meditech training I think) from 8am until maybe 5 (I wasn't given that specific ending hour), Friday I will report to the nursing unit at 0645. My pay will be about $0.18 more than I am making as a PRN respiratory therapist but this new job is Full time with Benefits! So that's really good. I'm excited You may not hear from me much if at all next week.

Today's Gratitude:

I am thankful for no weight gain last week because I cheated big time.
