Food has gotten such a bad name from its content and the benefits it provides. The bottom line is that food is an energy source and should be used as such. Portion control of any food is the key to having the right amount of energy your body needs. Combined with exercise, food portion control is what leads to being healthy.
By no means is any food off limits, how much you eat of the food is of utmost importance. You don't have to never eat a specific food again because of its high fat or sugar content but having those foods infrequently or in portion makes all the difference.
In one of my Nutrition courses in 2007, the professor said that studies show people who eat higher fat foods but get in plenty of exercise are just as healthy as people who ate higher fat foods less frequently. We have to be aware of our complete lifestyle and not blame things on food as the culprit.
I don't believe in fasting, cleansing, surgery or not eating a variety of foods for your calorie intake. To each their own, I am not trying to discourage anybody who believes in those things. I believe in natural weight loss, going to the grocery store and preparing foods of every food category.
The program I am following is L.A. Weight Loss, an American program developed by dieticians. The food categories are starches, fruits, vegetables, dairy, fat and protein. By eating a variety of every category of food in portion and exercising, the program is very effective. My first weight loss from 2005-2007 yielded 187 lbs and 74 inches lost!
My Nutrition course states that protein is of utmost importance in your diet because your body does not naturally make it. I am a meat lover and in portion you can eat whatever protein in portion. Chicken is the healthiest meat and I eat 8 oz every night for dinner. It holds me for the night so I no longer eat anything for the rest of the night.
Superfoods contain many benefits and one of those that count as a protein is eggs. I have 1 egg as a 1/2 to count towards my 2 1/2 proteins for the day every other day. I eat a tablespoon of peanut butter every other day.
Broccoli is a superfood in the vegetable category, I eat that every other day at dinner time to stay full for the night. I try not to eat after 7 pm and I use a small plate at dinner.
I don't feel deprived of anything and I do not feel hungry. I have found great success in this natural way of eating. My 2nd weight loss following the L.A. Weight Loss Program has yielded 97.2 lbs lost!

As the obstacles come flying your way, don't let them hinder your effort in caring for yourself. I spent 3 weeks with the flu and pink eye, a sore left calf 3 times from elliptical workouts, right shoulder issues, I pulled the muscles and ligaments in my back from my 1st session back at Zumba last week, but I am stillllllll going!!!!
Throughout all the trials and tribulations of life, fight you're way healthy, don't let setbacks get you down. Fight with everything you have to be the best you and you will feel great in the end.
I lost 3 lbs after my 2nd Zumba session last night and I went into it still having a sore back from last week. When I came out, I was feeling amazing relief in my back and boy did I have fun!
Tonight I did my 1st 45 minute elliptical workout, I feel great! I did great on my Nutrition today so really looking for those results tomorrow! I have been fighting the same 4 lbs since Christmas, I am 1.3 from kicking all that and really praying for it to be gone in the very near future. Clawing my way to that 100 lbs lost and I WILL be getting there very soon!
Are you in the fight, going strong, challenging that very moment you think you want to give up to get to the next step?
I am and you CAN too!
