From the 1st time I watched a video of a former coworker at Zumba class, I had an interest in Zumba. I love to dance and I also love music so this form of exercise is a passion for me.
Above is a pic of me after my 1st Zumba class
From the variety of music including Latin beats to the choreography that is so fun, Zumba is a thrill to participate in. Although it is very physically challenging, the majority of the time doesn't feel like you are working out! Their slogan "Ditch the workout, Join the Party." rings true for me. The adrenaline is coursing through my veins just thinking about going back to Zumba class tomorrow night! I have missed it greatly and only left because I moved far away from my class. They didn't offer any good Zumba classes around town but they are starting to offer new classes so I really hope I like the instructor.
The instructor really makes a big difference in your experience of Zumba. The instructor has to be motivational and move well. It is also nice if the instructor is not overly fast in the moves or confusing in the choreography. I found one of the best Zumba instructors I know at a gym to begin with. I was happy she branched out to a school gymnasium to allow for her massive fan club. I have also found instructors at gyms that weren't actually doing Zumba Fitness, they pulled a mat on the floor to do exercises or did aerobics. This is not Zumba!
If you are in an authentic Zumba Fitness class, you know it! I can't contain my excitement for tomorrow night, OMG!!!!!!!!!!!
I started Social Dance in September 2011, I was sweating a lot during class because I was 17 lbs heavier than I am now. Plus I had never done that type of dancing before so my body had to get used to it.
We signed up for a 2 hour Salsa/Bachata class to accompany the other 7 Dance basic, so we did 3 hours of Social Dance a week.
Today was the start of our advanced Social Dance classes learning Samba and more advanced Merengue. When we got home, I did my exercise ball routine and weights. I increased the reps on the abs on the ball. I am so proud, over time I have become more fit and able to get in a full workout!
It feels good to know that I can do more and more as time passes. I did great on Nutrition today also!
I did well today on my Nutrition and was motivated to workout. I followed through with 30 minutes on my elliptical despite my sciatica hurting. I feel great now, here are a few pics from my post workout! Hope you all had a great day and did well for your own health!!!
The human mind sometimes thinks it has an idea of how much or what it should eat. Research studies have been done on cravings and it has been proven that people don't know what or how much they should eat.
The only way you can be sure you eat properly is by having tools to give some precision to knowledge you possess. My food scale is my ultimate tool to gage how much I am eating of essential Protein or cheese. The importance of protein is high because it is not made by the body, you must consume it. Dairy is especially essential for women's bone health. My other tool to calculate portions is the liquid measure cup in which I measure juices and ingredients.
If you just look at food and say I think that is 8 ounces, you aren't doing yourself any favors. We must rely on tools to help us be somewhat precise in our health efforts. Possessing these tools is not the only piece of the puzzle, you must also possess the knowledge of how much you should measure out.
The body needs a variety of foods per day for optimum health. Having the correct amount of each food group and the correct portions is very important for optimum health.
Portion control is one of the biggest problems society faces on the Health front, with the abundance of food, it can be difficult to be healthy.
Do you know the tools to help you be healthy and possess the knowledge on what to do with them?
To stay within acceptable reactions, treating yourself badly can be an option that you turn to when you don't know how to deal with emotions. When someone points out your flaws, it makes you feel worthless and you may turn to food. Finding a different way to react is crucial to save yourself.
Although you might experience binging or emotional eating occasionally, you have to catch yourself in the moment and figure out why you are reacting by eating. There are much healthier ways of coping with emotion that will not harm yourself. You have to separate yourself from the food and think of other activities that would occupy you.
If you have a binging episode, the best thing to do is own up to it because if you are in denial, there is nothing you can do to rectify the situation. Even if the people you tell are upset about it, they can help.
Love yourself enough not to "trash" your body with food and feel disgusted after. You ARE worth being healthy and nobody should have the right to make you feel unworthy.
Forgive your actions and make amends with yourself to do better.
