Whether it be the # on the scale telling you how many pounds you weigh, the # on the food scale calculating the ounces of essential protein or cheese you will eat, or the # of fitness minutes spent, nothing can measure up quite like the feeling of wellness.
I don't hold too much stock in #'s, I use it rather as a base board for gaging approximately what I have accomplished or what I am putting into my health. From a # we can gather how far we are from the finish line and how far we are from the start. The number can mean progress, the number can mean you need to put in more or less effort.
Getting overly upset about a # is not worth the effort or time because you can spend that improving #'s, by doing more exercise or a different type, doing the calculations for Nutrition, etc. A better measurement of success can be a tape measure, muscle tone happens when weight loss on the scale doesn't. Measure your inches lost when you have trouble with the scale. Muscle weighs more than fat so it will increase your #'s on the scale but it will burn fat eventually so it will make your clothes size change and make you look better!
Use #'s to guide you but don't have complete faith in them, have faith in a Nutrition or Fitness program that it is going to work. People fail programs, not programs failing people. Best of luck in 2012!

Weight Loss and Fitness are a lot of work and in the end, goals are attained through dedication and hard work. If you believe you can work hard then dedicate yourself to the healthy journey. Rededication may be necessary many times over in order to reach your final goals.
If you put forth the effort, you will see progress, if the progress doesn't come right off, keep the dedication high and it will come.
From the battle of food monitoring, to being motivated and following through with fitness, effort is the one factor that will make or break you. We have to leave the excuses behind and just DO what is the best for us. The easiest thing to do is give up on yourself and take care of anybody else's problems and needs. In the end, you cannot care for anybody if you don't care for yourself.
Maintaining the effort is truly a struggle on the journey to being healthy, look for motivation in people who are really putting in the effort to keep you going!
Take good care and dedicate yourself to YOU, I am!!!
