Have you ever wondered what you were thinking when you found yourself in a difficult situation? I have had many moments such as this in my journey to health....
First of all, when I found myself at 313 lbs in December 2009, it was difficult to just to basic things in life such as climbing stairs. My first fitness challenge when I met my husband at this time was climbing 4 flights of stairs 6-7 times a day in my husband's apartment building.
My next challenge was to get back to a gym, it was an embarrassment to say the least at my size and knowing how fit I was 2 years prior at a gym.
The 3rd challenge was starting a Zumba course with an instructor who had last 95 lbs and was a breast cancer survivor.
Above is me after the 1st Zumba class.
Have you ever wondered what you were doing when you found yourself in a fitness activity and you felt like you were incapable?
I was aching in my legs and back for 1 year before I got used to Zumba.
The 2 hr Zumbathon I thought was going to kill me the first time I did it...
When you are surrounded by many fit people, it is embarrassing to struggle in fitness, but it is the ONLY way you will ever get to a better fitness level!
The next challenge was 3 1/2 hour walks with my husband who is dedicated to help me lose the weight.
When someone pushes you to the point of pure exhaustion and farther than you wanted to go...you discover what you are made of!
A new challenge, Zumba toning sticks:
A friend encouraged me to do a 7K Spartan Race, big, big challenge but I did it!
After the race I was covered in black and blues, scrapes and the thought that I struggled tremendously running but I EARNED a medal!
Me out riding a bike after a 15 year lapse of owning 1.
Me hiking a mountain.
I have done so many challenges in 2 1/2 years, it is amazing how far I have come in my fitness level and how much weight I have lost.
I have dropped over 100 lbs and I can climb mountains without being sore the next day!
Do you wonder why you find yourself struggling, because you are making positive change!
Nothing can take the place of hard work and you will never regret the results it will bring!
