Gettin' my guns! 140 lbs down!

Monday, April 14, 2014

Well... I started lifting in January... The process has been one of the best things I have ever done for myself! I have gained so much and learned more than I thought possible about myself.

Lifting weights has given me health, confidence, strength in more ways than I imagined, friends... And the list goes on.

I am now a gluten free vegan... It has been a journey to finally cross the finish line to being completely animal free... I am two weeks in and am not sure how long I will continue the journey... My goal was one month living it completely in mind body and spirit... I will re-evaluate after the month is over, but I know that I am enjoying the benefits spiritually and health wise, so I imagine it will continue past the month! It is hard to eat out though... Makes cooking at home a much more attractive option... So a bonus there! ;)

I am hoping to lean out some now... So not adding too much more bulk... Wanting more definition ;)

Well... Not too bad for 140 lbs lost and my life found ;)

It's a real balancing act...

Wednesday, January 29, 2014

So... I am having huge success with my new training/workout regime... The scale is staying put, but the clothes are getting more and more loose... belts are getting belted tighter... workout clothes are being traded in for smaller ones... but...

I'm ALWAYS hungry. My body has turned into a super efficient calorie/fat burning machine.... I am having to eat every 2 hours at the latest...

I'm getting pretty good at packing many small meals and snacks for each day... leaning heavy on the protein based foods to get me through the day.

Although it is uncomfortable to be hungry almost all the time... it's such a good feeling to know that my body is working and hopefully using up all those fat stores :)

although I am happy to be feeling the losses.. I am hoping that the scale begins to show more of my progress too!

Have a healthy day!

Good job! I tend to eat more with my workout regimen, but I've found that I have to be careful what kinds of calories I take in. I try to keep the starchy carbs low and focus on tons of veggies & meats....and oh yeah, peanut butter!

I need a new belt!

Friday, January 24, 2014

So, the scale is still not cooperating with my efforts... but... based on the fact that I am actually going to have to go buy a new belt, I would say that things are going well!

The belt I am wearing was the one I have had throughout this journey, I had it before I gained all my weight, and now it is time time to trade it in...

It has been chewed on by my dogs, I've punch holes in it as I lost my weight.... It is currently folded and tucked into my belt loops to keep it from flapping around... This belt and I have seen a lot together...

That being said... It rocks to actually need a belt to keep my pants up these days!!! Yahoo!

Bring the burn!

Wednesday, January 22, 2014

I think that as I move into the second week of my new life challenge, the hard work is about to start paying dividends... not that it hasn't already... 8 lbs down... more than 2% body fat down... BMI down a couple points...

The first week was a given... drink water, exercise, eat within calorie range = lose weight...

Started adding muscle with some serious strength train too... this throws the balance off a bit and can sometime be very confusing when the numbers stall out on the scale...

But alas... we have started moving again! So... I'm excited to see how to keep things moving! It's kinda like a science experiment now... which formula is going to work the best?

Enjoying the process. Enjoying the results!

Have a healthy and active day!

Winning! Loving my new way of life! 134 lbs down.

Tuesday, January 21, 2014

Well, the scale still isn't giving it up easily... but there are a few reasons for that...

First.. I know I am adding muscle like crazy... so the scale will hide those losses for a little while longer... until it just cant keep up with the awesome calorie burning machine I am building ;)

It's also that time of the month... so I expect that a loss will be coming my way very soon... once the water weight goes away...

Also, because I'm working out so hard, my body may be holding on to every last calorie it can... so I will probably need to cycle some of my days with higher calories soon... this is a scary thought... eat more to lose weight, but it works :)

I have also made the realization that I finally view food as nourishment instead of enjoyment (for the most part)... Although I work hard at making sure my foods are very appealing and tasty, I am no longer feeding myself unless it is for health reasons... and I am doing this 4-6 times a day in very small meals. No more crashes and now my tummy actually lets me know when to feed it... so I keep 100-200 calorie snacks/ meals around at all times. Every time my tummy growls now, I think to myself.. I am burning fat now :)

I have been making a very concerted effort to stay busy and active as much as I can... it's actually becoming addictive :) Yesterday, I went to the gym and worked out with a friend for 1.5 hours doing spin bike, elliptical and abs... then went for a 14k bike ride outdoors... then back to the gym later for a whole body weight training session... I felt like a rock star! I actually felt like I have wanted to feel for more than ten years... what a win!

No longer that girl who couldn't make it up a flight of stairs.
