Finding myself once again.

Thursday, December 12, 2013

When I started this journey of health and fitness over 6 years ago, it was all about me. I made sure to put myself 1st if even for just 20 minutes a day, 3 meals a day.

Then I decided to share my passion with others and to become a fitness coach. Helping them, guiding them, giving them the tools it took to be successful and to get to their goals.

I then decided on top of coaching to get certified and teach group fitness. A true passion of mine as I just enjoy working out with people and seeing them get results week after week.

Fast forward to today. I am a coach, a fitness instructor, but in an odd way, I have pushed my own health and fitness to the side to make sure others are reaching theirs.

I guess in a way, I thought that by doing all this it would help keep me accountable and while it has, it has also left me not giving myself much alone time for fitness and health.

I don't struggle with anything else more than anyone else, but sometimes balancing the act of motherhood, being a wife, a volunteer, a coach, an instructor, a taxi driver, a cook, a cleaner, a referee, a friend etc......time for myself is stretched thin.

I had a few AH-HA moments over the past few months. I have started instead of taking those moments and getting to them later, I started engaging in them now and IT FEELS WONDERFUL. I am still all of the above things, but what good am I doing anyone if I am not happy with myself?

Stopping and taking my own advice lately and I must say, I give some pretty good stuff here. emoticon

So anyone reading this who feels guilty for taking time to themselves, don't. You deserve it. You need it. It makes you a stronger and better person for doing so.

I did the exact same thing which is why I am here at SP. It is really important not to lose yourself while helping others. Best of luck in the New Year.

Nutrition is always my biggest downfall on this journey. It took me a long time to put the nutrition/exercise equation to proper use.
I love to workout. I have for many years now. I love to eat healthy as it helps so many factors in my life, I also love sweets. Oh the things I would do for sweets! emoticon

I know what I need to do and that is to log my food. I have had the best success when I log it. I know it is not a forever thing, it is just something I need to be strict about and log honestly.....good or bad.

I am starting a Shakeology 3 day cleanse Monday. I like to do them once per season and they really help me to refocus on my nutrition.

Getting rid of the garbage.

Sunday, October 20, 2013

It is crazy how certain foods can slowly enter back into your nutrition plan and before you know it, a treat turns into a staple.

Tomorrow is Monday and Monday's are a perfect FRESH start and that is exactly what I am going to do.

**My coffee is being limited to 1 cup, not 2 or 3.
**My snacks are going to be smaller and between 100-150 calories instead of me just grazing all afternoon.
**My after workout snack will be just that, A SNACK, not another small meal that I easily started falling back into.

Looking forward to being back on 100% and having my results shine through!

Just that kind of week.

Saturday, October 12, 2013

You know how it goes, you have one of those weeks with so much to do and you get stressed thinking about how you are going to tackle it all.

So you tackle the week, tired.

But then, like this morning, you make that cup of coffee, step out on your back deck where it is just cold enough to see your breath and you take in that first deep breath of your morning and you think, "I do what I do for my family."

I had a week like that. Kids needed to be 2 places at once, mom needed to be 2 places at once and as the hubby was getting home from work, I would fly pass him, give him a kiss and jokingly tell him I would see him when we are 65 and retired! emoticon

But in all the business this past week had, I also caught myself staring at my kids getting almost lost in them with emotion of how fast they are growing up, how beautiful each of them is, how independent they are becoming. I teared up a few times just thinking how lucky we are to have them.

Is next week going to be any different? No, a few more weeks and things slow down for the kids over the winter....and I think they are ready for some down time as well.

I may get up earlier than the roosters, I may go to bed later some nights than others, but this is my happy life that my husband and I have built. It may not run perfectly, nor smoothly, but it runs.

Have a great weekend everyone.

A place where fitness and health are accepted!

Wednesday, October 09, 2013

Sparkpeople was what started it all for me on my journey over 6 years ago. I was introduced to the site and it helped me keep track of all I was doing and accomplishing.

Life changes and sadly I stepped away and moved on to other sites to help stay in contact with friends/family and to promote my business and successes, but sadly, they are not always taken on with a smile.

I have wanted a place to blog without being judged(and Facebook is not the place for that if you don't want to be judged) and I just love the atmosphere of Sparkpeople, so I am going to make a valid effort to blog here and capture again what I was drawn to in the first place.

So here is a little of what has been going on in my life.

I am a very happily mother of 3 daughters who are all in school now, which is a great thing, but I am still trying to find my "place" with all of this. I thought I would enjoy some time alone, but 5 weeks into the school year and I am still trying to find a will happen, I know it.

My husband works very hard to support our family and we just celebrated our 14 year anniversary in August!

I am still TURBO KICK certified and teach 3 classes a week and I got INSANITY certified in May of 2013 and teach 1 class a week of that.

FItness and health became a major role in my life 6 years ago and I am proud to say, they have become not only my job, but a normal lifestyle.
Always room for improvement, but the goals are always within reach, not so far away that I get discouraged.
I have been a Beachbody coach for almost 4 years and it has helped to keep me on track and helping others who are in a situation that I was once in. ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!
