Thanks for the previous prayers

Monday, September 26, 2011

Many months ago, I had requested prayer for my best friend's sister, Sarah. At the end of April, she had a stroke and was in a coma. She had just turned 23 years old. In July, there was a decision to remove her feeding tube which was the only form of life support she was on. Sarah finally went home to be with the Lord this past weekend.

One last time, I'm asking you to pray for Sarah's family. Her parents are struggling with her death and it is really taking a toll on their health.

You guys are the greatest. Thanks

Relay for life

Thursday, June 02, 2011

Tomorrow evening and on into Saturday morning, there will be Relay for Life events through out Missouri. I have gone in the past, for a short time, to support friends who are survivors. This year, I will not only be going as a participant and a team member. I have many friends who are survivors that I love and support. This year, however, I will be walking in memory of a life long friend who lost her battle to cancer after a 17 year fight. Diane, you are and inspiration to anyone who has a battle to fight. Thank you. you are truly missed.

emoticon emoticon Hugs & great job! I am also going so I can celebrate that my DH is cancer free for almost 2 years! And to celebrate that although my Dad isn't cancer free he is fighting it!

I hope I see you there... I will only be there for a bit -- I'm also participating in a Zumbathon to raise money for Joplin then I may go back to the Relay.

Such a great event for a wonderful cause. Sorry for the loss of your friend. I recently lost a patient who became a dear friend to cancer as well. Please keep her in your thoughts during your walk. Thanks.

Prayers are working for Sarah

Tuesday, May 17, 2011

Last week, I requested prayer for my best friend's sister. She had suffered a severe stroke and was at one point not expected to survive. Since then she has had 2 surgeries. She has been breathing on her own. However, she is still in a semi-coma state. Her eyes have not opened, but she has eye movement under her eyelids. She is moving her arms and legs on her own. She still has a long way to go, but is improving.

Today, she was moved to a long term care facility close to her family. That fact that she was stable and could be moved was more than the family thought was possible last week.

Thank you all for your prayers. God is doing a good work in her. God bless you all.

Major prayer needed

Wednesday, May 11, 2011

Last Friday, my best friend's little sister became very ill. Sarah is only 23 years old. She had a severe stroke which they believe was caused by a brain aneurysm that burst. She is breathing on her own and appears to respond to voices. However, the dr is telling the family that she is brain dead and that there is no pint in treating her.

The Mayo Clinic is willing to help, but the hospital she's in will not release or transport her. There is also a neuro surgeon in another city that is willing to take the case, but the hospital is not being cooperative at all.

Please pray for guidance, and wisdom for the family. Also that God puts the correct people in their path that can get things done. I don't know how to pray other than that. God's will be done. I truly believe there is a reason for this situation to happen and that God's hand is in it.

the first thing i would do is to get a Patient Advocate... they usually have them at the hospital, and be careful because i think they are usually employed by the hospital... if she needs to be released from this hospital then i don't believe that the hospital can stand in her way! As my father-in-law said one night, "this isn't a prison!" He said that one night when a nurse made the mistake of telling him that he could NOT go home... lol... my husband was there to pick him up at 1:00am...

If there are others who are willing to take on the case then this should be allowed and i would question WHO in the hospital is stopping it! Also, when it comes to transportation, maybe the Mayo Clinic would be willing to come and get her rather than rely on the transportation of the hospital who is refusing... if all else fails, get a lawyer... and quickly... if this hospital isn't providing any treatment then the quicker she is released to a doctor who will try, the better... one other question i have is, "has this neuro surgeon seen the girl?" Does he/she know how severe the stroke is?

Of course i can't say whether or not the hospital doctor is right about the girl being brain dead... can you see if she's hooked up to one of those machines that measure brain activity? Just my humble opinion, but if she's breathing on her own then that means the brain stem is functioning... not sure what it means for the rest of the brain...

so sorry to go on and on... i'm a firm believer in exhausting ALL forms of hope before letting go... so many miracles have happened because of prayer... i hope the family can get done what needs to be done... i will be praying too!

You said it so correctly ... God's will is in all situations but prayer definitely helps! I have stopped what I am doing at just this point in time and prayed for this situation.
