I live in a suburb of Chicago and am aware the people of south chicago are often without decent food choices in some of their neighborhoods. Sometimes the only choices are convenience stores.
When I was just a little thing my grandma would take me out to the fields to gather wild greens. I'm fortunate great ethnic grocers are plentiful by me but perhaps an empty lot would have dandilions greens, etc.

or Google edible wild greens to learn about free greens. remember to wash throughly to get ride of dust, dirt, pesticides.

    I let those weedy dandelions grow in the back yard so I can add their greens to my smoothies and sautes. And purslane is an awesome wild foraged green, too.

i see a light at the end of the tunnel
After 3 weeks of P.T. my hip pain is almost gone. Hopefully soon I will be allowed to get back on the bike
I have not exercised all summer

feeling really great today
Is this SADS person experiencing a high in the longest days of summer??
Or is it because my food is sooo clean? Yesterday i ate only some sugar-snap-peas ....... had mostly green juices/smoothies.... never got hungry!

the litmus test will be this August when i usually begin to feel little subtle shades of less energy, less positive emitions, etc.
by the end of September I'm a sad puppy with a bad case of SADS. October i lose my mind/self and become a negative, dissatisfied , grumpy ..........
Nov, Dec, jan. feb I am a lump on the couch moving only to hunt for sugary carbs.
Please god,,,, let this clean juicing/smoothies I'm on make a difference this year.
Wouldn't it be great if diet would ease SOME of the winter depression.

    I get the winter blues too. I've started trying to get outside more in winter (like going for walks on my lunch breaks). This year I'm going to try vitamin D supplements, too.

Thanks for reminding me with your picture that I need to get out on my bike!

    Have you tried aqua-jogging? It's zero impact on joints but still burns a good deal of calories.

Physical therapy tomorrow.
I haven't ridden bicycle in 2 months or more.
Walked a miles, slowly this morning
