I have been maintaining, which is good, considering the temptations at this time of year. Oh, I did indulge in some goodies, but I'm still 198! Yay! And even though I got to bed late last night and anticipated not being up to doing strength today, I got up BEFORE the alarm, and did the workout! Yay! I've burned above my goal calories already - Yay! Maybe next week I can get to 195 or below!

I have finally broken the 200 barrier, with REALLY concentrating on keeping in my range and adding extra exercise in the form of more weight for strength and more walking for cardio. I had driven around the block to measure the distance on the odometer, and it's about a half mile. So every time around the block is that many more calories burned! Yesterday I took our old mini-poodle Teddy, who walks at a good clip to keep my pace brisk. Maybe today I'll take his son Franky! I'm SO thrilled to have broken through! To think, I once thought I could NEVER do it, but here I am! If I can, YOU can!

Some foods just smell sooooo good, like microwave popcorn. When DH zapped some last night, i HAD to have some too. And more. Well, I gotta keep these cravings under control! Some habits are just hard to break.
On the positive side, even though the air was permeated with the delicious aroma of bacon cooking at the public market this morning, I did NOT indulge. Some things deliver more on aroma than flavor! (Ha! I think of the movie "ELF" when he sprays the fruit SCENT in his mouth!)

Well, they say to bust plateaus it's good to change something in the exercise. I'm now using a 15-pound weight for my dumbell rows and tricep extensions; I'm strapping all THREE weights to my legs when I do the standing abductions and the seated leg raises. In fact, just this morning Abi commented to me that I have muscle definition in my thighs! "Really???" (wibble wibble) AND to top it off I'm going to TRY to put in an extra half-mile of walking, when I get out of school - going past my house and once more around the block. Of course, the frequency may depend on weather conditions. But I GOTTA get off this plateau - should be easier now that I've FINISHED the Swill Colony Sweets! (oh, but there are still the Spreadables....)

I really DO want to make it by the end of the month, and to do so I must be quite firm with myself. This is very difficult in light of the Swiss Colony goodies (Incredible Spreadables! mmmmm) that arrived. But I look ahead to the trip to Cusco in Feb, and I really do want to be able to mount up in Machu Picchu without pooping out too much. I'm getting a bit more on track now that Foreman has gone home. Got the phone bill today which reflects all his calls home - OUCH!
