A truly good Friday!

Friday, April 06, 2012

In celebration of Good Friday, everything here is closed and we all had the day off. We decided to celebrate by inviting friends over for the day. We were blessed to be surrounded by the Love of Christ and the joy of the journey throughout the day. We ate together. Played together. Walked together (2 1/2 hours along the river!) Colored eggs together. It truly was a good Friday!

I did learn today that I need to be more careful when we have guests when it comes to my water intake. I forgot all about drinking my water today. I was way too busy taking care of everything else. Now I am feeling it and the scale will surely show it at weigh in in the morning.

breakfast:protein pancake, ham (20 cal), low-fat cheese (65 cal), coffee, soy milk, tangerine

lunch: grilled chicken (100 gr), 1/2 sausage, 1 cup pasta salad, 1/2 stuffed red pepper, seltzer, watermelon

snack: strawberries, cheese, 25 gr chocolate with hazelnuts, coffee, soy milk

supper: garden guacamole, 1 oz chips, 1 oz low-fat feta cheese, seltzer

Thankful today for:
-the blessing of fellowship
-absence of rain
-a refrigerator

To remind myself to drink water I have a large (3.5 cups) glass that I fill as soon as I empty it, at least 3 times. I leave it on the kitchen counter and take at least one drink each time I walk past. As usual your food pics look great.

Have missed a few of your posts, and had to look back to see what yummy things you've been eating. Must try the BioBio pizza. From Netto, I think?

What a good way to spend Good Friday!

Yes, I too get distracted and forget water when the day is so busy.

Wow! What is this?

Thursday, April 05, 2012

Ha! I had to laugh this evening at supper. My son took a bite and said, "Wow! What is this?" Imagine the shock on his face when I said, "Spinach." His response was just as great. "Well, what in the world does the school do to theirs to make mud out of it?" Everyone loved the salad and agreed that the cooks at school should be forbidden to touch the stuff. They ruled it a crime. Its no wonder that our kids are afraid of real food!

breakfast: 1 protein pancake, 1 tbsp peanut butter, 4 strawberries, coffee, soy milk, vanilla probiotic yogurt

lunch: My girls had lunch ready when I got home from class today.
Mexican chicken (100 gr), baked fries (75 gr), broc & carrots (100 gr), herbed quark (35 gr), green tea

snack: boiled egg, 120 gr strawberries, 25 gr chocolate, coffee, soy milk

supper: spinach salad, mandarin oranges, 100 gr grilled chicken, Mrs. Dash, mozz, apple cider vinegar, grape seed oil, seltzer

Thankful today for:
-the passion of Christ
-the love of family
-scented candles

I can tell you have a knack for making things taste good!

Now the God of peace,
who brought up from the dead the great Shepherd of the sheep
through the blood of the eternal covenant,
even Jesus our Lord,
equip you in every good thing to do His will,
working in us that which is pleasing in His sight,
through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever and ever.

School spinach is disgusting. We love fresh spinach in salads. One of my favorites is Chef Meg's Spinach Strawberry salad. My family doesn't like it though.

Kibbutz

Wednesday, April 04, 2012

Recently, we discovered that some of the planners of the Israeli Kibbutz grew up right here in our area and were trained at the local college of architecture. So, today, with our son who dreams of building his own city one day, we headed off to a temporary exhibit in the next town over detailing the lives of these men and their work. It was very interesting. Over the years, we have heard and read so many things about the Jewish Kibbutz, but we never dreamed that the men who started it all were from right here. The exhibit was very interesting. My son's eyes especially lit up when we learned about the modern eco-friendly settlements that are completely solar powered, mud and straw "igloos". It was a good day. Though, I don't think museum-steps count the same as treadmill-steps.

breakfast: 2 pieces of spelt bread, 1 tbsp fat-free cream cheese, 10 gr salami, 1 tbs fruit spread, 2 strawberries, 2 yellow pepper rings, cappuccino

lunch: turkey and ham sub, loaded with veggies, doritos ( 200 cal), water
My family gasped and asked, "Did you take a picture of all of our food?" Yep! That is my son on the left eating a whole sub by himself and his chips and a drink and was still hungry!

I guess those chips did me in, or maybe I was overdo for a caffeine fix or something because I came home grumpy for no good reason. So, time for a 10 minute relax and reboot session on my bed followed by some vitamins and a snack.

water, strawberries, 125 gr dark chocolate w/ hazelnuts, 25 gr low-fat cheese

supper: BioBio spinach and cheese pizza (321 cal) , plus 20 gr low-fat cheese, 90 gr tomatoes, 25 gr mushrooms, 10 grams ham, 2 cups salad with grape seed oil and balsamic vinegar

Thankful today for:
-a great Bible study
-a fun morning with my big kids
-the scent of the blue hyacinth blooming in the window - Wow!

Museum steps are still VERY good for you. Of course our treadmill and other highly intense workouts are valuable, but lots of unstressed activity at a relaxed pace is truly healthy.

Wow, you drank WATER at Subway? That's quite a commitment to healthy habits, especially with the smell of onions all around . . . I am throwing the confetti to celebrate this kind of victory!

That museum sounds neat. The food looks yummy. We had Subway for dinner on Monday to celebrate my daughter's birth month. We are doing something special each day, or giving her a small gift to celebrate. She will be 18 on the 18th.

On the Go!

Tuesday, April 03, 2012

Today was my on-the-go day. My students are getting ready for their graduation exams and that means lots and lots of extra English study hours. So, while most people are relaxing for spring break, my students are scheduling cram sessions. I gave everyone their assignments at breakfast this morning and hit the road on . . . are you ready? . . . on my bike! Yay! It is the first exercise I have gotten in in over a week due to being sick. It felt good to be active, but I could feel the "cold" still lingering deep in my chest. In my everyday routine, I feel great. My energy level is back up and I am even tackling a room-rescue project. BUT, I realized today that I need to be careful so that my body has a chance to heal completely.

breakfast: ? no idea where the pic went, but 1 slice spelt bread, 1/2 Tbs fat-free cream cheese, 15 gr turkey salami, 20 gr cucumber slices, 65 gr canned peaches

lunch: between classes, dh took me out for coffee and I ate my packed lunch: 2 protein pancakes, 1 tbsp peanut butter, 1 boiled egg

snack: apple, 30 gr fat-free cream cheese, 20 gr peanut butter, cin.

supper: 140 gr grilled chicken, 75 gr curly fries, 100 gr green beans, 35 gr low-fat quark

Thankful today for:
-the guy at the coffee shop that allowed me to dine-in with my packed lunch
-the rain didn't fall today
-a great ladies' Bible study tonight - God has made us FREE!

Do be careful. I've thought I was over being sick, worked out, and had a relapse. Not fun at all.

I've got a couple of emergency oral "Abitur" lessons coming up this week, too. Surprisingly, few of my regular students are taking a break over the holidays so it's a busy time!

Glad you're taking it slow and listening to your body's signals as you get back to exercising. Yay for healing!
