Waisting Away

Tuesday, February 09, 2010

For months now, the media has been drilling it into our heads that 35 inches is the border line for a woman's waiste line. Anything over 35 leads to heart disease, diabetes, etc. Well, I heard it over and over again, but thought, ya, ya, I'm not over that.
Guess what, the tape measure always tells the truth. I measured this morning and my waist is 38". That makes me an unhealthy candidate! Wake up call!
I have been praying for a while about where my goal weight should be. I know what the charts say, but am longing to know what my Creator has in mind for me. I haven't received any definate answer to that prayer, but I now know that my first goal weight lays at the same place on that chart where a 33" waist can be found.
So, here is to waisting away. Five inches to go!

On the run.

Monday, February 08, 2010

Our car is on the fritz. It may have something to do with this freezing weather . . . brrrrr. But that meant our family outing today would have to be via train. So, we found a destination and planned our trip and ran . . . literally, to the train station. It felt really good to be able to jog that distance in this below freezing weather. Wow! Who would have thought. . . We spent an awesome day walking around Berlin and Legoland with the kids and rounded it up with a nice leasurely walk home from the train station.

So, without wheels this week, it looks like my pedometer will be getting some extra miles in. With all of the ice we have had lately, they have lots of fender benders to fix at the garage, so it will be a while before we get our looked at.

Legoland? I will not be sharing that info with my son or husband. emoticon They are both Lego fanatics and it is looking like our twins are well on their way by default. Glad you got to have a fun outing.

A Pepsi to go

Sunday, February 07, 2010

I never considered myself an emotional eater, but you know what, when things went crazy today, I was left with a craving for an ice cold Pepsi. Well, no Pepsi in the house. The car is broken and the gas station doesn't have them (experience).

So instead, we went on a long walk in the winter wonderland that surrounds me. So, the ice cold part worked out, but the Pepsi part had to go.

Way to go on the ice cold part! You even got a walk in to boot. Nice going.

I'm a soda drinker too and sometimes that urge to have one is terrible. Awesome job on the long walk!! emoticon

I'm a Pepsi drinker, too! I used to drink one a day, but now I seldom drink soda at all. I love it and I miss it! Good for you on going for that walk. Winter is beautiful. emoticon

Fresh food frenzy

Saturday, February 06, 2010

Goal number one for 2010:

More fresh foods. Still working on that fresh fruit and veggy goal at every meal. Breakfast is my worst pitfall. If I do not plan a fresh fruit or veggie the day before, I just skip over it in the morning. Lunch and supper are going well. We are using the juicer more and adding lots of green veggies to the juice. The kids drink it and hubby and I love it.

So, lunch was taco pizza with lots of fresh veggies piled on top. Supper is salad. Now, for breakfast tomorrow . . .

That is a really good idea Diane. I will have to do that after I get groceries tomorrow.

Just made a big fruit salad for us...real easy to dish out a bowl of that early in the morning...or take along to work in a storage container to eat early in the morning.

Hey if all else fails, an apple or an orange is easy to eat on the run to add to the breakfast menu. If you have a juicer you could make up a pitcher of juice the night before.

Ooops. I forgot the fresh side of breakfast. Good thing there is a second breakfast in German. That means I still have a chance to make good on my whole food commitment. It must be sinking in somewhere though. My daughter chose an apple and a yoghurt for breakfast this morning. Yippee! If you would have offered me that as a kid, I would have wondered what planet you were coming from, and it was her idea, not mine. I guess that is the cue I needed. I think I will go for a bell pepper though. I had never thought of it as a breakfast food before my kids started attending preschool here. The first day that I saw them serve the kids pepper strips for breakfast I thought that was so weird. But now I know it is a great source of vitamin C and low in sugar. So, off to go eat a bell . . . . pepper that is.

I was watching Biggest Looser Last Night and I saw a little girl eating green bell pepper strips raw as her dad was getting them on the grill. She loved them!

I'm not a big fan of raw peppers, but I loved them cooked just about any way you can. I use them in a lot of recipes. I especially like home made jalapeņo salsa! Yum!

God Bless!
