Send those negative thoughts BYE BYE!

Friday, June 06, 2014

How many times have you questioned yourself in the middle of workout ~ "Why am I doing this? I'm not seeing any progress?"? How many times do you have the conversation ~ I can't keep up, I'm not doing the exercise correctly, holy cow my legs are on fire?
Internally we have a fire burning ~ burning to make us better, stronger, faster, healthier! Whatever that fire is, keep sparking it to make your fire burn before, during & after your exercise!
I am currently training for my first triathlon ~ 600m open water swim, 18.64 mile bike ride, 5K run ~ in less than 2 months. So my training has been much more intense & longer lately ~ doing back to back workouts on most days (these are called brick workouts). There isn't a second that goes by that I don't question what I am doing, why I am doing it and who the heck got me into this event! The minute I finish with my workout I walk away with so much pride, the feeling of being powerful! Each workout I get stronger & stronger!
Every day, every workout, YOU have the choice to get those negative thoughts from your head. You have to make the choice! You have to keep your eyes on the goal! You have to stay focused! Yes it will be HARD. Yes you will find a challenge along the way. But it will all be worth it! JUST. KEEP. PUSHING. FORWARD!

2013 goals

Wednesday, January 02, 2013

New Year’s Day ~ the time when every one sets out to make those New Years resolutions, ya know the ones that we tend to lose sight of by February 1st? I chose, and encourage my clients, to establish goals rather than resolutions. And to make it more about the year with smaller resolutions identified each month.

For the world to see, here are my goals:

* Be a good wife & make sure he feels loved, respected & feels like a priority every day
* Be a good mother & make sure each child feels loved, respected & a priority in my life every day
* Make time to send an email or phone call to my extended family frequently.

* Plan my day & work on good time management, allocating energy to all areas that day
* No procrastination
* Stay on top of paperwork & weekly/monthly progress reports
* Clean off my desk at the end of every day and plan next day’s to do list

* Establish work hours & stick with it!

* Be proud of myself, my abilities & accomplishments
* Journal my activities ~ spiritual, mental & physical
* Positive affirmations every day
* Keep in frequent contact with my friends
* Read a book every month

* Pray daily
* Work on my relationship with God, keeping my life open to Him & what He wants for my life

* Work out 6 days a week
* Plan my workouts on Sunday for the week
* Plan my meals on Sunday for the week
* Track my meals each day
* Eat clean everyday with one cheat meal per week
* 100+ grams of protein every day
* Drink 1 gallon of water a day

Fitness goals
* 10 unassisted pullups
* 100 pushups non-stop
* 5 minute plank hold

Nutrition goals
* Veggie intake will be 6-8 servings every day
* Lower carb intake, especially later in the day

    Wow, great goals - and so many!

I used to say that having many goals is not effective, but if I look back to my own 2012, almost all targets that I had set for myself, got realized in a way or the other.

How do you pray?
I do meditation for praying, I'm working on it to make a daily habit, and it's great.

I'm also interested in how you do journaling?

11 years ago today......

I looked like this

And this.....

11 years ago today this is what I looked like -- ready to become a mom for the first time! Wasn't my stomach just so "unnatural" looking? I was lucky & carried ONLY in the front!!!!

And here is my precious Nicholas Patrick, born at 10lbs 4oz 22" long!

And hear he will be 11 tomorrow! I am in awe that I have been a mom for 1 years. What the past 11 years have taught me! But am I certainly glad my stomach doesn't look like that anymore!!!!

Happy Birthday my sweet Nickel Pickel!! Mom loves you!!!

    I think I understand why you are holding your back in the first photo. Nickel Pickel is lucky to have a mommy who suffered through that in order to give him life.

Consistency has left the building -- better yet has left me!

Thursday, December 08, 2011

Oh boy my consistency has fallen by the waist side. Not that I'm eating bad or anything, I'm just not being consistent. Adjusting to going back to work full time, managing a house, 3 kids & all their extra activities, a hubby who works at UPS (oh wait I don't have a hubby this month), trying to finish Xmas shopping, start wrapping, etc. my personal training clients, coordinating my boot camp classes to start in January, I'm tired. I have not been getting up an hour early in the morning to exercise. My eating has been ok - not 100% perfect but yet full of protein, veggies, fruit, whole grains.
I *know* what I have to do, but doing it is a whole other thing. It's only been 2 weeks of me back to work and I know it is an adjustment -- hello, let's just jump right to the adjustment OK?

    Hang in there, Debi! Be patient with yourself & the adjustment period of learning how best to rearrange & manage all you are juggling. Time management has & still is my biggest struggle. But everything tends to fall into place once you figure where everything goes. :)

    Going back to work is a big change. You'll hit your groove soon. Try not to stress about it and just do what you can. Make sure to take the time for you because you need it!

    Wow, your hands are full,
no wonder you feel it is exhausting to do it all right.
Going back to full time by itself is a big challenge.
Be positive about yourself, you deserve it!

One Spark Friend in a similar situation made a list of priorities, decided what is absolutely necessary and took it easy on all other items.

Good luck!

  Lol! I like that "lets just jump right to the adjustment..." I wish it was super easy like that.

You'll probably hear this a lot, but dont be too hard on yourself. Balance it probably the best thing to strive for in life even though that balance may feel like a high-wire act sometimes. Do what you can on a daily basis and keep in mind that this too shall pass....

    It's so easy to get side-tracked this time of year. Life gets too busy. It's a hit and miss, exercise whenever you can time right now. If you're like me, you're just trying to keep your head above water. Hang in there!

    There is a big difference between being inconsistent because of self-sabotage and dealing with an overly crazy load in your life around the holidays.

You hang tuff. This too shall pass.

End of Week 1 Rock*Star Challenge

Sunday, November 27, 2011

Week 1 went great. I have been faithful every day with making good eating choices, getting in exercise & making time for myself! Although I did not log my food intake Thursday - today; so that is a goal for this week coming up - LOG MY FOOD!
I give myself a HUGE pat on my back tonight - I was/am exhausted, coming home from running to a few stores, my eyes were burning, yawning, etc & I said I was going to bed early! I get home and end up putting my running sneakers on & hitting my treadmill for a run. WOW - where did that come from? emoticon
Tomorrow I start on a new journey -- after 11 years of being home full time, I have decided to return to the workforce full time. So I have my lunch packed, bringing my sneakers for a walk at lunch time and ready to tackle this new challenge being presented to me! My fitness plan will consist of getting up at 5am, glass of water & hitting my gym (in my basement).
I'm looking forward to a GREAT week 2 -- I know I can do this -- I WANT THIS!!!!
