things you always wanted to know about me...(stolen)

Friday, October 26, 2012

Where is your cell phone? ALWAYS nearby. I'm a freak

Spouse?
Frank. The love of my life. He stole my heart at 14. It was love at first sight for me. He needed some time! It has been worth every minute. He's so awesome.

Your hair?
Short and sassy like me! Dark blonde base color with lighter blonde highlights and 2 sneaky little prices of red in my side swept bangs.

Your mother?
Was the most hilarious, dignified, matriarch of our family. She could dine with queens and cuss like a sailor. She was everything to me. I try to be just like her. She was always in my corner. Always.

Your father?
Was handsome, funny and sensitive. His legacy was how much he adored my mother. He even died on valentines day so he could be with her. He found something beautiful in every woman he ever met and cried every time he heard God Bless America when Kate Smith sang it.
He thought I was funny and was always in my corner. Always.

Your favourite thing?
My dog, stitch, movies, music, food, friends and family.

Favourite drink? Diet Pepsi, water (and occasionally, captain Morgan!)

What room are you in?
Freshly carpeted living room!

Your hobby?
Racing, riding the sand dunes, playing with our friends, reading, baking.

Your fear?
Flying! Or more specifically, crashing!

Where do you want to be in 6 years?
I want to be retied by some miracle, have both my kids married and happy and in their own house, travelling across the U.S so I can visit all of you!!! I want to be at my goal weight and doing some sort of crazy physical challenges that I could not even imagine right now,
------------------------------Where were you last night?
In my comfy lunge chair! Watching NBC comedies....

------------------------------Something that you aren't?
I'm not hateful, petty or vindictive. I'm not rich and I'm not ambitious. In not a snob or judgemental.
------------------------------Muffins?
Sure, I will eat them!
-------------------------------Wish list item?
A pantry!!
-------------------------------Last thing you did?
Went out to my back deck and petted the kitties and made sure they had food. We recently relocated the 3 cats to outdoor living quarters and they are adjusting pretty well!
-------------------------------What are you wearing?
I am vision! Black and white polka dot pajama pants, black tank with no bra and franks green flannel long sleeve shirt.

-------------------------------Your pets?
Stitchy, and the three cats, Saki, Mix, Tum tums and of course, Bubby the bulldog who comes to visit grandma!
-------------------------------Friends?
I have some really really good friends. I'm blessed.

-------------------------------Your life?
Is crazy, chaotic, busy, ever changing, and wonderful.

-------------------------------Your mood?
Great! Its early and nothing has screwed it up yet! Annndd, its Friday!!!

Missing someone?
I always miss my parents. My mom has been gone 18 years and my dad has been gone for 6. Not a day goes by that I don't want to talk to them.

-------------------------------Drinking?
A morning diet Pepsi. The only one a day I drink.

-------------------------------Your car?
2012 ford F150 eco boost, 4 WD. Its silver and I love it. I have had a truck since I was 19.

-------------------------------Something you're not wearing?
A bra cause I hate them! I will put one on when I get dressed however. And my wedding ring is on my bathroom counter.
--------------------------------------
-------------------------------Your favourite store?
Safeway! Or Target, or Macy's or kohls. I actually hate to shop yet I find myself in a store every day...

Your favorite color?
Green. It is peaceful to me

-------------------------------When is the last time you cried?
I don't know but I try to avoid it. It makes everything worse and gives me a headache.

-------------------------------Where do you go over and over?
Same two places where we walk stitch so she can be off leash.

-------------------------------Five people who email me regularly?
My sisters, a bunch of spam, customers, a coup,e of friends...
--------------------------------------

A local Mexican restaurant called Sonia's. Its small and they no exactly what we like and how to prepare it ( chicken salad,no shell, no cheese)

trigger foods

Thursday, October 25, 2012

I bought some chocolate chips. You know, for SOMEDAY, when I needed to make cookies. Well, you know how that went. They have been calling me for days. I fought that urge and yesterday I caved. Made a double batch: half white chocolate macadamia and half chocolate, peanut butter, white chocolate chip.

BUT, I am proud of myself because I baked a dozen each, then I scooped the rest into balls and stuck then in the freezer. Now I have cookies ready to go in a pinch but I'm not tempting myself having 4 dozen cookies sitting around whispering my name. I had a few cookies yesterday, bagged them up for franks lunch and for Kelly and for Kady's boyfriends lunch and now I'm done.

Progress, people!!! Do you think I'm finally getting smarter about my binge inducing trigger foods? Is there hope? I say YES! (God, they were delicious!)

I have a question for you - what, precisely, would stop a person from gnawing on frozen cookie dough? Not that I know anyone who would do such a thing, of course emoticon Let's just say I prefer dough to cookies, and leave it at that (except to add that there is NO cookie dough in my freezer or anywhere within arm's length of me). Talk about a trigger food - it is the AK47 of trigger foods, for me. Sheesh, I am such a sugar wimp. PS Those cookies sound fabulous - thanks a LOT, Miss Jan. emoticon

amberen uodate 7 weeks in

Thursday, October 25, 2012

I have been on Amberen for 7 weeks and I said I would update you all so here goes. Within the first few days, my hotnflsshes and night sweats stopped. My sleeep was gradually getting better and my irritation level was diminishing. I started the second of 3 boxes a few weeks ago and this has been really interesting.

My hot flash and night sweats have begin increasing recently but I am able to sleep longer and better. I have had fewer mood swings and my energy level has increased.

There are some certain menopausal sexual annoyances that have improved as well (if you want details, message me).
This is a 3 month course of meds that you take 1 or 2 times a year.

All in all, I have been happy with the changes and am anxious for things to level out. I will keep you posted....jan

hmmmmm, very interesting. What is in Amberen, exactly? I have always wondered about it, when I hear the commercials. I am so glad it is giving you some relief from the mean-menopause-monster.

Interesting. My hot flashes have diminished as I have been exercising more and I am sleeping better. Have not got to the point where I needed anything, but at least I now know that there is help out there. Is there anything to help speed up the weight loss, that would be nice.

Sunday Check in #15

Sunday, October 21, 2012

I hope you all enjoyed your weekend.. I spent mine tearing out carpet and cleaning and doing a lot of hard physical work. Then I ate at a BUFFET last night. I didnt go too far but I definatly could have done better. oh well. Thats life. Buffets happen. I am not going to cry over it just had a better day today.
We also saw Taken 2 at the movies, it was pretty good.

Busy week ahead but I will handle what ever comes my way. Kady and I are grocery shopping together Monday so we can plan meals and eat well. ALways nice when she is on board too. She has good ideas for meals when I get in a rut. And she will cook too! so I LOVE that...

Tell me something you are working on....

I am working on getting walking in almost every day as I was pretty lax during the heat we had.

I am spending more time on SP this week, tracking and checking in with Sparkly friends like y.o.u. I hiked this morning (haven't been exercising as much as usual, though) and I am getting stuff done. The more I get done, the less I overeat. Take care, Mama, and I am so glad your girl is on-board!

Mowed the leaves in the yard (twice), cut off all the hostas (there are a lot) and shoveled compost into my garden. Good thing I did all that, 'cause my son and dil took me to a pizza buffet and, boy, was I hungry. So, now to get back on track with ya!

Well, I went from nearly giving up to getting right back in the groove. Belly danced yesterday, walked with the doggie today. Ate well both days. This week I plan to cook all my meals and not go out to eat except to a dinner party at a friend's. I plan to exercise in some form every day. I wish you and all the Sunday check-in crowd a wonderful week!

Well, this may not have been what you meant, but I tore out my raised beds this weekend and am working on grading the dirt left so that the lawn will be somewhat flat. I am working on cleaning and getting things in order in case my job offers come through this week and I have to consider a move across country to California!

Yikes!!

Eating well too and got my 3 days of exercise in last week. Yippeeeeeeee!
