how did it go?

I stuck to my plan for the most part. I ate some junk like a fried chicken strip and a few garlic fries but I turned down a root beer float, ice cream cone, onion rings, candy, and potato chips and was just barely over for the day so I call it a success.

Having a plan really helps so what is my plan today?

Today, I am going to the asparagus festival. I'm going to eat a healthy breakfast then I will eat fried asparagus later because come on, I have to!!! Dinner is in the crockpot which is salsa chicken, one of my fave's so I will look forward to eating g that when we get home. Lots of walking and the Tower of Power is playing so perhaps dancing?????

Make a plan today guys. Even if you don't accomplish all of it, I bet you will do better than if you didn't have one. Bigmamat declared this the year of the mama...I'm IN!

Its a beautiful sunny day here in California. The day has just begun. I have many choices today and so do you. My first choice is breakfast. Light wheat toast, hard boiled egg and a couple slices pre cooked bacon.

I have a couple of events today. I'm gonna walk around a car show with my neice and her step kids then head to another town for a race. We are the leaders of this association and we have had some changes that are creating a lot of drama and tension. Guess what that makes me want to do? Yep, eat! Last Saturday at the races I ate an entire large bag of BBQ chips. By myself. Not to mention nachos, chili dog, cupcakes.....

So I obviously need a plan because I am not going to undo all the good I did this week.

What am I gonna do about it?

I'm gonna bring watermelon.
I am gonna bring a small serving size of pretzels
I will make a sand which
I will drink water and stay hydrated
I will walk a lot
I will remember who I am and will stand tall. I am the MAMA!

So today, when life tries to derail you and challenges come at you and you want to smother yourself in chocolate, make a plan. Start by asking, what am I gonna do about it?

stepping it up

I Stepped it up big time this week. I usually burn like 1500 calories a week from exercise. Kinda lame but it is what it is. This week? 4280! BOOYAH! Twice frank and I played tennis and since he is a lot better than me, it is a total sweaty workout! Plus we laugh like stoners so that makes it even more fun! And we are still walking stitch so hooray for us! I am DETERMINED and am getting serious about my goals. I am sick of being where I've been so I am gonna move on now. Here I go....

    4,280 calories burned. Yowzaaaaaa!!!! I hope you hit the tab "change my goals" at the top of your fitness page & filled in the "calories burned" box at the very end of the next screen about tracking your fitness activities. EVERY time I fail to do that, I get a curse little red-ink note from SP saying I'm not adequately fueling my fitness workout and it will mess up my weight loss. And sho 'nuff..... I don't eat enough & my body refuses to release even 1#. It's so opposite to what I think will happen when I work out hard.......old dogs...new tricks...that's me!

Keep up those big numbers & have a great time w/ Frank!

I bumped it up today in my own little way. Burned 374 calories walking the dog this evening, which I wouldn't have known without my little watch/heart rate/calorie burn thingy. Spark "map your route" is good but it doesn't take these hills into account! Zumba tomorrow!

how am I?

How am I? Let's look at that......

How am I going to keep losing weight? One day at a time, one meal at a time, one snack at a time.

How am I doing with exercise? Still walking 4 or 5 nights a week, working tennis in 1 or 2 days a week when I can con someone to play with me. Maybe I can add that 10 minute Kickboxing video back a few days a week. Yep, sounds do-able.

How am I doing cutting the crappy protein bars out for breakfast? Good actually. I'm eating real food instead.

How am I doing hormonally? Eh, we wont go there.

How am I doing with not eating after dinner? I amended it to only eating fruit if I want a snack after dinner. Yes I'm hungry and that's OK to be uncomfortable sometimes. I need to stop.

How am I? Im kind of a mess right now but I am going to keep going. Why? Because that's how I am.

    The battle of THE HORMONES...seems like we never stop fighting huh?
Well...I have been working WITH THEM...not fighting against them.
I know what's going on. I know...
So...I got up with a spliting headache...took 2 of THE PILLS just for TOTM...and VIOLA! I was feeling better within a 1/2 hour. Ready to take SOME MORE RIGHT NOW...but hey. At least it is something I do can SOMETHING about.
And that's my mantra...KEEP GOING. Stay on course...no matter what.
Its not easy but it is well worth it. There will be good days and bad days...and as long as I NEVER GIVE UP everything will be alright.
We should make a song...perhaps even A LINE DANCE. Now that would be fun.
A spark line dance! lol

    Well, I can tell you that you are doing fabulously well as inspiration. As I told you, I am recommitting to not eating after dinner since that was part of the equation when I peeled off 30 lbs last year. Anyway, I had a good dinner tonight followed by a planned protein bar (a really good kind, actually). I started to get the familiar "itch" to eat something else, then something else, then.....well, you know how that goes. But, did I? Nope, and now I am going to read to Payton and then put my own self to bed. I thought of you and that inspired me to commit at that very moment to put a stop to the night eating, for one more night. Of course, with each night I don't succumb to the silly habit of eating food I don't need, the more natural it feels. We've got this, Jan - we can handle discomfort. With enough short term discomfort, think how much long term comfort in our own skin, we will gain. emoticon I just adore you, you know. You are a doll.
