OH NO! Weight gain!

Monday, June 20, 2011

I have been gone nearly 2 weeks and I got on the scale this morning to see how I did and I gained 2 lbs. I am so upset. I can't beleive it! It has taken me sooo long to lose that much weight and now to be up 2 pounds! I am thinking about quitting. I can't do this anymore. It is a waste of time and I am never going to make it. I am tired of trying. I mean, just because I had some drinks and some chips and ate bacon everyday, I should not have gained that much!

Are you thinking that I have lost my mind? That this doesn't sound like me? Well you are right. It sounds like some of you when you get back from being away.
Doesnt it sound ridiculous?

Now, the facts are I did gain 2 pounds (but I figured anything under 5 was acceptable). I did eat bacon every day but I kept a mental track as the day went on and I was lucky to be able to track on SP most days. I had some drinks (a few every couple of days and more than a few on one day! wink, wink). I walked every few days and I did walk back up that same mountain from last October and did it easier and faster. I did nowhere near the fitness minutes I do at home.

But really, besides eating a pretty big (for me) breakfast each day, my new lifestyle is just that: A lifestyle and one I can obviously maintain fairly easily. I was gone for almost 2 weeks and 4 of those days were traveling and we all know about on the road eating. My sister and I joked we ate our way across Nevada! But we ate apples and 100 calorie packs of snacks and were quite happy with that.

I am not writing this to brag about myself but to encourage you that no matter what the circumstances, you CAN maintain. If I really had made an effort, I could have come back with a weight loss, I am sure of it.

Although my picture suggests I am a super-hero, I am here to tell you that I am not. I am just like you, someone who wants to lose weight and be healthy and live my life to the best of my abilities. I am also here to tell you that WE can do it, we WILL do it, and 2 pounds is no problem at all. That just proves I had a pretty damn good time, had some treats and enjoyed my vacation.

Those 2 pounds are already gone in my mind and remember, I am still working on getting to my 70 pounds down. 3 to go and then I will go onto the next goal.

Do me a favor today:
Get off your own back and get on someone else's who needs you. Together, we can. (why does that sound so familiar?? lol). Have a great day and I will blog later with some pix.

It is a journey to health, not a diet. You know those pounds will come off because you have established a lifestyle that guarantees it! Good for you!

Great blog. Yes, I have read some of those type entries. Maybe SP needs to add a "Snap out of it!" icon - I know I could use that reminder from time to time. I have no doubt you will do what you need to do to get where you need to go. emoticon

Way to go! Glad you enjoyed your vacation! We have to remember to enjoy life on this weightloss journey. Thanks for reminding us that it's okay to have fun, and that it's still possible to keep things under control while you are doing it. You are an inspiration to all of us! (Love your sense of humor too!) Ronda

You didn't fool me! Ha. I knew you had your tongue firmly implanted in cheek as I read that first paragraph. Good for you, on all counts!

Funny, I was reading May's Readers Digest (because it was sent elsewhere and I just got it) and there was a blurb on self-compassion. Being as kind to yourself as you would to someone else in the same circumstances. It's missing from most weight-loss advice, and it's SO important, as you have so deftly pointed out. Not giving ourselves permission to slack off, but forgiving ourselves for not being perfect.

You had me at bacon. I KNOW how to maintain, all too well in fact. Getting my backside moving again and watching the scale go down is making me furious to the point of action. In fact, I moved my hand weights onto my desk to work with at will. Your vacation sounds beautiful, fun, relaxing. Glad you're back, get your boots on and wind up to give me a swift kick.

This is why you're awesome! Always making it a learning experience for EVERYONE! You're so right though. How many blogs do we read that people sound just like? Love it! I have no doubt that you'll get that weight off. With all that bacon, it's probably water weight.

You have worked hard and come a long way so don't start sliding back down.

I ignored that 2 lb. weight gain and it ballooned to 20 so the journey has begun again.

Stick with it girl , you are doing great!!!

Ha - as far as I'm concerned, gaining 2 pounds after 2 weeks on vacation is a freakin' amazing accomplishment! Hell, I gained 2 pounds just last week, and that was after staying completely on plan for the entire week! As you know from your pre-trip weigh-in, even despite doing everything right the scale doesn't always reward you.

Anyway, keep up the amazing job and I can't wait to see the pictures from vacation! :)

So glad to have you back, by the way!!

Hi Guys

Saturday, June 11, 2011

It is Saturday morning here in the beautiful Utah mountains. I took some pictures on our ride yesterday if you wanna take a peek.

I am eating ok and walking every day and enjoying being outside and the beautiful Nature that is everywhere.

My FIL passed away on our drive up here. Frank had seen him the day before and got to say good bye. His family insisted we keep going, so we did after much debate. There will be a memorial when we get back. He is no longer in pain which makes it easier to bear.

Please dont send goodies or emails or comment on my page cause I dont have much spark time but if you want to, you can comment on this blog and I can read everything in one place. Thanks for all your support you guys! Love you and will blog again soon...

When you do everything right...

Wednesday, June 08, 2011

Sometimes it still doesnt work the way you want it to. I actually gained 1/2 a pound...lol.
Im laughing tho 'cause I have learned a lot from the past 15 months and one thing is for sure... IT WILL COME OFF, maybe just not on my demands and time line.

I may not have hit my mini goal on the scale but I am still riding high from yesterday buying a smaller top.

So Life is good, I am leaving for 10 days in one of my favorite spots in the world with some of my favorite people in the world. Who can complain about that?

Yes I will be sparking and I am plannning a very active trip. Be well, people, and thanks for the encouragement. You are the wind beneath my wings....

You might not have met one mini-goal by your deadline, but you surpassed another. You didn't let the God of the Scale throw you into a snit. You've demonstrated mastery of your feelings and your behavior and, in the long run, that's way more important.

BTW - I always seem to gain a couple of pounds when I fly. I have no idea why. Even if I don't eat salty food on or before the flight, I just seem to retain some water for a couple of days. If you're flying out for your holiday or back home, don't be put off if that happens.

I know what you mean. I hit goal on April 15. I was good for a while after that, and my weight dropped a few ore pounds. Ten I was bad, started snacking way too much, but my weight stayed the same.

THEN...I decided I wanted to lose about 6 more pounds by July 4. So I was very good again, cut way back on the snacking and eating, and amped up the exercising. So...what is the result??? Today I am just one pound below my goal weight, a gain of 3.4 pounds from my lowest weight, and this is all since I started working hard at it again?!

GO FIGURE?? It's frustrating. But a gain like that makes me want to try that much harder. I KNOW a loss will show up eventually, and I'm not going to give up. But now instead of 6 pounds to lose, it's 10. Still better than that 170 pounds I had to get off initially. I never want to get to that point again. Ten pounds is manageable. It's not as easy to lose that LAST 10 pounds as I always envisioned it would be, back when I needed to lose well over 100 pounds. But, it's do-able!

WE CAN DO THIS!
