Not sure what Tony would think of this but I swapped out my Cardio X for a bike ride today. The weather was gorgeous! 60F at dinner time. Not the usual for NNY. Decided on a late dinner (burgers on the Bar B) and a dinnertime ride. I LOVE my bike!
Wore my HRM and was pleased with the numbers. Did 6.5 miles in 33 minutes - PLENTY of hills! I burned 273 cals, 50% fat, 152 Max HR. The best part was I was in zone 28 of the 33 minutes and averaged a HR of 138. Can you imagine what my numbers would have been if I had ridden for an hour?
Did I mention I LOVE my bike?
So, please forgive me Tony. I swear I haven't deserted you, but the sunshine and warm weather were just too much to resist today. I promise I will be back with you, bringing it, tomorrow. In the meantime, did I mention I love my bike?

I donít know if itís the fact that I have 2 weeks behind me or if itís the fact that I did my routine with Cues and Music only, but I nailed this one today! I did every single move, including the Dreya Roll and every style of push up. In the last 10 minutes of the routine I wasnít able to keep up with Tony either because my HR was up too high so I had to take it down a notch, or because I worked to exhaustion. The only thing that was affected this way was the push ups. DARN! LOL
My routine was 52 min today * I burned 379 cals * 45% of which were fat cals * I stayed in Zone 22.5 min * with an AHR of 128 * and a MHR of 157. My push ups are starting to resemble real push ups. Not quite there yet but closer every day.
I definitely prefer working out without Tonyís constant dialog. I find it easier to concentrate without the distraction. I mean, letís face it, you can only stand listening to the same jokes for just so long. Right? Between the music and the fact that I was able to focus more, I feel I got more out of my routine today.
Iím going to switch things up a bit this week so I donít need to take too many props with me while Iím traveling. Iím thinking I may save Cardio and Yoga for Friday and Saturday, with my rest day on Sunday. That will mean doing Arms & Shoulders and Legs and Back on consecutive days. My yoga mat if easy to travel with but Iíd rather not lug weights with me. I may take a few bands but Iím not sure.
I noticed today that Iím more flexible than I was last week. That, too, could be from more concentration and less distraction since thatís how I prefer to do my Yoga, and many of todayís stretches were Yoga moves.
I am so glad I made this commitment to myself. I love the structure of P90X, esp. when the weather is bad and Iím stuck inside.

Kenpo X and no, I'm not sore from my crazed workout routine yesterday.
After dinner and drinks out last night and a restless nightís sleep, I didnít really feel like exercising today BUT I didnít take no for an answer. Wasnít really crazy about this one last week but today I loved it. You may recall, I had an audience critiquing me last week and Iím sure that was a huge part of my dissatisfaction. Much more enjoyable today. No awkwardness. The entire routine just clicked. The entire routine, along with my own warm up added, took me 1hr 03min. I burned 388 calories, 50% fat, Max HR 150, Ave HR 118, in zone 26:30. Honestly this one felt easy today. Almost too easy, but fun. The time flew by. I actually considered pulling out another routine but decided against it. I do have work to do around the house so I guess I should get busy. LOL!
Iím hoping for a nice day tomorrow so I can get my bike out again. If not, I may check out the Stretch X routine. Iím curious and I would like to continue to improve my flexibility. Or, I could pop in one of my endless exercise dvds that have yet to be opened. Or, I could pull out the Wii and my balance board and have some fun. I bet Iíd be surprised at how Iíve improved since I played with it last. I continue to be amazed at my progress with P90X. And it just hit me, I now have two weeks behind me!!! One more week of this routine, then a week of recovery and Iíll be in to Phase Two!! WOW! The days are flying by. And Tonyís neck is no longer in danger. I can actually say I like him in all of my routines now. Yes, even in Yog-ugh which Iím beginning to consider Yoga.

Oooowwwwwie ! But, Ö.. sort of. I completed Legs and Back, ARX and 45 minutes of Yoga X. Could I have done the other 45? Most definitely, butÖ itís so nice outside today Iíd rather do something out there, andÖ.Damn I was good today! This is the first time I used my new HRM so I hope I did it right. I think I did. During L&B and ARX I worked out for 1 hr 35 mi, burned 466 cals, 55% fat and was in zone for 18 minutes total. Max HR was 151, ave was 106. InterestingÖ..
During Yoga X I did the first 45 minutes, which, oddly, is the portion I like the least. HmmmÖ. Anyhoo, I burned 200 cals there. OK, that makes my total burn 666 cals and YES, it WAS a devil of a workout. Pun intended! I HATE anything devil related so when I saw 666 cal burn, it almost made me want to go another 10 minutes JUST to change the number. LOL! Instead I decided to stick my tongue out at the number and laugh in itís face, taking away itís power. OK, too deep? Iíll move on.
I am very satisfied with my accomplishment today and I have no doubt that Iíll add to my calorie burn once I get outside. Iím sure I can find a fence that needs repairing or dig out my bike and enjoy a ride. Although, Iím not sure my tush can handle the bike seat right now. Esp. the left side. I just couldnít seem to stretch that butt muscle out enough, no matter what I did.
I did something different today as a pull up variation. Since I donít have a bar and Iím certain even if I did, I wouldnít be able to do more than one, IF I could even manage that, AND the bands just donít cut it for me, I made up variations of each using my Bowflex. I laid down on the bench and using the bar, pulled myself up into sitting position using no stomach muscles. I did this facing backward, forward, with legs up, down, knees bent, feet on floor, you name it, I varied it as much as I could. Iím trying to mimic the pull up muscle use as closely as I can and the bands just didnít seem to hit it for me. Did it work? Iíll tell you tomorrow when I see how sore I am. It wasn't 100% what I wanted as far as a pull up feel but it was the closest Iíve come so far. I think it helped my pushup muscles too because they seemed stronger during the Yoga X portion.
OK, one thingís for sure. I really donít want to have to double up very often. Itís time consuming AND painful! I am, however, very pleased that I did as much as I did today and Iím back on track, energized and motivated NOT to skip a workout and have to make it up again!
For those who helped to cheer me on, thanks so much for your comments. As I said before, you have NO idea how much that helped get me going and keep me going today.
Tomorrow, Ö Kenpo. Wonder if Iíll feel any more coordinated than I did last Saturday? LOL! Only time will tellÖ.

THANK YOU!!!!! You have NO IDEA how much your comments motivate me. Esp. the comments from yesterday. I have been dreading today's long, self induced workout since I got up this morning. Scratch that, since I blogged about it last night. Reading all the comments and encouragement I received has given me the boost I needed. As soon as I hit POST THIS BLOG, I will be popping my Legs and Back routine in, to be followed by my ARX. If I can, I will follow up with Yoga X. If not, I will forgive myself, be satisfied with what I HAVE accomplished and set YogaX aside for Sunday.
I think the thing I find daunting about Yoga X is that it's a 90 minute routine. Everytime I think about doing it, I figure 90 minute ahead and another 30 to clean up and when I realise how long that is and the time I'll be done and ready to move on to the next thing, I feel guilty about taking that much time when so many other things NEED doing too. I need to STOP doing that, grab the bull by the horns and JUST DO IT!
I also need to get my diet under control so I can start to see a number below 174 on my scale. I was a little disappointed after working SO hard last week, to see I had not lost any. I know the whole "muscle weighs more than fat" deal but it doesn't mean I like seeing the same number any more.
Well, this is it. I've been flirting with the 170s for long enough. I leaving them! No guilt. No long apology. No "I'll miss you". YEAH, RIGHT! I don't think so! I'm ready to move on. I have my eye on someone new. 160s, here I come, ready or not. You're cuter, sexier, firmer, slimmer, trimmer, and yes, I'm being superficial, but I truly don't care. I think we'll be better for each other, ... at least for now. No promises I won't get bored with you eventually. BUT for now, let's have some fun together. You can run, but you can't hide and don't feel guilty about taking me away from the 170s. That's just life. You'll get yours when the slimmer, trimmer 150s catch my eye later on down the road. But for now, let's enjoy what time we can have together. Live for today, you sexy little number, you!
