Kenpo X Way too much on the agenda yesterday to fit in one more thing, so today was my Kenpo day. I got up first thing this morning, ready to attack it, Ö then my DH came inside raving about what a nice day it was. We donít get weather like this in NNY, in early March very often, so outside I went. Fast forward, several hours later. 3 year old filly trained for about 30 minutes, 4 others groomed, went to the feed store - a dozen 50 lb feed bags and a half dozen 25 lb bags loaded and unloaded, walk completed, and after all that, came inside and did Kenpo X.
My only complaint is I need more warm up and stretching. Next round, Iíll add my own warm and stretching before I begin the routine. OK, I lied. I have another complaint. I DO NOT like having an audience while I do P90X! Today DH and 2 DDs felt the need to critique my movements and form. I listened for about two minutes and then I told them to jump in or shut up. They shut up. LOL! Chickens!
OK, Kenpo XÖthe punches and footwork are a little confusing to keep up with but Iím catching on. I LOVE the kicks and blocks.
Week one behind me and Iím anxious to see how much further I get with week two. Oh yeah, remember those muscles that I said werenít sore any more. I lied again.

I was a little off this morning and I just couldnít motivate myself to bring it, so I waited until tonight. I was tempted to just skip it and take today as my day of rest but instead forced myself to Just Do It! It actually went by pretty quickly. I still donít feel very motivated but Iím done. I feel good about that.
Legs and Back
This was another very doable one for me. Of course I used bands rather than a chin up bar, since thatís all I had AND I CAN NOT do chin ups. The leg exercises were much easier than I expected. Next time Iíll definitely add or increase weights. Donít get me wrong. I did feel the burn but I was able to complete all the reps on almost every exercise.
Ab Ripper X
I wasn't sure if I would do this again today since I just did it yesterday or if I would put it off until Saturday or Sunday. I felt good after the Legs and Back so I went for it. I still subbed crunches for full sit ups but did all the rest as instructed.
One things for sure. I would rather feel motivated than the way I felt today. I feel like I get much more out of the workout, mentally, when Iím motivated. Oh well. Tomorrowís another day. Iím sure Iíll have my mojo back by then. I didnít sleep all that well last night due to DH having a restless night. I think thatís been the issue today.
The fact that I got both workouts done even when I didnít really want to do them, speaks volumes for the change in my attitude. Rachel, Leah, Alisa and Jessica, the fact weíre in this together is what kept me going today. Iím grateful for your friendship and support.

Shoulders and Arms - Herein lies my strength! Not only did I keep up, I EXCEEDED AND I did the bonus round! Granted, I only used 5 lb weights BUT when I got up this AM I couldn't even straighten my arms completely because my biceps were so sore! I actually grabbed 3s and 5s and figured I would be pushing it with 3s. After I warmed up, however, I felt ambitious and grabbed the 5s. Next week I'll be grabbing 8s and 10s for this work out. I'll keep the 5s handy just in case I need to switch down for form but I truly don't expect to use them much. Each set called for 8-12 reps and I did 15 -20 on every single one! These are the muscles I use in the barn.
Today also calls for Ab Ripper X. I attempted to do it right after Shoulders and Arms. S&A was 60 minutes but ARX was only 15 minutes. Easy peasy, right? NOT! Only made it through the first 5 minutes and THAT was a sad effort in itself. Yes, my abs are weak. The rest of my day is VERY busy BUT I'll try to squeeze ARX in later tonight. If not, I'll be starting with it tomorrow. I will not wimp out. I can at least attempt each exercise, right?
Working out first thing in the AM is definitely the best time for me right now. It gets me going and the pumped feeling lasts all day.
3 days down - 87 to go. The hardest part is behind me now. What is it about getting started that we find so difficult? I can come up withso many excuses if I let myself. I don't want to sweat. YUCK! I don't have time. I'm lazy. My back hurts. The list goes on and on, IF and only IF, I allow it. Well, I'm not allowing it anymore! 2010 is MY year and I will see the loss I'm looking for this year! Hopefully by summer time. I'm 17 pounds down from last March. With P90X and the ShamROCKs on my side, I can do this.
