Funny, yesterday I had plans with my daughter to meet for lunch then go for a walk in town. Well we met, the rain followed us. When we got to the restaurant we had to wait out the flood after our meal. So we decided she needed a few things and we went to walmart to get those and some steps in walking at any rate. I had a chance to help my daughter to select good food, help with a few meals, give suggestions and we laughed over some of her "ideas" and she kinds balked at some of mine. I had a chance to let her know this is a journey, not a diet. She has the option to choose and eat anything she wants. Just eat within reason.
You see my daughter bless her heart is very overweight. She is an emotional eater and like she said yesterday she eats when she is happy, mad, sad, or bored. I told her that she will have to just do something else when she finds herself heading for food. I gave her my suggestions and told her what I do. She can decide from there. she is 24 years old, she has high blood pressure and she is the mother to a wonderful two year old son. I told her she needs to think about him. If she wants to be around for him she needs to take care of herself now. I can't force her to lose the weight, all I can do is be there for her and guide her if that is what she asks of me. If I push, she will flee.....she we make it fun by meeting for lunch and taking walks. Since it rained, we are meeting saturday to give it another try.
We all have something we are trying to overcome. For me it is and was self esteem issues that I have had since childhood and then they got worse with ex husband that was very much in control of me. I lived for my two children and somewhere in there I got lost. Well i'm coming out day by day. i"m stronger then ever and If I lead they will follow. I'm hoping that is what i'm doing with my family....leading.
now i'm off to begin my new day. For each day brings new challenges for me and each night as I lay down my head I like knowing i have succeeded in doing the best I could for me.
