New year, new beginnings

Friday, January 01, 2010

To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die.
- Ecclesiastes 3:1

The seasons turn. The years turn. Lives and civilizations turn. Today, the year is a newborn. How will we choose to dress it, to feed it, to teach it, to learn from it?

Happy New Year! Happy New Beginning!

Choose Wisely!

This morning as I was reading this daily inspiration I thought of spark. This is a new year, new day, new beginning. Today is a clean slate. We can do with this year anything we choose. We can choose to bring about success or failure. We hold the moment in our hands. I for one am ready to bring about success. I'm ready for a great year. I can't explain it but 2010 feels like my year.

A couple of examples of this is a friend I work with has a nephew who he and his brother were in an gas grill explosion, the brother died, then other lived but stayed in criticle conditon, yesterday he walks into our pharmacy, bandaged but whole, now people i'm telling you i went to meet this young man and hugged him. He didn't know me and i surely only knew him through my freind and my prayers, but standing in front of me was a miracle of god. Even he said the doctors couldn't believe it. They came in that morning and told him they were sending him home. NOw mind you he still has to have treatments on his burns but lord willing he is alive. I told him i was standing and seeing a miracle. God is good. Now mind you one died, but i have to wonder was it so one could live?

Second, and not at the bottom of my list is my son, clean now and off drugs for a year, he got a job yesterday, what a new years blessing that was, and he did this on his own. I mean he did the interview, and i work at walmart and i know from personnel how great he did, and that makes me proud. pray that he continues this new Josh and that he keeps this new job. I have asked god daily for a window to open for my son and he has seen to that.

So this is 2010, new iimproved and we can make it what we will. I choose to make it great. HAPPY NEW YEAR SPARK FRIENDS, let's give it heck. emoticon emoticon emoticon

My prayers are with you and the boy who lived. I know what it is to have a child going thru the addiction of drugs. They can beat it and they can grow and improve.

Thank you again for the reminder I needed that this is a new year, a new beginning and a new me!

thoughts to share

Thursday, December 31, 2009

For those who haven't yet created a focus for next year, let me offer a few suggestions...

1. Worry less and relax more.

2. Take better care of your body, not to meet someone else's standards of weight or shape, but strictly in order for you to feel your best.

3. Plant a tree for your great-grandchildren. While literally planting a tree is always a good project, I mean this suggestion symbolically. Consider, in everything you do, how your decisions and actions will impact the legacy you leave for future generations. How can you leave your family, the political system, the environment, the whole world, better than you found it?

Have a happy and safe New Year, and enjoy a wonderful 2010.

I know some of you recieve these inspirational quotes but for those that don't i'm very glad to share. happy new year spark friends. see ya next year.

My parents taught me early on to try to leave everything better than it was when I used it, even a sink in a restroom. Doesn't take much effort and presents the next person a cleaner, more positive space. Thanks for the reminder. -- Lou

new years plan

Wednesday, December 30, 2009

Every day is a good day to make a resolution for beginning a new way of living, but the New Year's Day holiday provides a good focus for reviewing our lives and resolving to live each day with conscious attention

I'm so ready for this new year. I don';t know why but 2010 just feels like my year. I'm so close to my goals and I really want to hit them this year. I have more than weight loss goals, i have financial, and life goals. what are yours? have you really thought about what this year means to you?

One poster asked how i do it so early in the mornings, i have a routine. I get up with coffee and spark, check emails, then i get my exercise in before my shower, and then off to work. I feel a day is wasted if i sleep it away. The lord gave me this day and i intend to use it.

so think about your new year, how you want it to go, the sky is the limit, if we don't succeed we have next year and the year after that. I want to wish each of you a very happy new year, and may any old hurts, or undones be layed to rest this coming year. after all the lord has given you one more day to set things right. emoticon

You are inspiring me. I may have to start getting up earlier. Mind you, I don't sleep in. I am up at 6. But I could accomplish a lot with an extra hour!

There is something magical about a new calendar, a new year. It may only be another day but it's a milestone to measure by and to renew hope that things will be better than the year before.

"From small beginnings come great things."

To emphasize this, remember that the California redwood trees, reportedly the world's largest, and the Japanese bonsai tree, average height 18 inches, were once both the same size. Nice perspective. -- Lou

Weekly weigh in

Monday, December 28, 2009

emoticon emoticon emoticonI almost had to step back on the scales yesterday, I couldn't believe the numbers..... 140.4. I was down a pound. Me, over christmas, with candy, treats, and cake...I lost a pound. I have to say thank you spark for showing me the way. I do find that the temptations just aren't there like they once were. I guess once we stop and get the sugar, carbs, and such down to a minimum our bodies crave other things, like fruit, veggies, grains. At least mind does. I'm down to a diet soda a day. My water is way up and i love to eat the good stuff over the bad. The other night i grabbed the bag of chips, my go to snack, and I had to put them in the trash, literally, they were so nasty. The grease was just too much.

As any of us who have been here for a bit know, change is great, exercise is awesome, and eating healthy is the way. Afterall we are all here for a new lifestyle. I mean let's face it if the old was working we wouldn't be here. So good luck to my friends both old and new in the coming new year. We can make a difference in ourselvesl as well as others.

let's give a pat on the back, a kind word, a boot in the hind end, what ever is needed by someone at any given point. You may be the difference between them staying or giving up. I for one am staying. I love spark, and the friends i've made along the way are in a word...AWESOME.
