Some people are longing to fit into a certain clothing size, I am longing to fit into a towel size. There are generally two sizes when it comes to bath towels, regular and extra large. Unfortunately when you get to be as large as I am neither of these options really work anymore. You can dry yourself off but it won't fit around you. I remember as I was getting larger thinking, man my towels are shrinking. It took a while for me to realize the culprit was my expanding waistline and not the cotton or the dryer.
It was with deep sorrow I had to succumb to my weight and start using a beach towel after my shower. Now I at first tried to look on the bright side. Beach towels are more colorful I told myself. There are so many more options when it comes to pretty designs....flowers, sea shells, sailboats. I soon came to realize that no matter how colorful, it was just all out depressing to be staring at a beach towel hanging up behind the bathroom door in January.
15 mos ago, right before giving birth to my son I couldn't even secure my beach towel about my body. It is with a tinge of embarassment that I confess I used a double, or two-person beach towel for a few weeks. Thankfully I shed enough weight to quicly return to my blue, green and white beach towel. Right now it finally overlaps enough that I can once again emerge from a steamy bathroom towel clad to cool off a bit before getting dressed.
Oh, what a day it will be when I can fit into the family's extra-large towels again. How nice it will be to use them for something other than my hair. And be prepared to look out the day I can use a plain old regular sized bath towel. What shampoo and bubbles will flow then. I will most assuredly reward myself with towels of a most feminine pink, regular sized towels. Regular sized towels that are too tiny for men, so as to assure me my reward will be kept all to myself.
