Feeling so good

Friday, August 07, 2009

I'm 5 weeks post-op and feeling great. My energy level is not quite back to normal, but improving every day. I'm going back to my primary care doctor for the second time since surgery to have my blood pressure medicine adjusted downward. I'm still in the soft food stage and tolerating everything well. It's hard to get in all the supplements and especially the protein. I'm drinking more water than I ever have and find it a struggle as well.

The best news is that son #2 who is in the army is arriving home from Germany for a two week visit! I can't wait! Too bad he won't be here until evening.

It just takes time - I can guzzle water down now. That's what I did before surgery.

You will eventually be able to do like a "normal" person.

Down 20 pounds

Thursday, July 23, 2009

Yeah! It's been just over 3 weeks since my surgery and I'm down 20 pounds, my diabetes has resolved, and my blood pressure medication has been cut in half. My knees feel better than they have in years and I'm able to do more exercise than I don't know when.

Back to work

Tuesday, July 21, 2009

Today I'm three weeks post-op and yesterday was my first day back at work. I had originally planned to return after two weeks, but my doctor talked me into staying home for three weeks and then only going back part time. I'm glad I listened. Even though I'm feeling great and start the morning with plenty of energy I run out of gas in the afternoon.

First - emoticon on the first 20 lbs gone FOREVER!!!

How are you doing back at work? I go back next Monday (3 weeks after surgery) and plan to be there about half days. I'm worried about getting in my fluids and protein while working. Any tips for keeping on track?

Movie challenge

Sunday, July 19, 2009

At over 2 weeks post-op RNYGB, I decided I was up to going to a movie, but was apprehensive. My concern was because movies for me are firmly associated with popcorn, candy, and soda. I enjoyed a bottle of water and didn't even miss the snacks! This is a first for me. It gives me more confidence as I return to work on Monday that I can make a plan and stick to it.

I know what you mean, without snacks it's much less expensive!

How great to overcome something that would have been to tempting in the past. Also, alot of money saved. Keep up the good work!! Hope to be on the losing side with you one day soon!! Waiting for insurance approval.

Great Job!! That was one of my first challenges too. I took one of the water flavor packets in with me. I didn't miss the food either. Now when I go, I still take one with and a protein bar - movies are a lot cheaper now! LOL. emoticon
