It's been 2 weeks since we buried my grandmothr & heres a poem I wrote to her

Grandmom, I still remember when I first met you
Neither my brother nor I wanted to be there
But once you gave us those bear hugs
That was it for us - you were our grandmother

Over the years youíve showed us strength
You have the faith that miracles come from
You have a love that knows no boundaries
You truly have been a blessing in our lives

As I sit here and go thru all the memories
The understanding and encouragement
I learned more about faith from you
Then from my biological grandmothers

My last real memory with you - wow
I will never forget no matter how many years pass
I wanted to offer my condolences on your lost
You have lost more then most

I sat on the floor at your feet
With my head laying in your lap
Instead of me being able to comfort you
You thanked me for being a caregiver

Grandmom I know heaven has another angel
But I guess Iím a little on the selfish side
I truly do wish you were still here with us
The sun seems just a little bit duller

Always with Love

I've decided that I m not disabled I m differently abled.

I may not b able to stand to wash dishes but I can sit on a stool & wash dishes.
I cant bend over to pick stuff up off the floor but I can sit on a chair to pick things up

Its just like learning to eat healthy & to b physically active - it was all about learning new ways to do things. So thats what I'm doing now learning new ways to do things.

I love your attitude. Things will settle in until they are just second nature to you. By the way, your page is just beautiful - so peaceful and serene. Don't let anyone tell you what you can't do. If you find something that really eludes you, ask a physical or occupational therapist for help and they will come up with things that astound you. There is nothing I can't do except push, pull or lift anything over 10 pounds. THAT I can live with.

Stay Young My Friend

Stay Young My Friend

We all need to read this one over and over until it becomes part of who we are!

1. Try everything twice.
On one woman's tombstone she said she wanted this epitaph:
"Tried everything twice. Loved it both times!"

2. Keep only cheerful friends.
The grouches pull you down.
(Keep this in mind if you are one of those grouches!)

3. Keep learning:
Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever...
Never let the brain get idle. 'An idle mind is the devil's workshop.'
And the devil's name is Alzheimer's!
4. Enjoy the simple things.

5. Laugh often, long and loud.
Laugh until you gasp for breath.
And if you have a friend who makes you laugh,
spend lots and lots of time with HIM/HER.

6.. The tears happen:
Endure, grieve, and move on.
The only person who is with us our entire life, is ourselves.
LIVE while you are alive.

7. Surround yourself with what you love:
Whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever..
Your home is your refuge.

8. Cherish your health:
If it is good, preserve it.
If it is unstable, improve it.
If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.

9. Don't take guilt trips..
Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county,
to a foreign country, but NOT to where the guilt is.

10.. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.
I love you, my special friend.

11. Forgive now those who made you cry. You might not get a second chance..

And if you don't send this to at least 4 people - who cares?
But do share this with someone.

Remember! Lost time can never be found.
Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

Wine does not make you FAT ...

- it makes you LEAN ....
(Against tables, chairs, floors, walls and ugly people.)

Ignore My Whining

Wednesday, June 08, 2011

I m so lost lately.
I m frustrated by everything.
I told my hubby that I want a divorce; he of course doesnt agree.
I just m so tired of everything. I m too young to b like this.
I'm on a waiting list 2 get therapy I always seem 2 b waiting 4 something.

I want 2 exercise & I cant due 2 the bac surgery.
I want 2 swim & I cant due 2 the bac surgery.
I want 2 get my room done & I cant due 2 the bac surgery.
I want 2 work on my yard & I cant due 2 the bac surgery.

Yes in theory I know that it will get better & easier but I just seem 2 go from 1 problem 2 another & I just want 2 disappear.

In 12 hrs I will b @ the surgeons prayerfully getting good news.

I hope that you didn't break anything with the falls and the doctor will be able to give you good news. However, no matter how frustrating it is, you must follow the directions you have been given. I know it is hard to do nothing. I have been doing nothing for 9 months now and it will be 10 months when I finally see the doctor I need.

It can be very depressing and try not to make any decisions during this stressful period, e.g. divorce. Tv can become the last thing you want to do but if you want to recover you reallyneed to follow thhe doctor's orders. It seems like a lifetime but it won't be. If you do it all right, hopefully you have a great recovery and at least a manageable position that mild pain killers can let you get back to all you wanted to do these last few weeks.

You can do this and please do it.

If any of us can help get you through, contact us, you can even use PM if you want to keep it private.

Sending prayers. The stress of surgery is something I don't think Dr.'s prepare you for, & how it effects every part of your life. The frustration, sometimes anger, depression, & just being very emotional. At least that's how it happened to me & it totally caught me by surprise. Try not to make any major decisions right away.
Keep praying & Praising & the Lord will bring you thru.

try to focus on any positives that you have in your life, even if they seem small and insignificant. i am sorry that you have been going from one obstacle to another, but they've always said that god will not give you more than you can handle. while it may seem you can't handle anymore, you are stronger than you think you are. emoticon

Wow, that caught me off guard with the divorce part. I hope you and your husband can work it out. Looks like all the causes for this is the back surgery.
