N - New We're not in this journey simply to revert to our old ways. The change in our lives is real and lasting. In a sense, we're creating a new life for ourselves. Let the new you influence your decisions and activity as you continue to live smarter and healthier

It is really important to remember the past as not to repeat it. But also focus on the future n new beginnings.

I m a new person, different in many ways. I will continue on this journey of a HEALTHY LIFESTYLE for the rest of my life

Isn't it amazing to learn that the more that we change, the more that we need to change? I find that the new me always sees something that needs to be ever worked on or improved. Daily I am changing and for that I am thankful. It's a new day and a new Dawn. Happy Thanksgiving to you as well my dear dear friend. Thank you for this wonderful series of blogs. Love, Dawn

O - Observant Take notice of the changes going on with you. Are the healthy changes in your diet affecting how you feel about yourself? Are others taking notice? Do you look at food choices a critical eye? Observe the changes going on in you. They are real, and your family and friend will notice

Yes, I m feeling better about myself, I now walk with my head held high.

Yes, and as others notice I get an extra pep in my step.

I'm so-so with looking @ food more critically, but I do think twice before ordering while out.

When it comes to eating and fitness I have made drastic changes in the past year. Yet I do still eat chocolate, fried chicken, and pizza. I just now eat less and manage to stay within my calories for the most part. I also try to stay active all day. If watching TV or on the computer I take periodic breaks just to walk around the house. Instead of finding reasons not to walk to the store I find reason to go for a walk.

I find that I am able to see some changed that others can NOT see because I know my body and see the new little dimples and dips etc. This week I noticed that when I do tri-cep extensions during strength training that my arms were no longer touching my ears! The little things mean a lot! Thank you so much for the blog. I am loving this theme Love you, Dawn emoticon

I - Imagine What does success look like for you? What size pants or dress will you fit into when you reach your next goal? Keep a picture of success in front of you, and your work will get you there

I DO LOTS OF MINI GOALS - this helps me not to get too depressed when it doesn't move quick enough.

Instead of a picture of success in front of me I keep a picture of failure. I have a picture of me over 300 lbs that I like to look @ to remind me of where I don't want to go back to.

SUCCESS to me looks like a healthy me that doenst out of breath when playing with La. I am raising my granddaughter and I want to see her grow up.

I'm with you. My success is not so much a size or a weight as it is being healthy. Being able to put down my cane. Being able to walk at the beach or the zoo or go to the theme parks with my family AND ride the rides! There is so much that I WANT to be able to do and have not been able to because of what I have done to my body. Self inflicted wounds. Death by spoon. Thanks for a great blog. Love, Dawn emoticon

T - Trust No work is in vain when it comes to weight loss. Even when you're not seeing the results you expected, you have to believe your dedication is changing your life and body. Trust what you're doing will produce the results you envision

This is so true. I have more energy. Others notice more then I do (today ppl who havent seen me since last Thanksgiving were shocked to c how much weight I've lost - I told them wait till next yr). I've also been noticing that even though I hadnt notice a change in a cpl mths then one day I noticed alot of changes after I looked @ a pic.

So trust that your work is not in vain, it jsut takes longer then we want for the results that we want.

Thanks for reminding me of that today emoticon
I needed it.

I haven't been seeing the big results that I want but I have to keep going !!

Dawn: You are so right about the "instant gratification." I used to wish that there was one simple exercise I could do for 5 minutes a day and I would be at my goal weight in 3 weeks.
But now I am enjoying this journey and know that it will be so worth it in the end.

I love this blog. TRUST in self and what we're doing is a very big deal. We've been brought up in the "instant gratification" society and it's hard to accept it when things take their own sweet time. I just remind myself that as long as I am eating the right things, staying in my calorie range, and exercising.. then I am winning! It WILL happen! Thanks for blogging and sharing your journey with us. Love ya, Dawn emoticon

A - Activity Keep moving, and find fun ways to say active. Grab a friend and join a walk/run club or hit the community courts for a pick-up game of basketball. Find the activities that make you smile, and rotate through them

It is so easy to find activities to do. So the object is to just keep moving. Even when I 'm having problems with my legs and back and have to stay off them I do find way to move around.

Also a great investment is a STABILITY BALL u can sit & bounce while watching TV

So like they sing in La's favorite movie: MOVE IT MOVE IT I LIKE TO MOVE IT MOVE IT

They say you should sit on your stability ball while you are sitting at your desk. It's great for your abs.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. Have a great night!

Sometimes it seems so much easier to not "move it," but at the same time there is so much we can do to be moving. I think I mess up sometimes because I take an "all or nothing" apporach but we don't always have to go hard. If you have back/leg problems, do you ever do punches? It's an easy way to get the heart rate up and doesn't require much lower body movement! I enjoy reading your blogs. emoticon

You should try Chair Exercises. They work for me when I can not be in the pool. I can sit and watch tv and march in place, wave my arms around and be getting fit! It works! Love ya, Dawn
