so sad so many

Thursday, June 25, 2009

In the past week, 4 stars have passed away. Gary Papa from channel 6 abc news out of philly; Ed McMahon; Farrah Faccett & Michael Jackson. It's wierd I never met any of these ppl but I mourned each one of their passings. May they all Rest In Peace & may their families carry God n their hearts to help them through these difficult times.

Its weird because I show my age here while I physically feel only about... in my late 20's or early 30's. I grew up seeing these people on the TV as a part of my world and as influential parts of my post baby boom generation X culture.
I had a Charlie's Angels poster as a preteen, I loved staying up for the tonight show and filled out the surveys with my mom for Publishers Clearing House, and I owed the Thriller album and learned the dance in high school.
Knowing these icons are not physically here anymore or adding their unique contributions gives me a sense of loss, heavy enough to feel older than my age and reminds me of my own mortality.
My mother tells me that as we get older, the numbers of those who have influenced us get smaller. I mourn their passing and pray for their peace. But I also chose to stay active, open, and connected in the hopes of new influences, and evolving culture and contributions for continued happiness and spiritual youth.

Summer vs find time for me

Tuesday, June 23, 2009

My summer commitments are just starting & I'm already having problem taking time for me.

I 'm doing it but barely & I'm getting less sleep cause of it. I m going to really have to focus on organizing my schedule to get it all done & in a realistic time setting.

my Commitments r:
1. me (gym - relax time)
2. hubby (being the housewife that I m)
3. my father - I m his caregiver
4. run the STARS summer reading program (4 wks)
5. prepare for VBS the run it for 2wks
6. teen week & then 3 days camping
7. the bridal shower I throwing for my cousin
8. being matron of honor(the million of preps that they need - it is an elaborate civil union ceremony)
9. get ready to baptise my last Godchild
10. house (it still need alot of work to get dad's house in order)
11. take grands for some time
12. spend some time with a cpl of my God children
13. family BBQ's

This is going to b a really long summer, but I refuse to give up my time for taking care of me

girl! you need to take time for you! a lot of this sounds like family time, which is good, but you have a lot of commitments for others... you seem like you are already starting to get a little stressed. HEAVEN KNOW I WOULD BE (WHEW!) is there any way that you can give the "reins" over to someone else for some of the VBS, or teens thing, or cousin's shower? maybe if not, there is someone who you could be a "co-leader" to take over half of the duties of some of these things?

if you are not taking care of you, it is hard to take care of others! take time for you, you are worthy, you are worth it!

Stores are Prejudice

Monday, June 22, 2009

I am sooo depressed. I don't generally shop @ Target, but I received a gift card so I decided to go get the strapless bra that I need for my cousins wedding. Well I'm sure u guessed NO LUCK the store had a total of 5 bras that would fit me & 3 were nursing bras. So I looked @ the some other clothes in the store. Nothin in the ladies department would fit me, their idea of plus size is a joke.
It really is starting to get to me. I'm sorry but I dont like to wear clothes that are snug up my crack n hugging every bulge that I have. If so many americans are obese then why is it soo hard to find clothes that fit properly.

not being able to find nice clothes that fit was definitely a big part of my motivation for losing weight. Keep up the good work and plan for the day that you can have your pick of items at Target!

Oh girl you hit the nail directly on the head with this Blog..
I hate shopping...you never find anything to fit like you said, but then add short to the mixture and you really have problems..
Good luck finding that bra!

I agree Maga, It can be very hard to find clothes that look nice, but fit nice too, I had to laugh when you talked about clothes snug up your crack, as I was talking about that with another sparker tonight, LOL! Good Luck on the shopping.

Day 224

Saturday, June 20, 2009

Well I've now been on sparks for 224 days.
I've lost 32 lbs since I started my new life style 22lbs of this was since becoming active on Spark people.
I have kind of wondered off the path for a while but I've climbed back up the side of the mountain and I m now back on the path. I m once again logging all my food. I m also back to exercising not just once a wk or so I m going to do some type of exercise everyday. Yes there is a difference between doing cardio (cleaning counts under this) and exercising. I need to really exercise everyday.
I've come along way in my weight loss journey yet I still feel like that 303lb person who decided not to get on the scale anymore(Lord only knows how heavy I really got).
When am I going to feel like the woman my hubby sees? when am I going to feel that I have aright to be accepted as I am not ashamed of it

Wow 32 pounds...that is so awesome!
Way to go..
I too can relate..it's like we should hide behind a rock and not come out until we are thin and sexy..that is what our society has done to us..
But you, me and all the others here are Beautiful people and it is those that do not truly accept us, and only look at the outside that are missing out..
One day things will change again, and the volumptious woman will looked at again like they once were!
Together we will do this..one day and one step at a time, and in the mean time lets not worry about what the shallow people think!
Hugs and Love
Patty

Summer Workout

Wednesday, June 17, 2009

During the summer you will find me working out . . .
I still ride my bike to curves and to run errands;
I clean up the yard (which time of year depends on what I'm cleaning).
The one thing that I will add if the weather stops being riduculous is swimming.
I dont walk as much due to the heat bothering my breathing
