INSANITY - doing the same thing over & over & expecting different results.

I truly must be insane.

I keep doing it over & over & over.

I feel good so I do so much then I suffer afterwards Why do I keep doing this to myself. I sit her & m praying this time it will be different. I have been feeling real icky, today was the best I felt in a while. So what do I do - I walk, I ride my bike & do a demolision project

Why do I always push myself

    Hi Maga.....i know the is so easy to get discouraged.... I have been good at exercising (aerobics or riding a stationary bike) 5-6 mornings a problem is food.... I've eaten everything I want, at any time, for almost my whole life....I don't know when that will get easier.... I'm stuck at present weight also.... I'm not motivated enough to change my eating habits.,, I wonder when I will get my act together!!!!

    I understand - I also have a tendency to push myself too hard and then I either end up sick, injured, or burnt out. I think it's because we want to reach our goals SOOOOO badly and so quickly - that we get impatient. Just try to remind yourself, slow and steady. It took a lifetime of habits to get where we are today, we won't change all those habits overnight. Whenever I get tempted to overdo it - I try to remember back to the last time I did that and how I ended up sick and off track for three weeks. No fun. It's good to turn up the intensity a little bit occassionally, just don't overdo it.

Keep with it. One step back, two steps forward! (haha - can you tell I just read the motivational article for this week?!?)

Just be as positive and encouraging to yourself as you are to everyone else!

    I dont know....I think my thing is a monthly female hormonal issue. I lose my motivation as regular as the moon, but only once in a while do I fall off my regular routine...still pretty steadily though. Then when I finally do get it back in gear...I tend to beat the crap out of my muscles and joints with going too far. I think I will have to pay more attention to my motivation and TTOM.

My Next Goals

My goals for the next 3 mths

My main goal is to lose @ least 20 lbs, prayerfully more.

Do Cardio @ least 5 days a week. Cardio will be a mix of walking & aerobics, I will walk - 3 days A week, sometimes more. I will do aerobics -2 days a wk, sometimes more.
I will continue to do strenghtening 3x a wk.

Looking Back

Well tomorrow marks my 3 mths anniversary for sparks. So I decided to take a look back to what worked & what didn't. The amazing this is what worked the best for me was just walking & doing calorie count. When I would do my walk all at one time not doing 10 mins @ a time It was working.

I m going to refocus - my birthday is in 2 weeks & I plan to be under 240 by then. I've been 242 forever or so it seems. So I have 17 days to do this & I WILL.
I m going to continue to take full advantage of this site. Tomorrow I will post my goals for the next 3 mths, then for my 6 mth anniversary I will look back again & so how I m doing. Yea I plan on being here on Sparks fro a long time. Like I say over & over - THIS AINT A DIET IT'S A LIFESTYLE CHANGE.

I did meet most of my goals for the 1st 3 mths, the main one that I didn't meet was my weight loss.

    If it works better for you to walk 30 minutes than to walk 3x for ten...then do what works by all means. Some people do 4 hours of ex 2x a week while others do 30 minutes every day...its an exerperiment of one...YOU.
Happy 3 mo anniversary by the way! In March I will have been here for 3 years.

Flip the Switch

Well I've been reading the book flip the switch.

It is actually starting to make sense to me. You have to eat often to avoid the spikes. So my goal this coming week is gonna be to eat something every 2-3 hrs. Start at breakfast, 2 hrs later eat a fruit or nutrition bar 2 hrs later lunch. Then 2 hrs later eat a veggie or bar then another 2 hrs later then 2 hrs after that eat dinner. Then if my calories allow another small something 2 hrs later. Both lunch & dinner are to be light.

I want to get back to not wanting to be eating half the night - I was doing good before the new year. I've realized that I was munching on celery & radishes @ that time. I do great with the water - I usually go over my 8 glasses a day.

I will continue reading the book & c if I can experiment with anything else. My goal though is only to make one change every week or so that I can c what really works n what doesn't.

I will be posting as to how it goes.

    That's a GREAT book. its not always easy to eat that often....especially when one is employed and stuck at a station where food isn't allowed.

But if you can do it...YES do so. I think you will find a lot of success with this and I'm so happy for you for it.

I also think its a good idea to only implement ONE change a week..not only for reasons as the Experiment of One, but that IS a topper. lol And to make that change not such a drastic one. Most people eat three meals a day, when you add in two snacks, that brings it up to 5. You might want to target 6x a day, depending on your nightly cut off point and how many hours of sleep...I guess that could be q 3 h. (Danna Rosanna Anna) Never mind. emoticon

Nobody knows nothing, but everyone knows everything. emoticon
I've been reading so many articles & books but I m getting more n more confused. Who knows what they are talking about.
One will say eat less other things say if your burning calories eat more.
Eat carbs dont eat carbs.
Eat meat dont eat meat.
Only eat fruits & veggies. Drink over 64 ozs of water a day other say 8- 8ozs a day work
Exercise with weights dont exercise with weights
I m now reading 2 books - Flip the Switch & eat up slim down, prayerfully I will understand something when I m done with them.
In the mean time I m going back to focusing on my walking cause that was working for me when I did it all at one time instead of breaking it up through out the day.

    Everyone is different...some things work for some people and other things work for other carbs, I did a no-carb thing and was not healthy for me medically, works for some..not for me.

I think there are all these different ideas and options is because all of those things worked for somebody, you have to find what works for YOU! Experiment a little, don't get discouraged, you'll find what works for you!
