My New Back on Track Plan

I have fallen off the wagon hard core. I am losing motivation to eat well and exercise. My jeans are getting tighter. I am up about 5 lbs to 166.2 today since early January (161.2) when I was supposed to be LOSING 5 lbs to get back to my comfortable weight range of 155-157.

I did the smart thing and got rid of all my pants that are bigger than size 10. But honestly most of my pants are size 8. And they fit but not well. So what am I going to do? All the things I KNEW I needed to do but have not been doing for the last few months:

-No after dinner snacks (nightcap of SF popsicle and chamomile tea only)
-No cocktails at home
-Eat out 1-2 times per week maximum
-Exercise 4-6 times per week (burn 2500-3200 calories) and start lifting weights at least 2 times per week
-Healthy snacks - set myself up for success
-Eat more fruits and vegetables all the time
-Measure food again - so easy to stop doing this but portion control is everything
-Twice weekly weigh-ins. Monthly measurements. It's easy to stop doing this when things aren't going well?
-Get to the root of the problem: I have been feeling depressed lately, but I don't know why. I will return to journaling and healthy outlets for my emotions. No comforting myself with food, drinks or shopping. That will only leave me back in credit card debt (just got out TODAY) and back to being heavy.

All of these things should help me reach my (same) goal of 154 by May 1. I will keep you posted every week or so. My upcoming vacation + business trip in Vegas will be challenging, but my friends can help me be mostly good. ;)


My Progress After Week #3 of My Back on Track Plan

I realized I haven't updated you in a while on my progress. Last weekend was bad. Unhealthy food for Jamison's birthday and too much drinking at his party on Friday night. Which meant no gym and pizza & sprite on saturday. :(

I got back on track a bit by exercising Sunday and Monday but I went to a BBQ and overindulged in food (like 6 hawaiian rolls with butter and fried chicken) and drink (beer, wine and Taboo for shots) on Sunday.

Monday I was able to get started on the right track with my eating; which means I was HUNGRY. And I've stayed within my calories all week - around 1300ish each day. With no cocktails. And hitting Costco with no churro or pizza.

So far I've burned 1500 calories this week and I'm set to work out today through Monday (assuming I am not too hurt up after my first laser hair removal treatment on Monday at lunchtime.)

And what did I get from all this? I am down 5 lbs from my highest before Phoenix and back in the 150's finally. This means I have a little less than 6 lbs to go to get back to my goal weight and normal BMI (and size 6 suits I haven't worn since May.) I may even do a big push to get down to 150 or so for some "flex" pounds for my friend's 40th birthday trip to Paris in January.

My Progress After Week #1 of Back on Track Plan

I prepped lots of food for the week on Sunday. I ate fairly good last week - with a couple of pizza slip-ups due to a funeral on Thursday and entertaining friends with MORE pizza AND cocktails on Saturday night.

I've been generally staying around 1400 calories and this week will try to stay below 1350 each day (pretty easy when eating clean) except Friday for J's birthday lunch and party.

As you can see - I am down 2.2 lbs since last Tuesday weigh in. I also checked my measurements - which were all up by approx 1 inch (.5 inch on arms) since my last Measurement in March. Note the importance of weighing in and measuring regularly!

My workouts this week: Sun, Mon, Thur, Fri, Sat for a total of 2500ish calories burned. I am hoping for another 2 pounds lost by Saturday.

The Plan to Weigh 154 by September 23

I cannot exactly say I didn't see this coming, but I am still disappointed that I weighed in this am THREE pounds more than my last weigh-in. So now, I am not 7ish pounds off my goal but nearly 10. So here is my plan. I promise to keep you updated on my progress toward my goal.

Wk. 8/15: Exercise 4-5 times, don't go overboard on sketchy food or cocktails while traveling (8/16 weighed in at 163.6, take measurements tonight to see how far they've increased since last measurement in MARCH!)

Wk. 8/22: Exercise 5 times, eat clean, no cocktails, twice weekly weigh-ins, no post dinner snacks

Wk. 8/29: Exercise 5-6 times, mostly eat clean, cocktails only at Jory bday dinner and Jamison bday dinner, twice weekly weigh-ins, no post dinner snacks

Wk 9/5: Exercise 5-6 times, eat clean, 2 glasses wine on Labor Day, twice weekly weigh-ins, no post dinner snacks

Wk. 9/12: Exercise 5 times, twice weekly weigh-ins, SparkPeople calorie tracking to mid-range (around 1350 calories per day), no post dinner snacks

Wk. 9/19: Exercise 5 times, twice weekly weigh-ins, SparkPeople calorie tracking to mid-range (around 1350 calories per day), no post dinner snacks

September 23: Weigh in at 154 and wear my size 6 jeans I haven't even tried since shortly after I bought them on my birthday May 3. If I could make it through my dad's untimely death and funeral and weigh in around 156-157, just "maintaining" is no excuse for letting the weight creep in.

September 24 and beyond: 3-5 workouts weekly, continue tracking food, re-institute rules on cocktails (not allowed at home but permitted for dinner out, happy hours, friends' houses, etc.), no food after dinner - chamomile tea only


My Plan Until August 18 - Drop 4

So, I didn't do the greatest on my vacation in Omaha. I gained two pounds, which I lost this week. Now I have two weeks to lose 5 pounds, which isn't really possible. So I have shifted my goal to lose 4 pounds - that would be 157.5 - by August 18.

This week, I am working out every day (on Day 4) and focused on staying in my calorie range. I will also work out next weekend Friday through Tuesday, and stay within my calorie range.

Life gets tricky with a crazy busy project at work AND business travel August 17-18 (hoping to sneak in a workout) and a girls' weekend August 19-21. But I am feeling ready for the challenge.

I want you guys to know the plan and I plan to weigh in every 4 days until then. I am not sure how I'll weigh in on the road, and I doubt my friend has scale but I will reach my goal. With your help, of course! Thanks for all the support.

    Don't beat yourself up about gaining weight on vacation. Life's pleasures include a little splurge now and then! You've got a plan for getting back to "the real world." Sounds like you're on the right track to me! Best wishes!
