First run of 2013... Midnight of New Years!!!!

So my first race of 2013 was at midnight, right after the ball dropped. A little crazy, yes...a little cold, yes..but a lot of fun. I ran with my friend who is thinking of running a half marathon this year. She's a slower runner than me, so I kept pace with her and tried my best to motivate her throughout the race. It was only a 5k, but a good accomplishment for her and a good one for me that I tried my best to keep her motivated and we ran the whole race. Jeers to the people who cut through the course without actually finishing it...we may not have finished first, but we ran the whole thing and didn't give up:)... My new mantra for 2013...don't give up!!!

Joining the biggest loser at work

Sp I've decided to join the biggest loser at work..maybe it will help give me the kick in the pants that I need t get motivated...I'm hoping it's not team based again...that failed miserably the first go around, but now more individualalized....oh well, here goes nothing....

Trying to get back on the horse...

Ok...trying to get back into the spark way of life...after the half marathon, I lost my mojo for running, joints ached and my mind wasn't there...now that I'm a few weeks shy of my 33rd birthday, I want to get back on the horse..trying to run a few miles a week and keep up with exercise and diet...here's hoping for the best!!!

    I know what you mean. I did my first half marathon this spring and the weather was so hot and humid that I sort of tossed my running goals out the window for this year' Now that the weather is finally getting cooler I am finally getting back into my training.

    It happens to all of us...you aren't alone in loosing your mojo. Just take it slow and ease yourself back into it. Also, if you try a different route or time of day to mix things up a bit it also helps!

    I think that happens to all runner every know and again. And, from what I understand, it is particularly common after a long distance race. You have so much focus and so much motivation while training, and it is hard to hold on to that when you meet your goal.

Running is like an old friend. It's always there for you when you are ready to come back to it. Glad to hear that you're starting up again. Perhaps you could incorporate something else into your routine until you get your running mojo back...

So today was my first half marathon.... Wasn't planning on running the whole damn thing, but as luck had it, I did...my legs are a bit sore now, but other than that..it was actually a nice run....finished in under 3 hours and my legs only started t hurt around mile 12.5... It was nice that a girl who finished with me thanked me for being her pace person...who knew???? For all who want to try a half marathon, remember to train for it the right way...so many people were unprepared!!!!

    You can do I!!! Just start slow... I have a bad ankle which caused some knee and hip issues....I'm probably not going to run ths far again!!!

    Thats great!!! My sister in law ran her first today also! So plan is hopefully i can get my weight down enough to feel comfortable to run and hopefully by next yr we wanna run one together. But i know for me i gotta lose more weight and build up my muscles in my bad leg (bad car accident) to be able to even run... right now I cant even barely run across the street its horrible!
