I went to the gym after work last Wednesday and saw a class that was going on. It was called Zumba and it looked like a lot of fun. I checked the schedule and it is every Monday and Wednesday at 5:30. I'm able to get to the gym before 5 so I figured that I would give it at try.

I went to the gym yesterday, got there around 4:45. I got all changed and decided to warm up a bit so that I didn't go into my first arobics style class (after 5 years) cold. I rode a bike for about 15mins just to loosen up and then stretched for another 15. By that time, it was about time for the class to start.

So I went to the class. It was an hour of dancing and sweating and having a blast. It is like a cross between arobics, hiphop and salsa. It was so much fun!! I actually made it the whole hour without any problems even though I haven't done cardio like that in ages.

The teacher told me after the class that I had done a great job and that she really wanted to see me there every class. I'm really looking forward to Wednesday now!!

    That is great! I love finding different ways to exercise. Zumba is a great way to have fun while getting in a great exercise!

I finally made it...

I actually made it to the gym! This is the first time this year that I actually went. I spent 1.5 hours there last night. I did almost an hour of cardio and half that on machines. It felt so great! I have my gym bag with me and will go do more cardio after work. As long as I go right after I get done with work, I believe that I can keep this up.

The beach anyone?

So I spend 4 days in San Diego, in which about half of that was spent on the beach. I wore the bikini that my hubby bought me at Xmas time. I'm so happy. I didn't feel uncomfortable in it at all. When I had tried it on previously, I couldn't stand the way I looked in it. I actually felt good about myself and the way I looked. It was such a wonderful feeling.

It has helped to motivate me even more. Eddie and I have agreed to start hiking again this weekend. We have been biking once a week and will probably up that to twice a week starting next month. I bought a lock so that I can go to the gym before work. I am so glad that things are finally getting back on track!!

    That is major. I have about 10lbs more before I feel comfortable wearing my black bikini. I hope I can get that before summer is done.

So I haven't been on this site in months. I have been fairly lazy. I've stuck with my healthy eating so I haven't gained anymore weight. I haven't lost anymore either. I had to stop riding my bike to and from work because the doc put me on medication which I couldn't be out in the sun while I was on it. The problem is that I live in the desert and there is no way to avoid the sun while outside. So no bike riding for awhile. By the time I was off the meds, it was in the 100s outside so too hot for riding. After that I had a bad lower back injury and was unable to do much of anything for quite some time. My back is just now starting to feel better. The doc thought it was a herniated disk but I got lucky and it wasn't.

My vacation that I was hoping to lose all the weight for is this week. I am a little bummed out that I didn't reach my goal weight but I'm not down on myself about it. It is very obvious that I did lose some weight. In fact, I lost 16 of the 30 pounds that I had gained so that isn't too bad. That is more than 50%. I can be happy with that for now. I will keep working towards my goal of losing the rest of the weight. It will happen!!!

And congrats on recognizing that you did not meet your initial goal but not letting it become a setback. 50% is a really good number! And the best part: now you know that you can maintain! Fantastic!

    It sounds like after a hard couple of months you are ready to get back. Welcome back. I know that you will loose the last 14 pounds you have to loose.

Bike ride anyone??

Holy crap!! I actually had motivation today. I rode my bike to work today! It is the first time that I have done this. It took me about 40 minutes. Once I get in better shape, I can easily see it taking me no more than half an hour. So I will have put in almost an hour and a half of cardio today after I ride back home.

People keep looking at my bike funny when they walk in the office. I have it sitting outside my door. It is just so darned cute. It is a pink beach cruiser with a basket and it has a skull and crossbones on it. I love my bike!! My hubby bought it for me for Xmas.
