I have just completed my first 5K and it was awesome! It was SO much fun! I can't even fully describe the experience. It is so empowering to have been able to go from barely walking a mile without limping, to finishing a 5K in 36 minutes. I now feel as though all of my dreams are possible and I'm going to go for it!

I haven't been feeling very well this week. I'm still getting out and walking/jogging, but not for as many days as usual. I've only been out twice this week, and the weather has been sort of crummy. I'm hoping to be able to go out tomorrow (decent weather permitting) and lower my time.

I'm in the road block zone. I've been at 131-130 before and can't seem to leave it. The last time I was here for about 6 or 7 years. UGH! I know that some may be thinking "what is she complaining about, 130 is great!" But, I do not feel my healthiest, or my best at this spot. I remember what it felt like to be 120-125 and it feels a world different. So, right now I'm trying not to stress and have made a commitment to only step on the scale once a week. That's a fete in itself. I will feel like there is a light at the end of the tunnel once I make it to 129, but whoa, even getting there won't be easy.

Thank you everyone for all the motivation you have given. It is greatly appreciated. Yesterday evening I was able to improve my time to a pace of 13 minutes. Now, I'm feeling a lot more confident about beginning to ease into jogging. The words of encouragement that I've received have meant a lot to me, seriously. Thank you so much!

Today I took the kids to the library. The older girls needed to work on some school projects, and the little ones needed to practice timed testing. I left the hubby there to do the timing, while I headed out into the lovely neighborhood behind the library for my walk. I didn't want to go to far, so, thankfully my Runkeeper app kept me on task (and from getting lost). I did 1.77 miles in 26 minutes (15 minute pace). I was proud of my little speed walk, and improvement in decreased time. When sharing this news with my hubby, he smiled and told me that I'm definitely ready to start running. I was shocked! I told him no way, I'm not ready! He should at least give me until next week, before I start adding in a jog to my routine. I shouldn't be as chicken by then.

    I agree that you are ready to start running. The couch to 5k is a great program to use. You don't have to run far when you start out, just throw in a bit of jogging while you are walking. YOU CAN DO IT!

    As a runner myself, you ARE ready to do a little jogging. I started out doing a run/walk. I would try to run to a landmark, then walk.
I like the Gallaway method and use it in some of my workouts.
I also like Motiontraxx on I-Tunes as motivation. It is a free download and has great workouts and music.
