Whoduhthunk...

Sunday, July 12, 2009

Whoduhthunk that I could actually do this.

If it wasn't for SparkPeople, I WOULDN'T be doing this.

And the 'this' is not only losing weight, but feeling/being in control.

I have just said a firm 'no' to my DH who just called upstairs....
"Honey, Cappuccino Chocolate or Vanilla?"
I called back and said "Neither!"
He says "How come?"
I says in return " Because I have reached my calorie limit today!"
(Smiling inside to myself at the strength, confidence and wonderfulness I felt saying that.)

I then hear a faint "OK....."

He and my GS went a bought frozen yogurt to have while watching a movie last night and having a cider together. I had a bowl last night, but I figured it into my calories for yesterday.

(Good girl, Lyn.....patting myself on the back!!! emoticon)

So now after posting this blog, I feel so great about myself I am going for a walk.

I hope all you folks out there continue to hold the reins of your own wagon as we go careening down the trail together.

See ya' soon........

Lyn.

Way to Go, Lyn! That's the spirit. You are an example to us all.

Keep up the good work, and pat yourself each time you win the battle. Success is yours to rejoice in. And brag about it. That is the reward for being consistent.

Hugs,
Jean

    Good for you, Lyn!

I tend to hide my accomplishments under a bushel. So you've taught me something here. There's no shame in patting yourself on a well-deserved back. I have to learn to relish in my accomplishments instead of just accepting them at par.

Nice to know you are back on track going full blast ahead!!!

What an inspiration! I have been fighting a Tin Roof Blizzard from DQ all week and so far I've won! I should be OK for the next two days as I'm heading of to the cottage with a girlfriend and she is a really healthy eater. Never any junk food found at her place. Oh well.... Maybe I'll have to plan one into my daily calories as a treat one of these fine days!

Lyn, I have felt the same way you do some days--but today was not one of them. Thursday is my b'day and I'm going away on vacation so my Bolin children had a dinner for me with cake. I stayed within my limits but did not make choices I'm proud of but you can be proud of yours. Good luck. Nice to have you on our team.

Wow. That was actually very motivational. I tend to get caught up in my emotions and forget all of the good things about myself.

The Tree

The Tree

I hired a plumber to help me restore an old farmhouse, and after he had just finished a rough first day on the job: a flat tire made him lose an hour of work, his electric drill quit and his ancient one ton truck refused to start.

While I drove him home, he sat in stony silence. On arriving, he invited me in to meet his family. As we walked toward the front door, he paused briefly at a small tree, touching the tips of the branches with both hands.

When opening the door he underwent an amazing transformation. His face was wreathed in smiles and he hugged his two small children and gave his wife a kiss.

Afterward he walked me to the car. We passed the tree and my curiosity got the better of me. I asked him about what I had seen him do earlier.

'Oh, that's my trouble tree,' he replied 'I know I can't help having troubles on the job, but one thing is for sure, those troubles don't belong in the house with my wife and the children. So I just hang them up on the tree every night when I come home and ask God to take care of them. Then in the morning I pick them up again. Funny thing is, he smiled, when I come out in the morning to pick them up, there aren't nearly as many as I remember hanging up the night before.'

We all need a Tree! emoticon

    I think that is awesome......

When my dad was still living he was my trouble tree....Everynight after work I would chat with him. I live in IL and my parents were living in AZ. So after work I would vent my day, all the GOOD, the BAD AND the UGLY and not matter what in my 40 min. drive home I wasnt crabby by the time I got home........ He hears me now via the ANGEL hot line...dad lost a battle to cancer but it still vent to him ...... Now I just yell out the sunroof.....and there are days I know he and I are still close.....
the tree is a sweet treasure ........

Sunny and hot!

Saturday, July 04, 2009

The weather here is stifling. It is 96F in our yard now and I am not a hot weather person.
Am trying to eat, but is hard. Am drinking lots though.

Have any suggestions as to what food is nutritionally best for hot weather?

Otherwise, life has been great these past few days.

Feeling good about myself, just wish the mirror showed more sympathy, but I know it will soon.

Hope you all are having a great weekend.

    Hello Lyn,
Our Son spent 5 mos last year in Phoenix and loved the heat. I would struggle even getting normal housework done. His daughter is there studying medicine and he is trying to talk his wife into moving there! It won't happen.

I like the advice you received earlier and I am told that melons; especially water melon, is good for keeping you hydrated. I know what you mean about the mirror! emoticon emoticon

Well now I know why I haven't heard from my niece - they go up to Sechelt usually when the weather is nice. Enjoy it while you can, Lyn.

Just drink a lot of smoothies and water and eat cool salads. Good way to lose wt. too!
Glad you are feeling better about yourself. I think I just blew it on a chinese dinner. Didn't eat my usual huge helping but know I went over the limit just the same.

Have a great weekend!

Hot, happy and content.....

Friday, July 03, 2009

The weather is something else......38* C. (100*F) in my yard.

But am one happy camper. Our 27 yr. old grandson who has lost about 140 lbs in the last 3 years all on his own.....is downstairs making a healthy dinner for us. I think we are having BBQ'd salmon, and I saw a plethora of colourful veggies cut up on the counter. emoticon

He has been sharing some of the knowledge he has learned these past few years with us about nutrition, etc. Has been a fun and happy day.

Today, life is good, I am happy and what else can I say.....just had to share with you folks! emoticon

Have a safe and happy weekend.....

Lyn. emoticon
