Such a cold day...

I've been wondering why I've been feeling so much colder than ususal....even tho' the temp is lower that normal for this neck of the woods.
Just checked my food journal and I've been too low on protein the past few days.
That's probably why.
Tomorrow, I need to be more specific with my nutrition.

Had to go outside and prune a bush for my DH this afternoon...it was blocking the window to his workshop and he was putting in a new screen. Since I'm the gardener in the family he was reluctant to do it.
So I did it. I nearly froze, it was minus 6 Celcius.
Boy, did my fireplace feel good when I got back in the house.

Hello weekend...here I come...wheeeeeeeeeeeeee

It's in the 40's here today Lyn, what weather for Winter, eh? Pretty balmy! It probably was lack of protein that kept your body feeling colder than it should be. Interesting timing to be replacing a screen!!! Sorry you were so cold. It is, indeed, lovely to come in from the cold and have good warm fire to stand in front of to warm up. I'm the gardener in my family too so I get what you are saying. Difference is we are in the heart of summer so I come into a cool house. I have a very old house with double walls and very high ceilings. Means its super cool in hot summer but tends to be cold in winter, the flip side of the coin is Im not a cold person and we dont get snow with minus temperatures, so i cope in my winter cold house. Added thought...pizza doesn't have to be deadly to the diet....you can load it with veggies and LEAN meats (not sausage and pepperoni!). Tomato sauce is healthy for you...just go easy on the cheeses. Don't gorge and you can have a relatively healthy choice. Have a big salad with it to help fill you so you don't FILL on pizza. You shouldn't feel like you CAN'T eat things...you just learn to do it carefully, thoughtfully and in reasonable amts. Report Inappropriate Comment

I Love pizza! And last Saturday I went nuts! I had just started tracking my Sodium intake daily to keep it under 2300mg and that day I wound up with over 6600mg! Calorie wise pizza will run anywhere from 200-600 a piece many of those you can double the sodium mg's. Since I have started monitoring the sodium I average 1600 mg a day and have lost 8 pounds in 8 days. Sodium makes water stick to you like glue. BTW having Pizza for dinner tonight, I MUST behave myself! Here's my motto: The only way to succeed at anything, is to take 1 step at a time and be happy with it! ...is what I am endeavouring to do today.
First....yesterday was a decent day here in the valley.
It got up to 5*C and raining...but OK to go out and walk.
As I type..the snow is coming down very heavy...so no driving
and obviously no walking for me.
But it does look so beautiful out there.
I bundled up and went out to fill my big bird feeder which
was emtpy. The little birds have deserted my yard temporarily, but
they'll be back before the afternoon is over.

So where does being adaptable and flexible come in to all
my babbling on.
Well, first, we were going to drive down to Nanaimo (one hour on the highway)
tomorrow to go for lunch with our youngest daughter and SIL. That's been put on hold....and then when I go into the kitchen, my DH is eating the leftovers I had planned for dinner. So plans are flying out the window.

My first reactions to both were negative. But on looking out the window, and seeing the beauty out there...white, clean, quiet....I told myself to smarten up and deal with it.

So where did I come to do that.....you guessed it.....SPARKPEOPLE!!!

Good job on making the adjustments...had to laugh over the disrupted dinner plans...I have that happen at my house quite often...and it was much worse when all the kids (with teenage appetites) were still living at home. It has been just that.
However, SP has kept me focused today, my nutrition, vitamins and fitness journals all completed.
A good long walk and lots of heavy housework have tired me a little more than I was expecting....so I'm going to watch the Biggest Loser and unwind.
