I am making a plan!!!Tuesday, February 12, 2013I want to thank all of you that sent such encouraging messages..it really meant the world to me. I go to Planet Fitness on Tuesday to have them show me the list of class times where they will show you how to do certain things. My sparkpeople dvd's came today in the mail and I dug out my leslie sansone walking dvd's so if I don't feel like leaving the house I have no excuse to not getting my butt off the couch. I also called today and switched to a different doctor, she is a woman in family medicine. I can't get into seeing her until March 28 but I have already made a list of things I want to discuss with her. I started going thru my pantry and getting it organized so I can find stuff. Also looking at different web sites to figure out what should be in the pantry all the time to put a meal together instead of eating fast food when I don't feel like cooking. I did some shopping this weekend and found a bike I am thinking about getting for this spring, I used to go biking a lot and with us raising our soon to be 13 granddaughter we could go biking together. I know it felt good to get out of the house for a bit. I take my 82 year old mother shopping once a week since she got rid of her car. She uses a rolling walker and walks very slow. I am afraid of ending up like her. I was always so independant before I retired. Well..enough of this I am going to put a dvd in and see what I can do. Thank you again so much!!!!! ![]()

You've touched on all the key points toward success: exercise food choices health team support planning and goal setting emotional committment Awsome!!! I started exploring outside exercise on a bike, too. My DH was so patient with me in the begining, when I could only ride a flat 3 mile loop. We kept at it and now I really enjoy our weekly bike rides. Life is for living, not sitting on the couch being afraid (like I used to be). Have fun with your DVD. Report Inappropriate Comment |

My depression has reared his ugly head again. I am on 2 different meds and I am thinking it is time to go and see the doctor. I would like to change doctors, I have seen this one for almost 30 years and he isn't one to call you out on things. I would like to go to a doctor who puts you on the spot. It's funny because when we first started with Hap the doctor I was given was like the one I think I need now. I changed because he told me I was overweight and needed to lose weight. I have a lot of medical issues..high blood pressure for over 30 years, overweight and now very obese for over 30 years, osteoarthritis, osteoporisis, depression for over 4 years, MS diagnosed 15 years ago, type 2 diabetes diagnosed 3 years ago, I have had my shoulder and knee replaced because of severe arthritis and need to have the other knee done. I stay in my house and sit most of the day, even though I pay for planet fitness every month. I eat even when I am not hungry. I am just a mess. I have been married for over 37 years but we should of divorced years ago, many years ago. We are 2 people living in one house. My hubby always makes fun of my weight telling me he knows I weigh over 300 pounds. I weigh 233. He drank up until right before he retried which is only 10 years ago and just gets nastier as days go by. He only quit drinking because his doctor told him he would never see social security or his pension if he kept drinking, he has type 2 diabetes too. I have no money of my own and I am just too old to even think about a divorce but I need to get better for me. I am sorry for going on and on about me.

Luann, I am so sorry you are having so many problems. I have a sister who suffers great depression, many health issues and a bad marriage so I understand what you are going thru. I would also agree that you need to change docs and mabe get your meds changed. Contacting your fitness center and getting a personal trainer is also a great idea. I know that getting out of your house, even just a little while will be a great help; but I also know that it is sometimes impossible. The fact that you finally posted indicates that you WANT to do something to change things now. Take care of yourself and I will be praying too.....God is your source of strength. My sister just started with a Christian counselor and it is helping her alot. This is the best she has been in several years. Report Inappropriate Comment |

I am so sorry to read about the many issues you are facing right now. I agree that it is time to do things for YOU. Look into seeing a new Dr. Make an appointment with a trainer at Planet Fitness and see what they can do to help. As for your marraige, the only thing that I can think of is to pray. Pray for your husband and for yourself. Lift the situation up to God and ask for Him to change both of your hearts. I don't mean to sound trite, but only with God's healing can you find peace. I'll be adding my prayers.

I am so sorry about your depression- I think different medications can become less effective over time and you need to change. I was on one that worked fine but my depression broke through. The psychiatrist I went to tinkered with things for a while until he found the combo I am on now. I don't know how money is for you- mine is tight but maybe if you called planet fitness they could hook you up with an exercise buddy you could go with. It would get you out of the house which is good and might make it easier to follow through. I know I hated to acknowledge it when I was being a coach potato but you do feel so much better when you exercise- I am just doing 15 or 20 min on exercise bike and I can't believe how much better I feel. As for your husband I know how negative they can be- mine is most of the time too- I find I have to make a life for myself separate from him with friends who care for me and value me. the fact that you have gone through all these health challenges means you are a survivor and you are still wanting to try to get better- you are very brave. You deserve to be happy too. You should call that health club and see if you can reserve time with a personal trainer. That will get your butt in gear having an appointment. I think you would benefit by friending one of my Spark friends named "Determined Me" She's on my friends list. She is in a happy marriage, but she will inspire you to work out with all her fitness. You need to get moving to fight back all those disabilities that you listed. I do Wii Fit Plus and it's pretty motivating and fun even though I don't think it is all that rigorous, at least the way I do it is not too hard. I just congratulate myself for not being a total couch potato which I was up until last summer. I'm glad you friended me. I'm glad you felt comfortable enough with the Spark world to post such a candid blog. I hope you find comfort in your life. Report Inappropriate Comment |

I pray your days become brighter in every way. You are a special woman who deserves to take the very best care of herself in every area. It does sound like a different doctor could be helpful. Hugs and blessings!

Sounds like you have many stressors... I'll be praying for your situation, and hope that even one of them gets turned around to encourage you. My best Dr. was one that didn't cut me any slack, too! :) Hang in there...
