new adventures

Wednesday, May 15, 2013

so i wrote on my status update: waiting for the weekend.

why cant i just be excited for everyday? everyday should be an adventure. i know, i know. when you get into that rut of working and making dinner and cleaning, and working and cleaning, and working and cleaning.

i need to chill out and get excited about life. get excited about the nice weather we are having. get motivated to walk different places. maybe get a bike.

the one problem i have is my husband will not bike with me. he doesnt even like to go different places and walk. he says its boring. i am gonna have to go myself since he wont go with me. thats ok. i can make it an adventure by myself.

so, i am starting fresh and am gonna find things to excite me and keep life interesting.

lets share some ideas to keep fitness interesting!!!

    Linda,
I usually walk alone or with my dog. I'm a slow walker and need to stop frequently. I sometimes walk with SPHAPPYHIKER (she lives in Wadsworth) and she's usually a fast walker - but we work it out. I rest, she goes on and then backtracks (added steps) and then we walk and talk a while. Do we live to far apart to meet and walk every once in a while. I know there's a nice park in Green.

You can do it. My husband and I used to be very active together, but he has been feeling so bad for so long and is currently undergoing cancer treatment among other things so I've had to adjust to biking, walking, etc. alone. Once I made the decision to not give up I have come to enjoy the outings although I will relish the time when he can go with me. I hope you come to that time too and maybe your hubby will change his feelings too.

Don't feel bad and don't let this get between you two either! My dh doesn't like to exercise with me, but we share so much more. He does cheer me on when I've had lots of cardio minutes in a day or do real well at a new ST exercise. So that's encouraging! Maybe he can be your cheerleader!!! emoticon

This is my journey,i try to have the mentality to do it alone,i once depended on my hubby, most of the times he is tired . . . i have learned to do my work outs with or without anybody and i have moved forward.

I always look for new challenges to KEEP me in the healthy lifestyle I'm now accustomed to!

I'll always have a formal 5K or any "competition" to train for. I'm focused on Triathlon training at the moment. I'm biking, swimming, and running which equates to overall fitness!

Strength training is vital to any activity.

FUELING is most important. I burn clean fuel. I choose my food for it's energy levels and healthy content. I'm not going to do well with a box of donuts. If I'm dragging, I know I ate something bad for me! It also means all the energy I exerted was for naught!

Good attitude as sometimes, we have to go it alone as it is an individual journey. You may want to find the things that brought you together and get him out more, if you'd like for him to join you. Don't let it stop you as you are more than a conqueror! I believe in YOU! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

wow!! where did all that energy come from?????

Saturday, May 11, 2013

where in the world did i get all the energy for todays workout?

i did a 30 min workout every day this week. but today, i figured i was off so i would up the workout some. i did my c25k week 3 plus i did jillian michaels day 6. plus to make it an even 60 min workout, i got back on my treadmill for 10 min and took my dog for a walk.

i do believe that i am feeling stronger mentally and physically. as i told you in the past, i joined the ymca again. i used to go all the time but since joining, i havent gone that much. spark people teaches you to take baby steps. that is what i am going to do.

i feel like i am starting my workouts up slowly and that is building my confidence. instead of going to the ymca and taking spinning classes and doing hard things, i am going to start zumba up again. it is not super hard and it is fun.

finally, this is all starting to click for me and coming together

A&I challenge- mother day 2013

Friday, May 10, 2013

emoticon

mother day 2013-- i am blessed to still have my mom at 76 years young. i cherish each day and call her every day and visit as much as possible cause i never know when God will call her home.

i addition to that, i am blessed to be the mother of an awesome 23 year old son and a 6 yr old shih tzu.

i am planning on surprising my mom at church on mothers day. after that, i will go down and take her the hydranga plant i am planning on buying her. then my husband, son and my sister and her family and my mom will go to carrolton to ponderosa to eat. it is one of her favorite places to eat. its a bit of a drive, but i will do anything for my mom/

i love her

My mom loves Ponderosa too! Did you know there's one in Alliance?
I take mom and a friend of hers there about once a month.
Enjoy this special day with your mom and loved ones.

Great plans for Mother's Day. Your mom is lucky to have such a considerate loving daughter. Our children all live away so I will be content with cards and phone calls. I did get to go to dinner when we took my MIL for an early Mother's Day dinner. I lost my mom 4 years ago at age 95 and I miss her every day.

reflections

Thursday, May 09, 2013

i have been wanting to start my running back up. i keep putting it off for some reason. i love to walk. i walk my dog every day. but it just isnt giving me the burn i need.

i started my c25k back up today. i had been trying to start where i left off , which is week 7. it just isnt working. so i decided to start at week 3. 3 min walking, 3 min jogging. as i was puttering along, i started thinking of a few years ago. i had completed the c25k. i was actually jogging a 5 k 2 or 3 times a week. not really fast. i think i got up to a 16 min mile. but i remember jogging around the track and several people would stop me and ask me how i got started in jogging. they were admiring me. what an awesome feeling that was.

so why did i quit? i have no idea except that life gets in the way and you have to be really determined to keep that momentum going .

i need to keep thinking along these lines and remember how i felt before when i completed it. i struggled today, but i know it will get easier. i just have to eat right, think right, and stay positive.

have a great spark day!!
