Starting over, yet again

Tuesday, February 03, 2009

Another year, another weightloss challenge. Why do I fluctuate right around the same weight year after year? Why do I start losing, only to taper off and eventually gain again? Will this be the year that I lose it - ALL of it - once and for all??

1/7/2008 - Starting over again

Monday, January 07, 2008

Ok - this is me, starting over yet again. I haven't made much progress since last year. In fact, I had to up my starting weight by 6 pounds. UGH! 5 of that was holiday weight gain, and the rest + was weight gained back when I stopped being consistent with my plan. But I'm back WITH A VENGENCE!!! I joined a 12 week challenge with some of my friends here, and an 8 week challenge with Arbonne Figure 8, so there are some prizes on the line, and I am MOTIVATED! Help me stay that way!!

A measuring tape is a great tool!

Thursday, April 05, 2007

After last weeks loss, the scale seemed to be STUCK! VERY FRUSTRATING when I've added in cardio and expected to see it drop at least a pound or two. Thankfully, I pulled out my measuring tape last week - should have done it sooner - and measured myself. I decided to measure again today, and I've ALREADY lost 1 1/4" off my waist and 1" off my hips!!

WOOOOHOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

I'm building muscle, and muscle is heavier than fat.

The scale is moving in the right direction!!

Thursday, March 29, 2007

Wooohooooo!!

The scale is back down today after my momentarily climb over the weekend. 151 - maybe even 150.5. It's hard to discern half-pounds on my scale (it's not digital).

Now, to not let it climb again this weekend so I'm not forever stuck in this loop.

Way to go Amy!! I know that weekends are deadly for me. If I can just hold steady through the weekend, then I know I'm going to have a pretty good week.

Good for you Amy! Sometimes I get frustrated because it seems like I'm stuck or going in the wrong direction, but I use an Excel spreadsheet to chart my daily weights and if I look at the overall picture there is a downward trend over time. For example, my daily weights are something like this:
197
197.5
198
196
1
96.5
197
195
195.5

196
194
194.5
195

So while MOST days I see an increase, overall, it's going down. I know I started at 212 and now I'm down to 196, so... whatever I am doing seems to be working!

A beautiful day for my 1st run!

Tuesday, March 27, 2007

Today was my planned day to start running. The weather was absolutely PERFECT for it! 71 degrees, sunny, with a nice breeze blowing. Gorgeous!

I started off with a brisk walk, and then jogged a short distance. I walked again when I felt like I needed to stop jogging, and picked up the pace again when I felt recovered. I did that about 8 times, for a total of 1.87 miles in 27 minutes. That calculated to a 14.26 min/mile and 4.16 mph average pace. (I LOVE www.mapmyrun.com!) Not bad for a first run!

I will run again on Thursday.
