On January 1, 2010 I made a serious decision to lose weight. My health was going downhill slowly and I was finding myself in a depression. My family encouraged me to become active and to control food portions. So I began to ride my bike every weekend, weather permitting. As long as it wasn't raining or snowing, I was riding. Weekdays after work were for indoor stationary bike or ellyptical work-outs because of the short daylight hours here in New York during the winter. But as soon as Springtime rolled around, I headed outdoors every day that it wasn't raining. Even though I was not paying attention to my food intake, I began to lose the weight and dropped about 30 pounds. But by May I plateaued and became very frustrated. I was afraid of gaining the weight that I lost. And then it started, first one pound, then two, then three.
On June 20, 2010 I found SparkPeople.com while on Facebook. I clicked on the icon and the rest is history. Today, a year later, I am 1 pound away from my goal weight. I had hoped to have reached it today on my 1st year anniversary, but it did not happen. And that's ok because I have accomplished so much during this past year. My improved health is testimony to that. I am no longer obese and all my vitals are in normal range! I could not have done this without the support, advice, and friendship of everyone who is part of SparkPeople.com. And for this I am so grateful!
I have much more to share but will put it all in my success story. I just wanted to tell everyone what a wonderful journey this is to better health. I am stronger, wiser and alot healthier!
