New day, new me...

Monday, August 23, 2010

Here it is, the start of a new week. With rain in the forecast for the next couple of days, the location of exercise plans have to change to that of indoors. So, today after work I hit the gym and used the stationary bike for a while. Although I do not get as "pumped up" emotionally as I do when I ride outdoors on trails, I concentrated on the positive effects the exercise was having on my heart. Before I joined SparkPeople.com, I generally would have skipped a cardio work-out if inclement weather would prevent me from doing it outdoors. Well, it's a new day and it's a new me!

Patience and determination....

Sunday, August 15, 2010

What an exciting day it is to learn (or re-learn) something new. My newly developed good habits with nutrition and exercise has resulted in a fantastic "weigh-in" morning! Sparkpeople.com is a classroom for me and I am the student, eager to learn and implement what I have learned. I am truly beginning to understand the benefits of planning my meals and exercise activities before the week begins. Tonight I cooked up a storm with so many new vegetable dishes using some of the recipes from this site. I am fortunate to have farms nearby to buy fresh fruits and vegetables. By cooking a variety of dishes for the week, I can spend my time after work heading off to a nearby rail trail for a bike ride without hurrying back to cook dinner. It took me a while to reorganize my "old routine" and toss out bad habits but with patience and determination, I can honestly say how great it is to see my health improve.

I'm so intimidated by cooking meals for a week...I'm glad you got that down!

Tonight is braised red cabbage, grilled chicken breast, ear of corn. Lots of fresh veggie dishes throughout the week, some with tofu, chicken or lean pork; others meatless.

No change...

Sunday, July 25, 2010

Here it is, "weigh-in day". I must say I was a little disappointed when the scale did not go down in numbers. I worked so hard throughout the week, not overeating in any category and keeping on schedule with my exercises. Oh well, I guess I am thankful the weight did not increase. When the rainy skies finally disappeared late this afternoon, I hopped on my bike and completed 12 miles on one of my favorite trails. With my day coming to a close, there is no change in my positive attitude.

I like your attitude. Way to go with the bike ride. Keep on doing what you know you need to do, and the weight will come off.

I am a stair step weight loser. Steady steady, drop a pound or two, gain back a half pound, drop....so it takes patience.

You can do this. It is so worth it.

Hang in there.

One eye on the trail, one eye on the sites....

Saturday, July 24, 2010

This morning was beastly hot for a ride but I was determined to complete one extra cardio workout this week. Part of the trail is shaded by trees. But the views on both sides can be very interesting and sometimes takes your breath away with the wonders of nature. So I as I tried to keep a steady pace of 12mph, I kept one eye on the trail, one eye on the sites.

Good for you to throw the distraction of being too hot aside and getting in that extra complete cardio workout this week!

H-H-H days of summer...

Saturday, July 17, 2010

Here it is another hot day with temps in the 90s. I'm completing week 4 and I feel so good about myself. In the past I used to use the hot weather as an excuse to skip physical activity of any kind. Now, I look forward to riding my bike no matter what the temperature is outdoors. I'm so Happy to Have better Health, my three personal H's!
