Today was good. The little guy I care for and I walked to the store and rented a movie I got for free. Then I got to order of the kids menu at panda, usually all I want is child size portions but restaurants are so picky if you don't have a kid with you. Work was good and I managed to get home and get over to the gym before the call of the couch lured me in. Did some body pump and ran a mile. Finished the night with an episom salt bath and my Monday night shows. I almost don't believe today was Monday because it went so well.

Week one of my strength training didnt go as planned. The first two days were great, but then I caught a stomach bug and bed was my after work sanctuary. Thankfully I was feeling better by Today just in time for the Walk for the Cure 5k. This was the first time I've ran a 5k outside and I felt it! It was a lot of uphill and my lungs were hurting, but knowing that cancer is a grueling battle pushed me to suck it up and keep going. I found the experience to be emotional because my great grandma is a survivor and my grandma is currently fighting breast cancer. Toward the end of the race I was tired but a fellow runner told me to keep going and ran with me to the finish line. I felt great and it made staying in on a friday night to get up at the crack of dawn totally worth it!!

day 3 strength training

Today is my off day but i think I'll still do some cardio. I did legs yesterday and it felt awesome. Ive been helping my Mom at the gym as well and trying to include her in my workouts. Its been challenging however to keep patient since she's out of shape. Hopefully I can help motivate her to pick up the pace; not that getting in and out of the gym is easy anyway with how crowded ours is.
Ive been tracking my food and always been aware of what i eat but im surprised at how hard it seems to be for me to get the right amount of protien. I dont want to have to drink protein shakes and a girl can only eat so many eggs.

Accomplished my first day of strength training oct 1st, and it was a bit of a disappointment. I felt a bit awkward not knowing exactly how to do the exercises properly but thankfully a fellow gym member showed me how.
I ended up hitting a nerve in my elbow or something so my right arm got a better workout than my left. =(
In the end i felt like i didnt get much of a workout because i wasnt covered in sweat like I'm used to after my usual cardio workouts. I jumped on the treadmill and did 2 miles on random hill; felt good on my legs.

    We all have to start somewhere. If you can swing it financially, get one session with a personal trainer and have them show you how to do some things. If not, the videos here on SparkPeople are good. I don't sweat as much with strength training as with cardio either. But that does not mean I'm not getting a workout. It's just different.
