Wow. I started at SP over 2 years ago and it's been a journey so far and still going. SP has helped me keep my focus along being accountable. If it wasn't for SP, my weight and eating would be on a yo yo. Taking off the weight was the easy part, keeping it and maintaining is the hardest of them all. I look at it as a never ending journey. Tracking my calories and exercise is really the key for me, no magic here. Thanks SP.

Video and Tennis

Saturday, February 05, 2011

Played tennis with a great friend and decided to video our rally. Played it back and said "wow" do I really play like that, meaning I was lazy on my footwork and didn't realize it. Amazing what a video cam can capture. Now I know what to do.

Awesome! I should figure out how to do that with my workouts. It would be 'interesting' at the very least :)

How many members have recruited others to Spark People?

I have, but find that people will stick to it when they're ready. It took two different people to 'recruit' me and then a couple months till I started really 'sparking'.

I have - four people total, including three family members and one co-worker. Only one (my husband) stuck with it. He's also the only one I recruited that's 40 lbs lighter. :)

Coping with stress.

Tell me how you deal with it.

Wanaka's advice is dead on - deep breathing really calms us down and here is why: when you are stressed, the breathing becomes rapid. When you are calm, breathing is slow and deep. And, it works the other way around!!! If you purposely breathe deep and slow, you signal to your body that all is well.. stress doesn't build up, and all of the stress hormones disipitate.
Prayer is powerful, powerful stuff - God hears every prayer, and wants to help - sending up a short prayer "God, help me to deal with this, please" will get results!
Journaling - the idea here is to get the stress OUT of yourself, by putting it on paper - which you can then throw away if you like.. talking, journaling gets the stress out.
Making time for yourself to unwind and exercise are also great stress relievers

When I am stressed, I take deep breaths till I calm down, then I pray. After that I can face whatever it is that's stressing me with a clear mind to then deal with it.

After your hit your goal. Now what?

Tuesday, August 04, 2009

So after you hit your "ideal" goal weight, what will you do after the fact. Will you have other goals? Will you stop or slow down your routines?
