Snack Ideas Anyone? - P90X Week 2 Day 3

Wednesday, September 23, 2009

Yesterday's workout, Cardio X, was much harder then it should have been. Time got away from me in the morning and by the afternoon it had been 5.5 hours since I had eaten last. In a rush I ripped into my Cardio X and part way through I realized I was starving! I then thought about the time, the lack of eating.. oops. I worked as hard as I could but the energy was not with me. I have to chalk this one up as a learning experience.

To prevent this from happening in the future I am going to stock up again at work on tuna pouches, fresh fruit in my lately empty fruit bowl, quick slim fast shakes, bars. Any other thoughts?

Today is Arms & Shoulders. I found the 8lbs weights I had were too heavy for some of the shoulder exercises for me so I am going to try to pick up some 5lbs and 2lbs today after work.

I love the light laughing cow cheese with an apple. This cheese is only 35 cal. per triangle and gives you a little protein!

P90X - Week 2 Day 1

Monday, September 21, 2009

Well, today is Week 2 Day 1 of P90X Lean. I feel great and full of energy, I will hit Core Synergenics when I get home from work today at 3pm.

I think the worst day last week was when DH and I went out for dinner on Saturday for my birthday then did Kenpo X a couple hours afterwards. The meal was good but the workout should have happened before we left! Happily we don't eat out regularly so it was a nice treat.

Also, jello pudding doesn't set with Almond Milk - FYI. emoticon

My Trip and My New Goal

Thursday, April 23, 2009

I went away on a work trip and I felt that I did fairly well in terms of sticking to healthy choices. I also went for a run one of the days and given that this was a very busy work/pleasure trip I was happy with that.

I also picked up some goodies for myself:
8lbs and 10lbs weights to use at home.
New pair of pants only $30 - a nice motivator.
Socks and a pretty scarf - yay.
Cute undies - something about new undies always makes the day better.

I have another trip planned - purely pleasure though this might make it more busy with family and wedding plans. The plan is to "go home" May 14-18th. I would like to lose 5lbs by then which is exactly 3 weeks away. I also have to run another 11km before the week is up to meet my monthly goal of 35km.

Ups and Downs of Easter

Tuesday, April 14, 2009

Keeping it short and sweet.
I ran 5K in just over 45mins. This was on Friday. I went for 2 long walks Sat/Sun. I ate fairly well on Friday and Saturday considering we had company and the booze was flowing.
I ate way too much chocolate on Sunday and Monday. I am mad at myself.

Now I am struggling with the chocolate set back. Working to not give up.

I got chocolates for easter too and I'm trying to parcel them out, but I feel like they're hitting some kind of craving I haven't had in awhile. Don't beat yourself up too much, eating more on a holiday is kind of what holidays are for.

5k in 45 minutes? I couldn't run a 5k if I tried. I don't have the stamina and my knees can't take the running. I don't know if that is good or bad, but I am impressed. The important thing, either way, is that you are out there working on it.

Chocolate is a real challenge for lots of us. But you deal with it and move on.

A fragment of a poem by Ralph Waldo Emerson is telling:

"Finish each day
And be done with it.
You have done what you could.
Some blunders and
Absurdities have crept in.
Forget them as soon as you can."

I'm just starting out - joined yesterday after an Easter week end of way too much everything! Had moderate sucess yesterday and things are looking better today. I'm off to karate tonight, that should help!

Read some of the articles in the motivation section. They address this feeling of wanting to give up after a set back. You don't have to be perfect. You just have to pick yourself up and re-focus. 1 or 2 days of incorrect eating isn't much compared with the lifetime of healthy living ahead of you. Look forward, and congratulations for having the courage to blog about your flaws.

Bummed Knee

Wednesday, April 08, 2009

So a few years back I was hiking a mountain and pushed too hard through some knee pain... I then found myself on crutches for a few months. Since then re-introduction of activity flares the pain; I suppose until I build the strength back up.

The last serious activity I did was a 60min run before I was scheduled for too much OT at work. I ended up taking about a 3 week break and I find myself back at square one in terms of my knee. I tried to run last night and the pain flared after only 8 mins! So I put myself on the bike and finished my cardio. Now I will have to wait a few days until the pain goes down to then increase my running time until pain flares again.. rinse/repeat.

So I write this blog to vent at a) how quickly your body can lapse and b) how much of a damper this puts on my 5K training I was going to do this month. I had to reduce my mileage goal for the month.. *sniff*.

I have knee problems myself and I can't run at all, so I know what you are going through.

Did you try something like an eliptical that has no impact or a gazelle that does not even really bend the knee?
