New Beginnings

Saturday, July 25, 2009

Today is Saturday July 25th and with it brings me saying good bye to some things in my life and hello to others.

The summer has had its ups and downs and I am not measuring them against each other because Lori is back with her positive attitude and more.

I am a Master's grad, accepted a job offer and start the first week of August. With that will be saying goodbue to long walks I can take during the day, but hello to hour lunches where I can still get a brisk walk in. Goodbye to suppers pretended by me every night and hello to lean cuisines when I get home between 6:30 and 7. Goodbye to the 20 pounds I put on in the past year and hello to smaller new work clothes because I am working for it.

I missed all my friends and here and am back with a vengence.

Welcome back Lori! How does the saying go.....that which doesn't kill us makes us stronger? Attitude makes a huge difference in our success or failure and it sounds like you have a good attitude as you move forward. emoticon

Monthly post

Wednesday, April 01, 2009

I use to post daily blogs on here, then weekly, then never. So I am making a goal for myself to post at least monthly. Progress, problems, thoughts.

School is wonderful and I cannot believe it will be over in 5 weeks and i will have my Masters in 7. Then I really need to land a job.

I was very sick the past few weeks, some type of flu. I lost 16 pounds. Today I am down 8 and I don't plan on putting any more back.

I am back in the exercise game and will go to the gym or get at least 1 hour walk or 30 minute run outside every single day except for the Saturdays I work all day. I am gone too long from home to get a good workout but weather providing, will walk at lunch.

That's it for April.

Scheduling time

Sunday, February 22, 2009

I find that I do best with structure and making an organized routine of things to get them done. I have a planner for school and marked when all my assignments, papers and tests are due. I stick to it and have not got behind at all.

I also mark in my Tuesday Zumba nights which I would hate to miss, even though it is so far away to drive. I think if I schedule specific workout activities I would be more inclined to get them done.

As it is, I had a 20 days Feb exercise streak going on and could not do anything yesterday after a full day of work and almost 4 hours of driving in snow. I don't know how I got it in daily when I worked FT! I think I didn't sleep as well and that is something I am thrilled to say I have little problems with now. So time to look at my planner and get things scheduled.

My new year blog post

Monday, January 19, 2009

I know it has been over 6 months since I last posted but I am seriously needing to get serious again about this. All the weight I lost plus 10 pounds have come back and I am finding more health problems because of it.

With the prospect of losing my insurance in a few weeks because of my job loss, I won't be able to get my heart meds so I need to make myself healthy without. And that includes serious low fat, low sodium eating that will be duly tracked. I also am stuck in my gym membership until October and have been good in the past 2 weeks about using it, so I will continue. I do circuit weights 3x + a week and use the elliptical for 30 minutes and sometimes the treadmill. This week I am adding the bike for 15 minutes. There, I wrote it, so it must be done.

I have had some great successes on here and will need to continue and one way is regular posts, so here I go.

Hey there! Just stopping by to say hello, and I feel your pain about gaining back weight and not continuing on with eating healthy, yada yada. It's hard to get started again, but it's not impossible! Sometimes I wish I had someone to work out with, that it would be easier, but the bottom line is that no matter what, I'm the one who's doing all the hard work! I find I need to track my food AND work out regularly, that the two combined works really well for me. If you need any help, just let me know and I'll do what I can, okay? ~~Lori 8-)

Way Too Long

Sunday, July 27, 2008

It has been much too long between blog posts and I feel bad about it. I have been busy though.

The wedding is over and was just beautiful as I knew it would be. School is coming along as is work.
I attended my last summer concert last night and my ears are still ringing.

With all that were pictures and I am disappointed and upset with myself. Although people said I looked great at the wedding, my DH told me the truth and said I did not. I know I am closing in on my starting weight when I began SP 3 years ago now!

I am the only one that can make a change and I am starting from scratch. Back to square one

Oh Lori, I am so sorry to hear you are disappointed with yourself. DH's comment sounds a little harsh, but perhaps was well intended. You had done so well, so I know you know what you need to do next. Time to make time for taking care of YOU, which of course is tough with your busy schedule. The only bright spot (for me) is this may bring you back to the team more, and I really have missed you.

Gerry
