Day 1 (again!)

It is a good thing that we can always "start again"! Here I go again, Day 1 after my SECOND setback this year!! UUuuuggghhhhh!!! (I fractured my elbow in May if you remember!) I have not exercised since my last bike ride on August 14th!

Tonight I did 30 minutes in the indoor pool for the first time. All I could do was walk in the water, but it may be enough. I started to feel my innards arguing with me! So I will have to see how I feel tomorrow as to whether or not I go back again right away. Hopefully, I just gave it a gentle workout and I can continue.

Any recommendations or ideas would be welcomed. Now that I can almost carry on my daily activities without any pain/discomfort, I am finding myself more irritated by the need for patience in healing! Oh Well . . . I have to focus on getting better each day. I do see the milestones, so I do know that I am healing.

Let yourself heal and continue with the gentle exercise. If you push yourself too much you'll be back to square 1. Good luch! Report Inappropriate Comment

Walking in the water is great exercise. Use good form and the resistance of the water is giving your body a good workout. I think it is a great way to start back again. In fact after surgery in April, I was sent for aqua therapy much of which was walking in the water. Report Inappropriate Comment

Gaining again

Well . . . went in for a follow up with the doctor today and I was up from my last weigh in of 185 to 191! Oh well . . . I suspected it would happen. I just need to focus to keep it from getting out of hand.

I mentioned working out in the pool and he thought that was a good idea. He also said that maybe a stationery bike would not be strenuous on my abs and I could begin doing that. So I may try to get on the trainer I have set up in the living room sometime this weekend. At lease I now have SOMETHING that I can begin doing to get back on my fitness track! Yay!!

Slow Goin'

Well . . . I was told that it would be anywhere from 6 - 9 months before I felt like myself, and I really did not believe it! I was going to be the optimist! But optimism is not what is going to get me healed, only time and patience!

It has been almost 11 weeks since surgery and I still cannot be up for too long at a time. The other morning I was up ironing three of my husband's shirts as well as all of the usual stuff that I do to get ready for work and I started the day off uncomfortable.

It looks like it will be almost Spring before I can get back on my bike. I see my Dr. next week and am going to ask him about doing exercising in the water at the pool. I am hoping that I can at least do that since the water would take the weight off of my innerds! I will have to keep you posted!

Finally I have had two nights in a row with good sleep, and not waking up in any pain every half hour!

Today has been a good day without any pain. I still have three weeks to go and need to get my strength back up now that I seem to be healing. It's all I can do to push the corer through my apple! Pitiful! Simply pitiful!

Surgery went well. Feeling a little better each day. Doing a lot of TV, puzzles and movies to keep occupied during the day.
