I have always struggled with my weight. From a very young age. I have always been chubby. Chunnky. Curvy.
I met and married a wonderful man who loved my body. He was an athlete - had run marathons, done triathlons, and was an amazing swimmer. We swam and cycled together. Had 2 kids. And a wonderful family life. And one day - more than 3 years ago - we woke up to the worst day of our life on a regular Saturday morning. Our husband and daddy had died of a massive heart attack on a calm Saturday morning. Our ski trip day had turned into death and funeral planning day.
Life has never been the same. How we miss him!!!!
I was in a fog for months. Couldn't eat. Lost weight. Then - the weight started creeping up again. And a grief counselor had been encouraging any kind of exercise for mood improvement. I began running.
I love running. I'm amazed!! Over a year I lost 40 pounds - but I kept it up because it helps me feel well. I am on a very long plataeu now - 9 months at the same weight which is about 20 or so from my goal. I am hoping blogging and hearing others thoughts might help me move past this.
But I will tell you that this is better than 3 years ago. I can use something I can control to feel better.
I am completely convinced that living a healthy life and getting a good amount of exercise is key to feeling well. My children even follow my lead - a wonderful thing since they have an unhealthy family history on their dad's saide.
